HALF-FULL REPORT 05/27/11

OK, let’s all try to remain calm.  Do your best not to dance on a tabletop, hurt your back doing cartwheels, or yelling WHAHOO!! so loud you’ll frighten the neighbors.  But there’s no doubt, boys and girls:

Sarah’s going for it.  Game on.

The clues are many and unmistakable.  Telling Greta she has the fire in her belly.  Buying a campaign headquarters home in Arizona.  Kicking her campaign off with a two-hour documentary on her life that first opens next month (June) in movies theatres in Iowa, then New Hampshire, then South Carolina, then Nevada – the exact initial caucus/primary schedule – then nationwide.

This Sunday (5/29), she rolls into Washington DC to appear at the Rolling Thunder patriotic motorcycle rally driving this:

Although don’t be surprised if she shows up at the Washington Monument riding a Harley.

Next week, she continues up the east coast all the way to New Hampshire.  Enough clues for ya?  You betcha. 

Anyone foolish enough to believe enemedia agit-prop claiming Palin isn’t bright or ready enough for prime presidential time should ask one of the savviest state politicians of modern times, California’s Willie Brown.

Back in July 2009, he told the truth about her:  "Sarah Palin is a political genius."  "Palin has some of the best political instincts I have ever seen," is Willie’s warning to those who misunderestimate her at their peril.  Just look at how she’s rolling her campaign out right now, if you want an example.  She’s playing the enemedia and the whole presidential campaign announcement game like a Stradivarius.

So – when will she actually do the deed, make a formal announcement?  The latest it could possibly be now is July 4^th.  The earliest is at Rolling Thunder on Sunday.  Whenever it comes, you can depend that the timing, the venue, and the manner will be unconventional.

Who will she pick as her running mate?  This decision is a ways off, but as of now she’s favoring Marco Rubio and Herman Cain.  She could swing for beyond the bleachers and go for Michele Bachmann, but a two-woman ticket is very unlikely.

She’s well aware of the reports than the US Hispanic population is over 50 million, but also aware that at least one-third of them are illegals, and that she’ll never carry California where so many of them are.  Even so, Marco brings a lot to the ticket, and virtually guarantees she’ll carry Florida.  Besides, as she says, "Marco is cool."

This is very far from a done deal.   And she has to sew up the nomination first, not a low hurdle.  That said, my bet now is that it’s Palin-Rubio.  Party on, folks.  The fun has begun.

A big part of the fun will be watching the other Pub candidates as they compete with the Mama Grizzly – for they will compete with her in going after Zero and the Dems.

Take Tim Pawlenty.  After watching all the news reports of Zero drinking Guinness and playing ping pong, he sent out this Twitter message today (5/27):

@BarackObama sorry to interrupt the European pub crawl, but what was your Medicare plan?

Did you see yesterday’s story (5/26) about the Supreme Court upholding Arizona’s business immigration law – and note that it was a 5-3 decision, meaning one Justice didn’t vote?  Pawlenty did.  It was Elena Kagan who recused herself.  Within hours of the decision, T-Paw sent out this press release blurb:

"I am pleased that Justice Elena Kagen properly recused herself from participating in this ruling because of her previous position as President Obama’s Solicitor General, a precedent she must also follow when Obamacare is presented before the court." (emphasis added)

Most impressive is that Pawlenty launched his campaign last Monday (5/23) in Iowa, where he told Iowa’s corn farmers he wanted an end to ethanol subsidies.  That was his launch.  That took nerve. Keep an eye on this guy.

The guy with the biggest cojones in Washington this week, however, isn’t even an American – even though he grew up here.  The contrast between the adolescent ignoramus we have as president and what Israel has is blindingly stark.

Which is why Bibi Netanyahu is the HFR Hero of the Week.

His speech to a joint meeting of Congress on Tuesday (5/24) could not have been more presidentially masterful.  Speaking with hardly a note for 46 minutes, relaxed, funny, impeccably articulate, with unbroached moral confidence, Bibi owned the room.

As you watch the video (after reading the whole HFR now – it lasts three-quarters of an hour), you’ll say to yourself, here is a mensch:

Jack Kelly had to laugh at Zero and British PM David Cameron this week comparing themselves to Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher:  "Pygmies who imagine themselves to be giants."

But here’s a combo to match Reagan & Thatcher, a geopolitical partnership to make the world safer, freer, and more prosperous:  Sarah & Bibi.  Think of the power of that synergy.

When you watch that video of Bibi, you’ll see something amazing:  the entire House & Senate, every Democrat and Republican, standing up as one to applaud him over two dozen times.  In doing so, all 535 of these folks were sending two distinct messages:  one of support for Israel, the other brazenly flipping the bird to Zero.

Every House & Senate Dem was signaling a loud and clear rebuke to Zero’s demand that Israel self-destruct.  Every time they all stood up together joining their Pub colleagues was a direct humiliation and meant to be so.

This was underlined the very next day (5/25) by the astounding 0-97 vote in the Senate against Zero’s formally submitted budget.  The President of the United States must submit by law a proposed budget to Congress.  Zero did this in February, and Little Harry Reid finally had to have a vote on it this week.  Not one single Senator, not one Dem, not one Pub, not one Indie (there are 2) voted for the president’s budget.  Holy humiliation, Batman!

Etc… The language is Indonesian, and it is promoting Islam.  Scroll down and there are a number of silly posts in English.  Has Sarah’s site been hacked?  I’ve alerted her people and am waiting for an answer.  We’ll see how long this stays up or if it happens again.

[Update:  Seems fixed by early this evening.  All the Moslem Indonesian stuff is gone.]

Might as well ask this question.  The new Republican-majority House of the 112^th Congress convened on January 3, 2011.  It is now May 27, more than four months later.  What has it accomplished of genuine substance in that time?  What federal programs has it actually defunded, how much of the multi-trillion dollar deficit has it actually reduced?

Just asking.  Feel free to let us all know in the TTP Forum.

Another question:  Who knew the British killed Bin Laden?  Here’s the headline from the London Daily Mail (5/21):  New Al Qaeda Chief Pledges Major Attack on London to Avenge Bin Laden’s Death.  London? 

Here’s the question to ask Saif al-Adel and the rest of his AQ terrorist cowards:  Why not attack us instead of the Limeys, you goat sodomists?  Maybe because if you do, Seal Team Six will do to you what it did to OBL?  All bullies have yellow bellies, and Moslem terrorists are no exception.

One more question, this one for Arabs in Egypt:  Would you rather join the Moslem Brotherhood and persecute Coptic Christians – or eat? 

There are numerous stories like this about the growing power of Islamists in Egypt.  Then there are stories about how the cost of eating spikes for the Arab world.  That would give us real leverage, as the world’s largest wheat producer while Arabs, Egyptians especially, are the world’s largest wheat consumers.

A savvy sophisticated government would be able to finesse this, but Zero’s isn’t one of them.  Increasingly likely now is Egypt’s descent into starvation and bloody anarchy.  Tourism, the country’s largest money maker, has collapsed, while billions in capital flight are pouring out.  So there are no jobs, no money, and the cost of the main staple to fill Egyptian stomachs – bread – is rocketing up.

Egypt is set to implode within the next few months.  Expect pleading demands for the US to beggar itself and spend billions upon billions for the "millions of starving Egyptian children."  But we’re broke too.  We have no more money for the world to sponge off.  This is going to be a major mess  — on Zero’s watch.

This weekend is of course Memorial Day weekend.  It’s purpose is far more than to celebrate the start of summer and have barbeques with family and friends – although that’s great. 

The real purpose is to commemorate and honor our fallen American soldiers who gave their lives for our country.  For all its difficulties, for all the attempts of enemies without and within to destroy it, America remains to this day the freest and noblest land on earth.

It is thanks to those whom we honor on Memorial Day that this is so.

Over 100,000 of them lay in military cemeteries in Europe alone, beautifully maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission.  Take a few moments to watch this clip of the ABMC’s film Fields of Honor:

On this Memorial Day, with our country facing monumentally grave dangers, the way to best honor their ultimate sacrifice is to commit ourselves to ensuring that it not be in vain.
