Tom Keene writes:

Someone quoting Strauss and Howe…awesome. Thank you. I have the Generations book, and always wished that they would have published a smaller version for quick-read reviews. Thank you for your summary.

Another positive aspect of Xers that I have found is their no fear attitude toward starting businesses. I believe they will go down as the most entrepreneurial generation in USA history.

I am leading edge Boomer…with two Millennial kids.

Tom —

I find your claim that Xers will be “the most entrepreneurial generation in USA history” to be extremely relevant to our economy today, particularly regarding Democrat accusations of President Bush causing a “jobless recovery.” Your point explains the amazing disparity between Payroll and Household Employment reported by the Labor Dept. The January 2004 Report (http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm) says that nonfarm payroll jobs rose by 112,000. This was the figure gloomily reported by the alphabet media as “disappointing” as the expectation was for at least 150,000. What the left-wing alphabets did not disclose was that total civilian employment rose not by 112,000 but by 496,000 — almost half a million jobs created in January alone — as measured by the BLS Household Survey.

What’s going on? Self-employed, independent contractor, free agent Xers, that’s what. The Payroll Survey only measures jobs in corporations. Xers are striking out on their own, getting and creating their own jobs. The “jobless recovery” of the Demagogue Party is a myth — thanks to the Xers. Now if someone could only explain this to Lou Dobbs on CNN so he’d stop flapping his jowl wings whining about “exporting America.”
