HALF-FULL REPORT 09/16/11

Little doubt who the HFR Hero of the Week is, right?  No one else but a 70 year-old retired cable guy from Queens named Bob Turner.

Let’s put his victory on Tuesday (9/13) into real historical perspective.  It’s not just that New York’s 9th Congressional District has been held by the Dems since the election of 1922.  It’s that Dems have held it for all but nine years since 1857[1].  So Turner’s win is about as historic as congressional turnovers get.

The effects are immediate, in no way confined to being a Dem panic signal for 2012.

First, NY9 drives a stake through the heart of Zero’s "Jobs Bill" (what Jack Kelly calls Son of Porkulus).  It is now officially DOA.  Maybe that’s what Zero wanted, for the Pubs to vote it down so he could blame the continuing recession on them.  NY9 ends this game.

The Pubs know they can now kill the bill and the public will support them.  As the NY9 results were coming in, GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell announced the bill was "not serious," and nothing more than "a hodgepodge of retread ideas."

Second, Zero is now forced to take specific pro-Israel actions at a critically dangerous time for Israel.

He will now order his hate-Israel UN Ambassador, Susan Rice, to veto the upcoming Security Council vote on granting full statehood for the Palestinian Arabs.  He’s got to flip the bird to the Saudis and their impossibly arrogant (then again, when aren’t they?) threat that the veto would end the "special relationship" between them and the US.

Well, hallelujah.  It’s about time our relationship with the financiers of 9/11 and Wahhabi Islamism all over the world ended.

He will tell Turkey’s Erdogan to back down on his war threats, to the extent of promising to send US 6th Fleet warships to block Turkish warships from "protecting" the next international moonbat flotilla trying to reach Gaza.

He will be more receptive to Pub efforts to defund aid to Egypt (which keeps its economy alive) should Egypt persist in anti-Israel activities.  And he’ll never call Israeli settlements in Judaea & Samaria "illegitimate," nor demand Israel return to its pre-1967 cease-fire lines ever again.  All in all, Bob Turner put Bibi Netanyahu in the catbird seat.  Nice work, Bob.

************

Of course, there’s more.  The Dems are hilariously whistling past their NY9 graveyard, with Debbie Washerwoman claiming they lost because NY9 "is a very difficult district for us," and Pelosi Galore actually saying that losing the seat they’ve had for 89 years is "a good day" for Dems as it will make them "buckle down."

Elections guru Stuart Rothenberg made it very clear that Turner’s opponent, long-time Dem pol and orthodox Jew David Weprin lost because he had "an albatross around his neck named Obama."  That albatross is now around the neck of the entire Democrat Party.  Here’s one bottom line you’ll hear discussed at Capitol Hill watering holes like Bullfeathers:

"If a Republican can take NY9 going away, 54-46, then a Republican can take California in 2012. Like Sinatra’s song about New York, if you can make it here you can make it anywhere – even California.  Way less than half of folks there approve of him now, you know – check out the latest Field Poll."

This will elicit a response something like, "Yeah, can’t you see Rick Perry barnstorming around California saying, "Elect me, and I’ll do for California what I did for Texas"?

Which is why Dems, in full panic mode, will be attacking Perry ever more hysterically.

************

Not directly now, for their strategy is to get Perry’s nomination opponents to do it for them – as we saw in their asinine debate in Tampa on Monday (9/12).  As Jeff Kuhner, head of the Edmund Burke Institute, accurately observes, Zero’s last hope of getting reelected is to "provoke the GOP presidential candidates to tear each other apart… and that is exactly what they are doing."

For Flip Flopney to condemn Perry’s "Ponzi scheme" criticism of Social Security is sheer demagoguery, especially since Flip himself compared it to a criminal enterprise in his book No Apology.  Then again, as  liberal comedian Mark Shields points out, "Romney has more positions than the Kama Sutra."

One-upping Flip in demagoguery was Michele Bachmann.  Desperately trying to reinsert herself back in contention after her wallflower performance last week, she came across as a shrill shrew advocating junk science with plaintive pleas about "innocent 12 year-old girls."  Turns out she’s just as hypocritical as Flip since she’s never uttered a word of protest as a Minnesota Congresswoman against her own state’s mandatory vaccination laws.

Worse than her ignorance of science was her ignorance of the Constitution.  Here’s what she said:

"No state has the constitutional right to force a person as a condition of citizenship to buy a product or service against their will. It’s unconstitutional… whether it’s the state government or whether it’s the federal government."

We really don’t want a president who doesn’t understand that, via the Constitution and the 10th Amendment, states have inherent powers while the federal government has enumerated powers – which means that states can have any law they want unless the Constitution forbids it, while the federal government cannot have any law at all unless the Constitution authorizes it.

Bachmann is clueless on this.  Romneycare is a stupidly bad law, but it is not unconstitutional, while Obamacare is.

So Bachmann is flaming out – as Rush Limbaugh says, she "jumped the shark" on Gardasil – while criticism of Perry regarding it has been neutered by this video and this story which have gone viral because of their emotional power.

Romney now may suffer the same flame-out after being endorsed by Jimmy Carter last night (9/15) on MSNBC.  It’ll be hard to recover from a kiss of death as lethal as that.

And meanwhile, back at the ranch in Wasilla, The Huntress watches and waits.  She’s not going to let Perry win by sheer default.  He faltered too this week.  If he continues to do so, she may pounce.

************

Another immediate consequence of NY9 this week is by highlighting Dem glaringly exposed weaknesses, it focuses attention on the entire collection of scandals they are enmeshed in.  Zero and his government are starting to drown in an ocean of scandal.

My pal Quin Hillyer has a marvelous compendium of all the incredible corruption at the Zero Justice Department.  It’s worth reading entire and following all the links.

Solyndra-gate is burgeoning into an epic of corruption.  There’s now speculation on the Hill that it may result in calls for impeachment proceedings by a number of House Members.

Now, leaked White House emails reveal a massive Obamacare accounting fraud of hundreds of billions.

Dems are asking each other, what’s next?  If there’s this much smoke, there have to be a lot more fires. Like Lightsquared.  The Dems are in such a state of funk that they are getting way beyond buyer’s remorse wishing they had chosen Hillary.  Oh no – here’s how bad it is.

Believe it or not, a number of Dem Congressistas are thinking of cooperating with their Pub counterparts in impeaching Zero.  One of them actually whispers, "Impeaching this guy would be the best thing we as a party could do – divorce ourselves from his corruption, pin it all on him where it belongs."

Might be a hard sell to get Pelosi Galore to buy into, though.  It’s just as hard a sell to the Pub leadership, too – they would much prefer to let Zero twist in the wind.  "Why try to hang him when he’s hanging himself?" they ask.

************

Of course, Zero isn’t corrupt all by himself – his entire party is completely complicit.  To get across what they are doing to us, the New Tampa Republican Club made a 60-second video.  It is quite possibly the most politically powerful 60 seconds you have ever seen.  It is entitled, simply, "Doorbell."

On to some fun news in China and France.

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard is in Dalien, China, where he reports that the Chicom economy is headed for a hard landing. Fitch is about to downgrade China.  The banks are anorexically capitalized, yet inflation is raging and their credit boom is worse than ours was before the sub-prime crisis.  The Chicoms may soon be dining on humble pie.

How’s this for a cool headline?  Praying in Paris Streets Outlawed.  You’ve seen the pictures of Moslem men cluttering up Paris streets on Fridays for the purpose of turning Christian Parisians into Dhimmis:

paris_prayers.png

Now Sarkozy’s government is putting an end to it, in Paris and then all of France – and with force if necessary.  Maybe it’s not Eurabia just yet.

We’ll close with this thrilling report from the liberal bastion of Silicon Valley, where a group of high tech investors have teamed with an evangelical Christian non-profit, Champion The Vote.  They are "using sophisticated data-mining techniques to compile a database of every unregistered born-again and evangelical Christian and conservative Catholic in the country" – with the goal of registering five million new conservative Christians to vote in 2012.

And this is emanating from California.  There really is hope, folks, lots of it and not far away.
