HALF-FULL REPORT 04/30/10

We’ve a lot of ground to cover for this week’s HFR, but first let’s ask – who knew Connie Mack (R-FL) has gone senile at 42 years old?  Of course the Fascist Democrats of the Anti-American Left are hysterically demagoguing Arizona’s anti-illegal alien law.  But Connie?  What kind of bizarre mental dysfunction caused him to compare Arizona to Nazi Germany?

You’d expect RINOs like Karl Rove, Jeb Bush, and Lindsey Graham to wimp out.  And now we can see that for Lincoln Diaz-Barlart (R-FL), his Hispanic blood is thicker than patriotism.  But again, Connie?  Maybe the open-borders/cheap-labor-for-business folks at the Wall Street Journal got to him.

Whatever.  Let’s now go back to the HFR of January 23, 2009, which said:

What could be more appropriate, on the eve of the TTP Carefree Rendezvous, than to hoist a pint of Four Peaks Ale brewed here in Arizona to an inspiring woman Republican governor who drives liberals out of their minds because she is a pro-family, pro-life, pro-Christian, anti-tax, anti-government spending, anti-illegal immigration Reagan conservative.

Nope, we’re not talking about Sarah Palin – however much the HFR is happy to hoist a glass in admiration of her at any time.

We’re talking about another fine lady who, in addition to all the great qualities above, has the greatest name for drinking to one could ever ask:  Jan Drinkwine Brewer.

On Tuesday (1/21), she was sworn in as the Governor of Arizona [replacing Janet Napolitano, Zero’s Homeland Security head].  As the daughter of Perry and Edna Drinkwine, her maiden name is Jan Drinkwine.  She married a fellow named John Brewer.  Is that just too cool or what?

Republicans control both houses of the state legislature, passing a number of pro-American bills that Napolitano vetoed.  They’ll pass now.  Keep your eye on Arizona and Governor Brewer.  They’ll be worth watching.

They sure are now.  Arizona law SB 1070 (the full text is here) separates the American wheat from the Anti-American and wimp-out RINO chaff.  Jan Brewer is a true American hero and To The Point is proud to salute her.

The great majority of folks in Arizona agree.  64% of Arizonans support the law, and Brewer’s approval rating among them has shot up to 56% when just two weeks ago it languished at 40%.

The law is already working.  Even though it won’t take effect until the fall, Associated Press is reporting that illegal aliens are flooding out of Arizona.

The Fascist Democrat Party and the Treason Media that supports it is freaking out over Arizona because laws like it will spread like wildfire to other states unless the contagion is jackboot-stomped out quickly.  If Arizona doesn’t buckle and the law is upheld in the courts, then the great Dem dream of millions of illegal voters keeping them in power is gone.

Thus the full ugliness of Dem fascism is on display now, with all possible targets demonized.  Look at the thundering rage at Tim James and his YouTube ad saying if he’s elected governor of Alabama, driver’s license exams will be given only in English.

Yet nine other states already mandate by law English-only driver’s exams:  Arizona, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.  Tim’s next ad better point this out.

Or look at the anger directed at Scott McInnis who is saying if elected governor of Colorado he’ll push for a law similar to Arizona’s.  Sorry, Dems, he’s way ahead in the polls.

So the demonization and protests and threats may not work.  Take a look at this CNN story about a "tough new law that targets illegal immigrants" that starts out explaining: "Weeks of protests, rallies, lawsuits and candlelight vigils failed to stop a new state immigration bill — HB 1804 — from becoming the law in Oklahoma."

That was in 2007.  The law’s still in effect, been upheld by courts, and is working as intended.  The guys who wrote and passed Arizona’s law know this.  They are savvy folks who crafted the law carefully.  They’ve been around the track, successfully defending in federal court three previous anti-illegals laws: requiring proof of citizenship for voting in 2005, restricting welfare benefits to illegals in 2006, and making it a crime to knowingly employ an illegal in 2008.

The main drafter of Arizona’s SB 1070 is a seriously bright fellow, Kris Kobach, who holds a PhD in political science from Oxford and a JD from Yale.  (He’s also funny, and tells jokes like, "What do God and Obama have in common?  Neither has a birth certificate.")

He explains: "This law was carefully drafted to avoid any legal challenge on pre-emption in two ways.  One, it perfectly mirrors federal law. Courts usually ask whether a state law is in conflict with federal law, and this law is in perfect harmony with federal law.

"Two, the new law requires local law enforcement officers not to make their own judgment about a person’s immigration status but to rely on the federal government (via checking with Immigration and Customs Enforcement). As long as the state or city is relying on the federal government to determine immigration status, that will protect against a pre-emption challenge.

"Further, there’s a federal statute — 8 USC 1373, passed during the Clinton years — requiring the feds to verify a person’s immigration status any time a state or local official asks for it. The federal government cannot deny assistance to Arizona without breaking the law itself."

This is why Kobach, and Brewer, are confident SB 1070 can withstand any court challenge.  Let’s pray they are right and wish them Godspeed.  Arizona is Ground Zero in the war Mexico is waging against America.  Here is where the war can start to turn in our favor.

In the good-but-curious news department this week, is the resignation of Andy Stern from running the most anti-American Communist Left union in the country – and the one with the most influence with President Zero – SEIU.

As many TeaPartyers know, purple-shirted SEIU thugs often attempt to disrupt TeaParty events.  That the thugs’ leader is gone is wonderful news – but even better is that Stern was unable to replace himself with his protégé, straight-out Marxist-Fascist Anna Burger.  Instead, the new SEIU president is a nurse, Mary Kay Henry, who wants to get the union out of politics and back to "old-fashioned organizing."

SEIU is $85 million in debt, can no longer give a dime to ACORN, and is beset by lawsuits.  With the Stern Gang gone, neither SEIU nor ACORN will be the threat they promised to be during the November elections.

***
Especially since the Supreme Court last Friday (4/23) upheld Congress’ ban on government funding of ACORN.  ACORN is broke, and can’t sponge off taxpayers.  It’s dreams of massive voter fraud for the Dems are crushed.  Way cool.

***
Also on Friday (4/23) the second of three Navy SEALs, Jonathan Keefe, court-martialed for punching a Moslem terrorist was acquitted – the first, Julio Huertas, was acquitted the day before.  Now let’s hope the third SEAL, Matthew McCabe, will be set free when his trial is held on May 3rd.  It is Charles Cleveland, commander of Special Operations Command Central, who should be court-martialed for persecuting the SEALs and stripped of his rank – he’s a two-star – for this travesty.

Now, if you’d like some really good news, how about this:  This week’s issue (4/26) of Newsweek reveals that young women in America today are increasingly pro-life.  The article bemoans this (remember, this is Newsweak).  All the leaders of the pro-abortion movement are now "post-menopausal."  There is "no passion" for "abortion rights" among the "post-Roe generation."

The most delicious anecdote is where NARAL leader Nancy Keenan was so dejected by the size and demographic of the 37th March for Life rally in Washington last January 22nd.  There were 400,000 "anti-abortion-rights activists" as Newsweak calls them, and when Keenan saw them, she thought, "My gosh, they are so young…There are so many of them, and they are so young."

The "Millennial Generation" (born since1982) is becoming dramatically pro-life.  This generation is the hope of America.

Are you ready for some really funny news?  How about eco-alarmists getting frostbite trying to prove global warming?  For four years now, idiots trying to demonstrate the North Pole is melting have had to be rescued off the ice because they were freezing to death:  Anne Bancroft and Liv Arnesen in 2007, Lew Pugh in 2008, Pen Hadow in 2009, and yet another self-styled "eco-explorer" Tom Smitheringale last week.

All of them never expected the frozen Arctic Ocean to be so cold – after all, everyone knows it’s warm there now, right?  Having been to the North Pole 21 times myself – and never gotten frostbite or required rescuing of any kind – you can imagine how hilarious I find this.  Eco-explorers?  Try eco-bozos.

OK, everybody, it’s Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!  In protest against Comedy Central censoring a South Park cartoon episode after getting Moslem death threats for depicting Mohammed, Seattle cartoonist suggested all her readers draw a picture of him.

She’s been deluged by drawings.  I decided to submit photographs – not cartoons or drawings – of Mo instead.  Like this:

scotusnfrieze.jpeg

This is the a section of North Frieze of the Supreme Court’s Court Chamber, forty feet long and over seven feet high, of ivory vein Spanish marble sculpted by Adolph Weinman in 1932.

The picture you see here are three of the nine "lawgivers" carved by Weinman on the North Frieze. The figure on the right is Justinian. The figure on the left is Charlemagne. The figure in the middle, holding the Koran and the Sword of Islam, is Mohammed.

And I’ll submit this.  In 1415, an artist named Giovanni da Modena painted a huge fresco on an interior wall of the Church of San Petronio in Bologna depicting Dante’s Inferno:

modena1.jpg

As Dante described Mohammed being tortured in Hell, so Modena painted him (in the upper right corner) pinned to a rock and tormented by demons, clearly naming him:

I have another submission – from the Church of Our Lady built almost a thousand years ago in the 11th century in the Flemish (western Dutch-speaking Belgium) town of Dendermonde.

In 1685, the town council decided to commemorate the glorious victory of Christendom over the giant superpower of the day, the Ottoman Turks, at the Battle of Vienna – for it had been there, on September 12, 1683, that the Moslem Jihad to conquer Europe was defeated.

The council thus commissioned Flemish artist Mattheus van Beveren to sculpt a pulpit in the church depicting the triumph of Christianity over Islam.  He did so by carving an angel holding up the pulpit while standing upon a defeated Mohammed clutching the Koran:

Finally, I’ll submit a painting of Mohammed done by reverent Moslems themselves.  It is Moslems of the Sunni sect that forbid depictions of him.  For Shia Moslems, there’s no such prohibition.  Here is Mohammed preaching to his followers, painted in Tabriz, Persia in 1315:

mo-preach.jpg

Those are mine, to demonstrate what evil laughingstocks Moslems are for threatening anyone drawing or depicting Mohammed today.  I’m sure I’ll see yours on the TTP Forum!  Everybody Draw Mohammed!

Let’s close this week in further praise of what Jan Brewer and the Arizona Republicans have already accomplished with SB 1070.  Before the firestorm of its passage a week ago today (4/23), the Dems were seriously gearing up for an "Immigration Reform" bill granting amnesty and voting rights to tens of millions of illegals.

All the screams of "Nazis!" and "Racists!" did no good and could not save the Dems’ dream.  Yesterday evening (4/29), Zero caved, abandoning any push for the amnesty dream.  The Associated Press headlined the story:  Obama Takes Immigration Reform Off Agenda, and reported he was "sounding the death knell" for it.

That means amnesty for illegals is finished for the foreseeable future.  Republican majorities in Congress (and with far fewer RINOs) next term will squash any attempt to revive it like a bug.

Really good things happened this week.  There really is hope for America.
