HALF-FULL REPORT 08/24/12

I’ve known Peggy Noonan for 27 years (when she came on board the Reagan White House in 1985), and for my money this is the funniest thing she’s ever written:

"It is good that Joe Biden is going to the Republican National Convention next week to hold high the flag of his party. People make fun of his gaffes, of his embarrassing verbal forays, but he’s no fool and he knows how to take it to the other guy. The speech he is working on, to be given in the heart of downtown, just across from the convention site, will be stirring and stentorian: ‘All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Tampa, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words, ‘Ich bin ein Tampon’."

************

That’s for openers, folks.  This HFR won’t be a total laugh-fest, for there are serious things to discuss, but we going to be spending some fun time in Guffaw City.

How about this?  Everywhere Romney and Ryan go now, they’re drawing outsize crowds cheering them on.  Zero, not so much.  Team Zero’s excuse?  Get ready for it, yes, spokesrobot Jan Psaki (she has to be a robot because she was able to say this with a straight face) claimed, "We are intentionally limiting crowd sizes at the President’s rallies."  I kid you not.

The best reporting on Zero’s campaigning is by the London Daily Mail’s US correspondent, Tony Harnden.  Today (8/24) he explains how it has become a "joyless slog."  Excerpts:

"In 2008, the Obama campaign was full of endless possibilities and expectations of a bright new horizon. This time, it’s a joyless slog. And there’s something else: Obama now tends to look emptily past rather than at his audiences. It’s as if the light in his eyes has gone out.

Significantly, the mood of the crowds is different. There is a sullenness, even resentment, that was not present in 2008. Ask an Obama supporter about their man and as often as not you will get a few words about him and then a demeaning attack on Romney or Ryan.

Another remarkable thing is that many of those at Obama’s events – like many people across the country – are not listening to him. In Reno on Tuesday evening (8/21), it was at times hard to follow what Obama was saying because of the chatter."

Then there is the astounding Newsweek – Newsweek! – cover story this week (8/19 issue):  Hit The Road, Barrack! Why We Need A New President.  This is gargantuan, not only because one of the Dems’ media flagships is calling for Zero to lose in November, but also the author is a world-renowned, deeply respected Harvard historian, Niall Ferguson.

After reading Ferguson’s devastating demolishment of the Zero Presidency, you can revel in the conniption fits it’s giving the moonbats.

The main moonbat site, Daily Kos, has this story in response: Newsweek Magazine Needs To Be Put Out Of Business Permanently.  All over America, lefties are pulling their hair out by the roots over this.  They are so cute when they do that.

************

They are freaking out in anger because they are freaking out in fear.  They know, however much they scream No! No! It can’t be true!, that Zero is going down the drain and all their power and influence goes with him.

The best current read on this is Why Romney Will Defeat Obama (8/22) – solid reasoning by a fellow philosopher, Dr. Jack Kerwick.

************

Backing Kerwick up is a University of Colorado state-by-state analysis that has correctly predicted the outcome of the last eight presidential elections (eight straight since Reagan over Carter in 1980).  The prediction for 2012 came out this week (8/22): a Romney Electoral College not-even-close victory, 320-218.  The authors’ key observation:

"What is striking about our state-level economic indicator forecast is the expectation that Obama will lose almost all of the states currently considered as swing states, including North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida."

Add to this that Romney has now overtaken Zero in Michigan.  If you really want a knee-buckler, though, the latest poll shows that Zero could lose Illinois.  If that happens, we’re looking a Reagan-level landslide.

Well, maybe not quite.  Reagan obliterated Carter 489-49 – he even carried California and New York, 44 states in all.  Romney won’t match that, but here’s the HFR’s pre-Labor Day state-by-state prediction:

Romney 357, Zero 181.  Zero will be lucky to carry 14 states:  Hawaii, California, Washington, New Mexico, Minnesota, Illinois, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland + DC.  That’s if he’s lucky.  He could lose some of these too.

************

In the HFR’s Good News Department this week, here’s a trio:

*On Monday (8/20), Holder Justice caved in to Gov. Bob McDonnell and approved Virginia’s Voter ID law.

*On Tuesday (8/21), the EPA suffered a major legal defeat, with the Federal Court of Appeals gutting the EPA’s fascist power grab via the Clean Air Act.  Environmentalists are wailing and teeth-gnashing.  Note that this was a Texas victory – the state successfully challenging federalie fascism in federal court.

*On Tuesday (8/21), Texas won another victory in federal court to cut off funding for Planned Parenthood.  Go Texas!

************

In the Yes, Virginia, They Really Have Lost Their Minds Department, we have this gem.  This is not a spoof, this is for real.

The Democrat Party is going to start its convention in Charlotte next Friday (8/31) with an official celebration of Islam.  It’s called Jumah at the DNC, at which 20,000 Moslems are expected to attend, fawned over by Dem leaders, and presided over by an Islamist Imam.

After their full-court embrace of Islam, a religion that treats women as sub-human, the Dems will then proceed to focus their convention on denouncing the Republicans’ "War on Women."  Islam has been conducting a monstrously real war on women for fourteen centuries.

Can Dems really be this blindly stupid to not see the hideous irony?  And stupid enough to expect millions of voters across the country not to see it too?  Yep, no doubt about it.

************

The list of Hollywood stars attending Zero’s 2008 convention in Denver was as long as your arm (Oprah Winfrey, Ben Affleck, Richard Dreyfuss, Chevy Chase, on and on).  The list of such stars attending Zero’s convention this year in Charlotte is as short as your little finger – they’re all staying away from the Dems.

Meanwhile, in Tampa next week, the Pubs will be entertained by Willie Nelson, Kid Rock, Wyclef Jean, Rodney Atkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lee Greenwood, and The Oak Ridge Boys.  Who do you think will be having more fun?

The juxtaposition between the Pub & Dem Conventions is going to be enormously instructive to voters – instructive on an emotional level.  The emotional message of the Republicans will be one of enthusiasm, excitement, confidence, and optimism.  The emotional message of the Democrats will be one of anger, blame, fear, and envy.

Triumph vs. Defeat.  The message will be very clear.

************

In Aborting Akin yesterday (8/23), I discussed how the Dems are flipping out and turning Charlotte into a Pro-Abortion Convention of Feminazi Rage.

Breitbart is now focusing on President Infanticide and how the Dem Platform does not exclude partial-birth murder.

Jack Cashill today (8/24) follows this up with a marvelous missive, Dems Better Put Some Ice on that ‘Rape’ Talk.  It’s a helpful reminder of what disgusting pigs they are.

************

The mountain of evidence keeps piling higher that the Zero Presidency is the most criminal in American history.  Thomas Sowell makes a good case this week why.  So does my friend Cort Kirkwood. These are impeachable offenses – among so many others.

And there should be no doubt that Eric Holder is the most criminal Attorney General in US history.  As this interview with Rick Santelli (8/23) makes clear, Holder belongs in jail with Zero’s biggest fund-raiser, Jon Corzine.

************

We’ll close with what has to be an ultimate example of Democrat derangement infecting the Justice Department.  Holder Justice is actually recruiting attorneys and staff who are "intellectually disabled."  You read that right.

The Federal Government wants to hire people with "psychiatric disorders and intellectual disabilities."  If they "self-identify" themselves as such, applicants with these disorders will be given preference in hiring.

Of course, we’ve known all our lives that federal bureaucrats are intellectually disabled.  It’s the only job they are capable of handling.  But to brag about it, publicly recruit morons, and put them at the head of the hiring line?  Not even Ayn Rand could make that up.

On November 6th, we are going to start getting rid of this literally mindless insanity just in time.
