A HERO IN ALASKA

Alaska’s Frank Murkowski has my nomination for the most courageous governor in the US. Sick and tired of spineless Washington Republicans unable to overcome the religious worship of the Alaska tundra by Democrats and Eco-Fascists, Murkowski has announced oil and gas lease sales for offshore drilling in the Beaufort Sea off the coast of ANWR (the sacred and holy Alaska National Wildlife Refuge).

These waters are state property – not the property of the federales who have no jurisdiction. The beauty of Murkowski’s decision is that it includes allowing slantline drilling in the waters of all 425 miles of coastline from Point Barrow to the Canadian border – two million watery acres in all – with wells drilled at an angle to access the oil under ANWR land. The lease sales are expected to be conducted this October.

“The State of Alaska will not submit to the dictates of America’s extreme environmental community,” Murkowski says. “Just as Texas and Louisiana have done, Alaska will exercise its sovereign authority for offshore development. While the US House and Senate remain grid-locked over opening ANWR for development, I am not burdened with that process.

“America should not be held hostage by Middle East imports,” Murkowski continued. “Motorists should not have to pay $2 or more for a gallon of gasoline. Alaska oil and natural gas can help balace the equation. The offshore area in our sovereign waters that I am opening up for development can produce up to 1.6 million barrels of oil for America per day.”

To The Point salutes Alaska Governor Murkowski. America is desperate need of more governors like him.
