THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF JOHN KERRY

Here’s a confession that my long-time readers will find as no surprise: the possibility that John Kerry will defeat George Bush in November has never seriously occurred to me.

The Bush Campaign should of course act otherwise, act as if the race will be frighteningly close and fight tenaciously for every electoral vote. Yet I remain convinced today during the Boston Yawn-Fest as I have always been that the election will be a Bush Blow-Out. Kerry will be lucky to carry Massachusetts (remember, the most popular politician in the Bay State now is conservative Republican Governor Mitt Romney) and perhaps a few others – that’s it.

Every day now another political negative is piled on to the Everest of Negatives Kerry must and cannot scale. He reminds me of the mathematician’s joke about the guy who was so negative that whenever he walked into a room people would ask, “Who left?”

Kerry has so much going against him you don’t where to start. Let’s begin with the Democrats’ total lack of enthusiasm for him. They are energized only by what they are against: Dubya. This a re-run of 1996 Dole-Clinton in obverse. Loathing Bill Clinton was not enough. Not an emotional ounce of that loathing could be alchemized into passion for Bob Dole. So the pathological hatred the MichaelMoorecrats have for George Bush doesn’t count at the ballot box. They really should have held the Dem Convention in Hollywood because all that’s on display is Potemkin Passion: hoopla and cheers as phony as a Hollywood set façade.

The essence of this was captured by a reporter who escaped from the Yawn-Fest to a bar near the Boston docks filled with blue-collar guys. They were far more interested in watching the World Series of Poker on the TV instead of the latest blowdried blowhard blathering at the Yawn-Fest. When asked if they would be voting for Kerry, they all said yes, since they were “unionists.” But they made it clear that they would be dragging themselves to the polls out of dutiful obligation. When voting for you is seen as drudgery, you in a whole heap a’ trouble, boy.

There is no way, no matter how much Hollywood uses special effects and cosmetics, to overcome Kerry’s plain unlikeability. Bill Clinton lacks any integrity and moral character, but ask anyone who has met him – even his bitterest political enemies – and they will tell you it’s almost impossible not to like him. The man has charm and charisma oozing out of him. What oozes out of Kerry is superior-than-thou arrogance. Personality-wise he is the Anti-Clinton.

Just as there is nothing in Kerry’s personality to turn voters on, there’s nothing in his character and principles. He has bet the farm on the myth of his heroism in Vietnam. The soon-to-be best-selling book in the country, Unfit For Command,is going to explode the myth. You can order the book here at Amazon.

Two out of Kerry’s three Purple Hearts, it turns out, were self-inflicted. He carried around an 8mm home movie camera and had himself filmed re-enacting his alleged exploits. Then after getting his phony medals and filming himself as a war hero, he returns to the US and testifies in Congress that his fellow soldiers:

”Raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam.”

The depth of hatred Democrats have for George Bush doesn’t hold a candle to what Vietnam Veterans feel for John Kerry. It’s not just that he’s an ersatz hero – it’s that he knowingly gave aid and comfort to the enemy.

Jim Warner was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam for over five years. For 18 months, his cell mate in the Hanoi Hilton was John McCain. During the spring of 1971, he was taken to a special interrogation center where during a break in his torture sessions, his Communist interrogators laughed at him while showing him US newspapers. “Even your fellow soldiers are against you,” they taunted. The newspaper story they pointed to was about the testimony of John Kerry.

Jim asks: When John Kerry said that Vietnam vets were criminals, did he not know that the Communists would use his words against the POWs? He feels insulted when someone questions his patriotism. What other conclusion would you come to, if you were in my shoes?

Jim Warner’s article, What Other Conclusion Would You Come To? is included in the current July 30 TTP Weekly Report.

This coming September 12, over 100,000 Vietnam Veterans will gather on the Washington Mall to demonstrate against John Kerry’s candidacy for president. I hope to see you there. For information, go to www.KerryLied.com.

So there’s no personality, no character, no principles – and there’s nothing but pablum and bromides instead of clear stances on issues of voter importance. This goes beyond the famous Senator Flip-Flop problem. Kerry’s caught in an unsolvable Catch-22 with his own supporters.

Remember all that energizes them is their hatred of George Bush. They demand that we surrender and retreat from Iraq, for example. Kerry can’t call for this, of course – which infuriates folks like Susan Sarandon and Danny Glover, who angrily tell him: “So far, all we have heard from you are politically-calibrated platitudes about staying the course in Iraq.” The homosexuals are equally infuriated that Kerry isn’t for fully legalizing their “marriages.” A spokesman for the homosexual group Don’t Amend denounces Kerry as “trying to speak out of both sides of his mouth on this issue… John Kerry wants to get rid of equal marriage rights here in Massachusetts.”

This is why Kerry ordered a clampdown on Bush-anger at the convention: he can’t throw out the red meat his supporters crave as that would alienate the rest of the electorate. But without the red meat, his supporters become confused, bitter, and demoralized. He’s stuck, trapped, immobilized between the Flip and the Flop.

How in the world do the Dems think that such an immobilized candidate can engage in simply the basic uphill struggle required to overcome the inertia of any presidential incumbency – much less stand a chance against a president so formidable and focused as George W. Bush?

Consumer confidence has now hit a two-year high. Job growth in electorally-pivotal states like Missouri is at an all-time high. The Associated Press is reporting the best economic growth in 20 years. The latest ABC/Washington Post poll says voters trust Bush over Kerry regarding handling terrorism 55 to 37 percent. The Bush good news/Kerry bad news stats go on and on.

The only good news for Kerry is the major media Pogo Press’ attempt to suppress any good news that would help GW – but recall that the Pogos don’t have the media monopoly they used to. More people listen to Rush than read the New York Times. The Pogos must compete with talk radio, the Internet, blogs, emailed stories, Fox – and yes, To The Point!

It will be so much fun to watch the Bush-Kerry debates in October. To get a taste of what’s in store for Hanoi John, read Bush’s terrific National Urban League speech in Detroit on July 23. As Ann Richards learned to her dismay when GW walked away with her Texas Governorship, so will Kerry – that GW is a hell-on-wheels campaigner. Kerry stands no more chance in the debates – especially with his handicaps of smart-aleck arrogance and pontificating pretentiousness – against Bush than Little Johnny Edwards stands with the consummate adult, Dick Cheney.

To cap this off, there’s Kerry’s latest Dukakis Moment. There will be others to come. Hippity hop, hippity hop, all the way to November…
