As of today (May 31), it looks like the Trump-Kim Summit will still take place in Singapore on June 12. Peace between North and South Korea would be an astounding achievement, previously deemed utterly impossible. That it may be possible we will see, this December 10 in Norway’s Oslo City Hall, Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un awarded the Nobel Peace Prize boggles the mind.
I have been to North Korea three times, 2010-2012. Now might be a good time to tell you about it.
As you may know, I’ve been to every country in the world (198 counting 193 UN member states, 2 UN observer states, and 3 sovereign countries blocked from UN membership: Taiwan, Kosovo, and Somaliland), as well as over another 100 separate political jurisdictions.
So it is with some authority I can say North Korea is far – far – away the weirdest place on the planet. It is George Orwell’s 1984 made real. Thus it is not easy to describe something so off-the-wall bizarre, so totally over the top that there’s nothing to compare it to.
Let’s start with the unexpected. For example, North Korea is an environmentalist’s paradise.

This Wednesday POTUS Tweet was a historical message. No longer is the target simply the “Deep State.” Now it is the “Criminal Deep State.” It gives a masterfully memorable name to the culminating criminal scandal: Spygate. And the critical message is in two words: “turned around.”

On Tuesday (5/15), President Trump spoke at the 37th Annual National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the US Capitol in Washington. The link is to the full text of his heart-warming address, in which he pledged that his presidency’s policy is “to protect those who protect us.” I encourage you to read it entire.
Yet the reaction to it, as with so much else the President did this week, exemplifies a main theme of this week’s HFR – that the party affiliation of “D” no longer stands for Democrat. Rather, D now stands for Delusional. Which means we must talk about her:

Iran’s economy is right on the brink. The new sanctions – which the President will enforce with a hammer, right on all the Euroweenie (particularly German) companies doing business the Tehran Terror Master – will push it into the abyss.
The protest movement – growing silently and spreading widely – will quickly become too massive to contain. Regular soldiers, Pasdaran (Revolutionary Guards), and even Basij (paramilitaries) are joining the protests – or refusing to attack them – in droves.
We are witness to an astounding moment in modern history. This month, May 2018, will see the simultaneous solving of the two greatest world threats, that of North Korea and Mullah Iran. And peacefully, without war.
Rather than horrific war with South Korea or possibly nuclear war with the US, the President has made offers China’s Xi and North Korea’s Kim can’t and won’t refuse. All three will be standing on the awards podium in Oslo to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Mullah Regime will now implode, collapse upon itself, without an outward explosion of war with its neighbors – much like the fate of the Soviet Union. The revolt of the Iranian people will have bloody moments – hopefully not many – but the Mullahs are doomed.
That this has been accomplished by a man upon whom the Left and Deep State has waged savage, relentless, and morally despicable war since his election is virtually miraculous. Anyone who now denies the extraordinary genius of this man is willfully and perversely blinding himself to the obvious.

Mayday is the international signal of distress that been in use since the 1920s. For that is the HFR’s theme this week.
Listen – can you hear it? Vast swarms of Fascist Lefties, from Washington DC to Mexifornia, from Democrats on Capitol Hill to Social Justice Warriors throughout the land, are screaming “Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!” in panic and terror. The sound is simply Schadenfreudelicious.

Berlin, Germany. For millennia, especially here in Europe, the First of May was a happy, joyful celebration of life after winter, with dancing around a Maypole and crowning a pretty girl with flowers as Queen of May.
I grew up in California. When we were kids, my sisters would always get up early to pick flowers, and leave them in a basket at the front door for Mom, our family’s Queen of May.
Today is a national holiday in Germany, as it is in over 30 other countries in Europe and dozens of other countries around the world. But not as May Day.
Instead, it’s called International Workers Day. Since it was the invention of Communists in 1889, it should be called Commie Day. Only Communists could take an innocent celebration of springtime and turn it into celebration of murder, terrorism, hate, and envy.
Here’s the story. It begins not in Europe but in America.
CINCO DE FARSA
There’s a story of an American at a bar in Mexico City. After a couple of Dos Equis with the locals, he asks them, “Amigos, there’s something I don’t understand – I love Mexico, it’s beautiful, full of natural resources, people work hard, so why is Mexico so poor?”
One of the locals smirks and says, “Why that’s easy – it’s because you gringos stole half our land.” The American takes a tug on his beer and says, “Really?” The local responds, “Yes, and what’s worse – you gringos stole the half with all the paved roads!”
Overmorrow this Saturday, millions of us gringos will celebrate May 5th. Yet Cinco de Mayo is a phony tradition, a joke on los Norteamericanos, then exploited as a marketing gimmick by Mexican restaurant chains as an excuse for us to get wasted on Jose Cuervo.
So at TTP, our tradition on May 5th is to explain la verdad, the truth, so you’ll understand why it should be called Cinco de Farsa, The Fifth of Farce.
Which is, to begin with: Nobody in Mexico cares about May 5th. Only we, us gringos, pretend to. For if you ask just about any reveler at the nearest Pancho Villa’s Cantina or some such Mexican-themed bar anywhere in the US, just what is being celebrated on May 5th, you’ll get either a blank stare or "It’s their July 4th " ignorance.
So first the true history of Mexico. You’ll learn more about Mexico’s history in ten minutes than you ever did in school or anywhere else.
Then the reality today — the horrific truth of how treasonous Dem fascists and their useful idiot Rino masochists are using Mexico to destroy their own country.

THE WORLD’S WORST IMPERIALISM
Golan Heights, Israel. Today, April 17, is Israel’s Memorial Day, when all Israelis pay homage to those who died fighting to preserve Israel’s freedom and very existence.
At precisely 11am, sirens sound for two minutes. Everyone in the entire country stops whatever they are doing to stand silently in this homage. This includes anyone driving on the streets and roads. Cars and trucks stop wherever they are, people get out to stand silently on the road. We stood here on the Golan Heights.
We looked down upon the Hula Valley, where Syrians aimed their artillery, mortars, rockets, and sniper rifles upon the farmers below in their fields and villages. The snipers would even fire into the windows of homes to murder men, women, and children inside.
There is a profound lesson here to be learned for America, for we – indeed all of Western Civilization, formerly and what should still be known as Christendom – is threatened by the world’s worst imperialism in the history of mankind.
AMERICA AT MASADA
Masada, Israel. The story of Masada is one of epic heroism. At Israel’s creation in 1948, its founders were determined to create a paradigm shift in how Jews looked upon themselves. Here is where they found it.
For centuries Jews had passively accepted their fate of being murderously discriminated against. Now they had to see themselves as warriors willing to fight or die for their freedom. The epic heroism of Masada provided the perfect historical basis for such a paradigm shift, with every Israeli schoolchild imbued with it from kindergarten on.
No more pogroms, no more Jews lying down and taking it. Like the heroes of Masada, Jews were now to be feared and respected for their absolute determination to defend themselves against evil and ruthless enemies.
It’s a lesson America has to learn and take to heart today.
A TWO-FER TODAY
It’s April 5, way too late for April Fools. So when I got two big surprises this morning, I knew they were for real.
First, there’s a fabulous photo essay on my Himalaya Helicopter Expedition in the Daily Mail, the most widely-read English language news site in the world.
Second, a friend just sent me a video that has recently appeared on YouTube – of an interview of me back in 1985, 33 years ago! I had no idea this existed and had never seen it before this morning.
I had just returned from Africa with the RENAMO freedom fighters in Mozambique, and the Jamba Conference in guerrilla-held Angola that formed an alliance between Anti-Soviet Freedom Fighters around the world.
My first reaction watching it was, wow, I sure looked younger then and had a lot more hair! Next I noticed how relevant what I said – especially about the State Department – was to today.
INDIAN TIBET
When most people think of Tibet, they think of Chinese-Occupied Tibet, which the Chicoms seized in the 1950s, committing genocidal slaughter of two million Tibetans in the process.
Today, the former independent country of Tibet is a Tibetan Theme Park for Chinese tourists, locked down tight by the Chinese military, and secret police who control all the monasteries.
Yet there are regions of ethnic, cultural, and geographical Tibet that China was not able to seize. One of them, The Kingdom of Lo, tucked away in a tiny hidden corner of Nepal, we go to on our Himalaya Helicopter Expeditions.
Larger than Lo is the Upper Indus River Valley as it flows out of Chinese Tibet into the remotest part of northwest India. The region of the Upper Indus and surrounding side valleys is called Ladakh. It is wholly Tibetan – here you will find real Tibetan culture truly alive and thriving, replete with astoundingly spectacular Tibetan monasteries or gompas.
I took the photo above at the Spituk gompa – the river in the foreground is the Upper Indus, and the snow-capped mountains in the distance are in Chinese Tibet. It’s near the capital of Ladakh, Leh – an endlessly fascinating caravanserai town where you’ll find everything Tibetan. Here’s the ancient Leh Palace and the Leh gompa hovering high above:

Kind of weird to wake up on this particular morning to see the Drudge headline: Pope has declared there’s no Hell.
While the Vatican quickly claimed he was misquoted (a typical politician’s non-denial denial) – not a “faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father” – nonetheless, it may reopen investigation that this papacy is illegitimate.
You may recall from the Happy New Year HFR three months ago (12/29/17) the substantive accusations of Obama engineering a papal coup:

NR calls it “The Omnibus Disgrace” – all 2,232 pages of $1.3 trillion just for the next six months that Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) says is “a Great Dane-sized whiz down the leg of every taxpayer.”
In fact, it’s Trump’s Disgrace, for he is the Great Dane. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) begged Trump to veto the monstrosity passed by the House and Senate yesterday (3/22). Instead, in a disgusting Anti-MAGA Wimpout, he surrendered to Chuck Schumer this afternoon.
Great headline to wake up to this morning isn’t it? Nancy Pelosi Gloats over Omnibus: ‘Democrats Won’; No Wall. She’s gloating over a lot more than No Wall. The odds just enormously increased for her being Speaker Pelosi again after millions of Pub voters realize there’s just no point in voting Rinos back in office.
It’s not so much a Blue Wave of libtard enthusiasm that will sweep the Dems back in power on Capitol Hill, but GOP voters staying home and not caring any more.
They won’t care because they realize the GOP Ruling Elite and the majority of Pubs in office are the Deep State just like the Dems. Trump had a chance to take them to the woodshed today and he didn’t. The consequences of his cowardice may prove catastrophic.
Okay, it’s a long ways between now and November, so let’s hope Trump pulls a rabbit out of his hat in the meantime. In fact, he pulled one out already yesterday, and the biggest rabbit ever seen may be right around the corner.

Well, top o’ the mornin’ to ya! Welcome to the Happy St. Patrick’s Day HFR! You may think it’s tomorrow, but it’s already Saturday March 17 in much of the world, so why not start celebrating right now like these happy folks in Singapore?
And note, they’re doing it right – with Guinness, not lousy weak beer with green food coloring. The future King and Queen of England do it right, so should you!
On St. Patrick’s Day, everybody is – or wishes they were – Irish. You know how The Irish Saved Civilization, right? Okay, Tom Cahill’s book is over the top hyperbolic, but no one can doubt Ireland’s prodigious gifts to humanity.
At some point, fortified with a Guinness pint or an appropriately made Irish Whiskey (recipe at the end), take a moment to enjoy TTP’s, Beyond The Pale (August 2006). Then you can regale and astound your friends with your knowledge of Irish history during the festivities.
Before then, however, let’s see what’s been happening this week. We have all learned by now that a Trump Presidency is never boring, and this week is no exception.
MAKE AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY GREAT AGAIN

The President announced that with his new Cabinet changes, he’s getting the Cabinet he wants. My job as Secretary of State will be to give him the foreign policy he wants.
We cannot do that without replacing the Obama holdovers who are committed to thwarting the President’s foreign policy goals. The man to do that will be my new Deputy Secretary of State, John Bolton.
With John at my side, working with the great many patriots in our diplomatic corps and in tandem with other members of the President’s Cabinet, we are going to make American foreign policy great again.
The US Marines gave a great motto. Marines define themselves as “your best friend, your worst enemy.” The State Department will now adopt that motto.
This applies in particular with those countries and leaders who wish not only to ally with us, but embody values they share with us, so we have a relationship of mutual respect. It also applies to those countries and leaders who wish to be hostile to us, and have abandoned the values that were the basis of our respect for them.
An example of the former is Israel. An example of the latter is Turkey under the leadership of Mr. Erdogan. Recently (3/15), he had the temerity to have his Foreign Minister say that I and the State Department must “learn how to behave” before there can be good relations between our countries.
So let me explain something to Mr. Erdogan – that it is you who must learn how to behave towards us.

SHOULD AMERICA SECEDE FROM CALIFORNIA?
We constantly hear now about California’s threat to secede from the US. In certain ways, it already has, such as declaring itself a “Sanctuary State” in explicit defiance of the Federal Government.
What is needed is to ask, why shouldn’t it be the other way around? Why shouldn’t the rest of America kick California out of the United States?
What was the Golden State has become a Third World Poverty Pit sprinkled with gated and walled enclaves of the fantastically wealthy 1% -- just like every corrupt kleptocracy in Africa. California has become the poster child for the catastrophic destructiveness of Politically Correct Progressivism.
Yesterday on March 1st, the headline on Fox News was: California Has Worst Quality of Life in US, Study Shows. That same day, the Los Angeles Times headline was: How Can a Place [Downtown Los Angeles] with 58,000 Homeless Continue to Function?
This state of disastrous affairs, the ruination of what was an American Paradise, is the complete and total creation of California Democrats, wielding monopoly power in the state government at Sacramento and the largest municipalities of LA and San Francisco.

STOP SEPARATING FAMILIES!
What normal person capable of human compassion could disagree? Who would advocate or actively work to achieve breaking families apart? It’s a moral given: Of course those involved should stop separating families.

Breitbart focuses on the practical consequences of disastrously massive immigration numbers due to “chain migration,” which are real --

This is the North Face of Mount Everest in Tibet. I took this picture on October 29, 1987, alongside a small group of friends. We had just finished crossing the entire Chang Tang Plateau of Northern Tibet. We stood silently, filled with awe and reverence for the privilege of being here.
An indescribably deep calm swept over us as we witnessed one of the most magnificent sights in all the world – the world’s highest mountain turn pink in the setting sun – and no one was calmer than Big John Perrott.
For we had been in the Chang Tang – once of the remotest places on our planet – on October 19 when we heard the BBC report on our shortwave radio that the US and global stock markets had collapsed.
It was Black Monday, October 19, 1987, when the Dow suffered the single largest one-day percentage drop in its history: 22.61%, losing 508 points from 2246 to 1738.
Big John collapsed emotionally. “I’m ruined! I’ve lost everything – all my life savings have been wiped out!” he exclaimed in anguish. There was nothing he could do. There was no way whatever we could communicate with the outside world. “If I could just have reached my broker in time to sell before the markets crash even lower, I’d at least have something left!” he lamented bitterly.
By the time we had reached Everest ten days later, our little shortwave radio told us that the markets were rebounding. Black Monday had been a trading event, not a fundamental or economic one. “Jack,” Big John told me, “I’ll always be grateful that I was in the middle of Tibet when this happened and couldn’t do anything. My panic would have been my downfall back home.”

AINOS AND THE WASTE STREAM MEDIA
“Democrats are going to have to make a decision at some point really soon, do they hate this president more than they love this country.”In other words, are Democrats going to choose to be Americans, or will they remain what they are now: Americans In Name Only or AINOs.
It’s the same exact issue facing the Democrat Propaganda Machine, ridiculously known as the “Mainstream” Media. There is nothing “mainstream” about this ilk who have abandoned the slightest pretense of honest journalism.

Conservatives have contempt for RINO politicians, Republicans In Name Only, and for good reason. The basis for conservative contempt of RINOs is their cowardice – the spineless refusal of the GOP Establishment Elite to stand up for their professed principles.
There are a few of them so suffused with hatred for President Trump that they have become AINOs as well – such as Jeff Flake – but only a few.

The HFR is called such because we’re optimists – the glass is half-full, not half-empty. It was not easy to do this during our long eight-year Nightmare of Zero. It’s been enjoyably easy for the past year of MAGA.
There are still weeks, however, that are not as easy as others. This week is one of them. Yet we’ll manage to be more than full by the end.
Yesterday (1/25), I wrote Mad Dog on the Porch – how SecDef Mattis appears to be wimping out in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria.
Today, (1/26), we ran two opposing views on this with regard to Turkey: David Goldman’s Tinpot Turkish Dictator Humiliates the United States, and Caroline Glick’s The US Quietly Sidelines a Turkey in Decline.
I have tremendous regard for both David and Caroline. I want to Caroline to be right – and thus me to be wrong about Mattis, and by extension his boss – but I’m afraid David may be right. We’ll find out soon.
That said, the news will get better as we go along…
MAD DOG ON THE PORCH
Secretary of Defense, and 4 Star Marine General (ret) James Mattis is called “Mad Dog” for a reason.
When asked last May what keeps him awake at night as SecDef, he responded, “Nothing. I keep other people awake at night.” When reporters asked him at the start of the year (1/05), what his biggest military concern was for 2018, he replied, “I don’t have concerns. I create them.”
Mad Dog Mattis is the biggest and baddest of the big dogs – nobody should even think of messing with him, right? Then why is he on the porch, staying meekly and quietly on the porch, instead of running with all the other big dogs and showing them who’s boss?

That something happened on the political field of play on Capitol Hill last night, resulting in early this morning the Twitter hashtag #ReleasetheMemo trending as among the most read in the entire world.
Note that was before dawn in DC when I started writing this – just a few hours later the Commie-Fascisti at Twitter erased it off the Worldwide Trends sidebar – after it had hit over 800,000 tweets, replaced by #NationalPopcornDay with less than 5,000.
It began with ace super-reporter Sarah Carter last night (1/18) posting: A Bombshell House Intelligence report exposing extensive FISA abuse could lead to the removal of senior government officials:
