THE 1974 OBVERSE

Are you ready?  Are you ready?  History is about to change direction.  That a self-declared "rebel on the right" street artist named Sabo created this photoshop poster, then plastered it on streets in Beverly Hills over last weekend, is one indication.  Note Winston Churchill on his right bicep and Sarah Palin on his neck.

Pictures of it went instantly viral on the Web, then went viral on stilts when Cruz tweeted his response:

Even the HuffPo was in awe of Cruz’s perfect sense of humor, calling it "incredible."  Cruz then sent a signed poster back to Sabo, inscribing, "The fight for liberty never ends."  Sabo, a former US Marine, has a website:  unsavoryagents.com.  I particularly like his portrayal of Hillary as Mao and her minions as Chicoms:

Welcome to 1974 in obverse.

In 1972, the Hippie Marxists of the 60s took over the structure of the Democrat Party.  They secured the nomination of a radical leftie senator, George McGovern, who ran on a radical left party platform promising a "government guaranteed job for all," and an unlimited expansion of "rights," not of the individual against a predatory state, but of claims various collectives (women, blacks, students, the poor, employees, on and on) have on the public trough.

He so turned off voters that Tricky Dick Nixon was able to obliterate him in November, 61 to 37%, and 520 to 17 in the Electoral College.  McGovern didn’t even carry his home state of South Dakota.

But then came Watergate.  What did Nixon in was the revelation that he had a secret taping system that recorded his Oval Office conversations.  As the demands he release them became deafening, instead of destroying the tapes on grounds of national security, he refused until ordered to release them in full by the Supreme Court in July 1974.

One of them, dubbed  the "Smoking Gun Tape," recorded that Nixon did indeed know of the Watergate burglary soon afterwards and ordered an effort to thwart any investigation.  It was released on August 5.  Facing certain impeachment, Nixon resigned the presidency on August 9, 1974.

Less than three months later, on November 4, with Republicans in complete disgrace, the "Watergate Class" was elected to Congress.  Of the 435 seats in the House, the Dems won 291, increasing their majority over the hapless Pubs by 49.  In the Senate, the Dems got 60 seats.

It wasn’t just the size of the Watergate Class’ majority, it was their radical ideology.  Those 60s Marxist Hippies who took over the party in 1972 now took over Congress in 1974. 

Guys like straight-out Commie Ron Dellums, hyper-leftie George Miller, hyper-jerk Pete Stark, and hyper-fascist Henry Waxman from California.  Feminazis like Pat Schroeder from Colorado and Bella Abzug from New York, black feminazis like Shirley Chisholm from New York, corrupt grafters like Chris Dodd from Connecticut, black grafters like Charlie Rangel from New York, moral slimeballs like John Murtha from Pennsylvania…  the list is long.

The "Watergate Babies" of 1974 lurched the Democrat Party to the Socialist-Fascist Left, which has been driving America unceasingly in that direction ever since. (Believe it or not, some of them are still infesting Congress 40 years later: Pat Leahy of Vermont, Tom Harkin of Iowa, Max Baucus of Montana, George Miller and Henry Waxman – although all except Leahy have announced  retirement at their terms’ end).

Reagan was able to slow down the Dem drive to the Left in the 80s, which is all the Gingrich "Contract with America" capture of the House accomplished after 1994.

Until 1994, the Dems had controlled the House since 1930 – 64 years – with two short interregna (46-48/52-54).  In 1994 the Gingrich Pubs gained 54 seats to hold a 230-204 majority.  In addition, the Pubs won 8 seats in the Senate to gain a majority there as well, 52-48.  The GOP would keep their House and Senate majorities (save for a Dem 1 seat minority in the Senate 2000-2002) until 2006. 

In that year, Harry Reid became Majority Leader with a 1 seat 51-49 majority, while Nancy Pelosi became Speaker with a 31 seat gain and a 233-202 majority.  As we all know, even with a Republican House, a Republican Senate, and a Republican President from January 2001 to January 2007, the expansion of federal government spending, rules, regulations, and control over our lives expanded. 

This, of course, exploded under the Pelosi-Reid Congress, then went nuclear with Zero after 2008.  In response, in 2010, voters rebelled, electing 63 new Pubs to the House, making John Boehner Speaker with a 242-193 majority. 

Voters did not see fit to do the same for the Senate – thus even with a 6-seat loss, Reid remained at the helm with a 53-47 majority.  In 2012, Reid expanded that to 55-45, while Boehner shrank to 234-201.  Currently, the Senate is at 55D-45R, and the House at 233R-199D with 3 vacancies.

And as we also know so fully well, the GOP House majority, even though it has full Constitutional control of the federal purse strings, has refused to slow Zero’s light-speed acceleration of government spending, rules, regulations, and control over our lives.

In other words, all the talk and predictions we are hearing about November 2014 being a "massive" Republican victory on a par with 2010 and/or 1994 means nothing.  Such a victory will mean nothing because 1994 and 2010 meant nothing in terms of reversing the ever-increasing control by the Left of government spending and regulation, as well as the major institutions throughout our society and culture.

No more slowing down the advance of the Left.  If America is to survive the Years of Zero, we must reverse that advance.  When the Left starts screaming that we want to "turn back the clock," we must reply:

"No, we have a new clock – a freedom clock, not a statist clock, that measures advances in individual freedom as moving forward, and advances in statist control of individual citizens as moving backward.  You regressive liberals have been turning back the clock of freedom for decades, and that is now going to stop."

In other words, what we need is The Obverse of 1974.  A genuine realignment of the Republican Party that takes over control of the party structure and elects leaders who will launch America in the direction of freedom instead of statism, of support for America’s culture and institutions instead of their destruction.

So – are you ready for the good news?  We just might get it.   2014 just might be our 1974.  That means the whole enchilada, with sour cream and guacamole on top.  The Senate (keeping the House is a given) and the takedown of the Karl Rove RINO GOP pro-amnesty corrupt Establishment.

On Tuesday (3/18), RNC Chairman Reince Priebus predicted the GOP would inflict a "tsunami" victory over the Dems in November.  Then he proceeded to claim that there is a "consensus" within the GOP for amnesty legislation, aka, "comprehensive immigration reform."

Is he a schizo?  Has the corpus callosum been severed between the left and right hemispheres of his brain?  No, he’s just trying to suck up to Tea Partyers and Karl Rove at the same time.  That is not going to work.  He is going to get run over by Ted Cruz’s truck. 

And so is Mitch McConnell.  With endorsements by both Rand Paul and Rick Perry, he’ll most likely survive Matt Bevin’s primary challenge on May 20, then win the general easily.  He’ll then realize his dream of being Majority Leader.  But the intellectual leader of the Senate will be Cruz.

As Kurt Schlichter says this week (3/17) in The Tea Party Isn’t Dying – the GOP Establishment Is:

"The problem with the GOP Establishment is not its ideology – most of its members, in the abstract, probably generally agree with our positions. What they hate is that we intend to utterly upend their world. They have spent years in the Beltway, climbing the ladder, building careers, all within the system as it exists today. They are invested in that system just like the liberals, regardless of superficial differences over mere policy preferences.

They want to gather power within Washington then redistribute it after they take their cut. We want to re-wire the system so that Washington is left off the grid to wither back down to the miserable backwater it used to be – and should be."

Exactly.  This "re-wiring" of the political system will not happen the day after November 4, 2014.  But that is the day it will start.

The Dems had Nixon and Watergate to start the ticking of their statist clock.  We have Zero and Zerocare to start our freedom clock.  

What’s happened is that, with Zero, regressive statist liberalism has reached its final stage of efflorescence.  It’s a phenomenon you’ve noticed in many species of insects.  With the coming of spring, species like mayflies "bloom" – they explode in growth swarms, then die out.  We should understand all these Regressive Liberal spasms of outrage, intolerance, and rabid fascism as "blooms of insanity." 

Another way of looking at the Dems is that the 20^th Century is finally ending, the Fin de Siècle at last.

The term, meaning End of the Century, arose at the close of the 19^th Century to describe the cultural degeneracy, pessimism, deviancy, irrationalism, effeminacy, and rejection of bourgeois values then sweeping over Europe.  It was an efflorescence of counterculture lunacy – just what the Dems are experiencing today, their final hubristic bloom of political power and cultural influence before they vanish and die.

The two-fer is that the Rovian RINO Establishment is going to die with them.  The 1974 Obverse. Are you ready?
