HALF-FULL REPORT 08/14/09

A buddy of mine, whenever you’d ask how he was, would answer, "If I felt any better, I’d faint."

I suspect lots of TTPers are feeling so good this week they’re on the point of passing out.  Let’s all enjoy this while we can.  For maybe the Zerocrats will capitulate in the face of the first inkling of a Second American Revolution – for inklings are only what has begun.

But we must never forget that they are fascists for whom the aggrandizement of power is their life’s purpose.  And we must expect them to act accordingly.  Lock and load.

That said, let’s start the fun with the most amazing presidential gaffe of modern times, leaving any of George W. Bush’s parsecs behind.  That would be the enlightening moment when Zero, at his staged campaign rally in Portsmouth on Tuesday (8/11) compared ZeroCare to the Post Office.

So this guy bets his presidential farm on the government being in charge of the practice of medicine in America, and then says it will be run as efficiently as the Post Office with all its – quote – "problems."  No comment is necessary.  Zero trashed his program more than anyone else could.  If Bush made such a gaffe, can you imagine how the media would treat it as final incontrovertible proof that he was way too stupid to be president?

Speaking of stupidity – just how almost pathologically dumb are the Zerocrats and their supporters?  The question is prompted by a TTPer asking me what questions did I suggest could be put to her Congressman regarding ZeroCare at a town hall next week.

I quickly gave her the 10 questions of Tom Coburn’s, but then got to thinking there’s a far more important question:  Why is he (the Congressman) or any other Democrat in power focusing on health care at all?  Why the gargantuan diversion away from what their total focus should be on, jobs and the economy?

Unemployment is rocketing up into double digits, foreclosures are exploding, retail sales are crashing, the economy is imploding, the federal deficit for this year is $1.27 trillion and climbing – and these guys are passionate not about doing whatever it takes to fix this but health insurance and carbon caps?

America has the most prosperous and productive economy in the history of the world.  Fixing its problems is easy.  For starters, Congress could do four simple things that would right America’s economic ship immediately, and get businesses to start hiring:

  • Repeal Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Eliminate all taxes on capital gains
  • Ideally eliminate but at least reduce corporate taxes from 35% (the world’s highest) to 15%
  • Allow full expensing for business purchases including real estate

Of course, Congress should also throw ZeroCare and Cap/Trade bills in the toilet; allow energy companies to build nuclear power plants and get oil, gas, and coal out of the ground (including offshore); repeal TARP, the Stimulus Bill, and other bailouts; and enact sunset legislation for federal regulations.

If the Dems did this, they’d be heroes.  Americans would have jobs and would love to vote for them.  They’d have a lock on political power – and with the giant surge in federal tax revenues, they could afford the programs that are now causing multi-trillion dollar deficits.

Are they too stupid to see this?  No, they are blind – because they are religious fanatics.  Their religion is fascism – and they are blinded by it.

And like true religious zealots, they look upon dissent as immoral heresy.  That’s why Harry Reid this week (8/11) condemned town hall protestors as "evil-mongers."  They literally cannot conceive of how someone can honestly and intelligently disagree with them.  You are either stupid or evil if you do.  There are no other possible explanations for a true fascist.

OK, let’s venture out into the world for more fun stuff.  How about Burqas on the Beach?

burqas_on_the_beach.jpeg

The ancient city of Alexandria, now in Egypt, has always been an oasis of cosmopolitanism.  But now that it’s being taken over by Moslem Brotherhood Islamic fanatics, its culture is being destroyed, along with the rights of anyone who disagrees – women in particular. So women must wear a burqa, even to the beach! Why are Moslem men so afraid of women?

Standing up to Moslems are the Swiss.  This hilariously biased story in the British lefty paper Independent describes the popular movement in Switzerland to ban minarets for mosques (not mosques, just their minarets).  It quotes the leader of the movement:

"(Minarets) are symbols of a desire for power, of an Islam which wants to establish a legal and social order fundamentally contrary to the liberties guaranteed in our constitution."

True enough, but there is a quite practical reason for banning them.  Minarets were originally built as towers so the muezzin (the man who calls people to prayer) could climb up high and his call be heard by the town.  Nowadays, muezzins are gone, replaced in every mosque on the planet  by really loud loudspeakers which deafeningly blare the recorded call electronically.  Five times a day, including the middle of the night and before dawn.

No minarets means no obnoxious loudspeakers constantly intruding into people’s lives, well over 90% of whom are Christian, with typical Moslem arrogance.  Hurray for the Swiss!

You know the old joke, if a tree crashes in the forest and nobody hears it – who cares?  The same applies to the coming crash of the Russian economy.  It’s collapsed 11% last quarter and is so bad that even Putin’s puppet Medvedev admits it has "crumbled" and is at "a dead end."

For along time I have been saying Russia is doomed.  One reason out of many is the galactic level of alcoholism.  When Fox News reports "the average Russian drinks 50 bottles of vodka a year," that’s averaging men and women, and the latter drink far far less.  Millions of Russian men drink an average of a gallon of vodka a week.  Russia is history.  Goodbye.

Who knew Bernie Madoff was Chinese?

The Chinese economy is "a giant Ponzi scheme," according to famous investment analyst Andy Xie.  40% of the Chicom economy is dependent on exports, and export income has dropped almost 25% from a year ago.  The Baltic Dry Index (which measures global freight rates for bulk goods) is down 35% since its high of June 3 because Chinese demand is so low.

The Chicom Fed, the People’s Bank of China, reports that bank loans fell from $248 billion in June to $52 billion in July.  So many of the Chicoms’ stimulus billions have gone not into actual investment but stock market and real estate speculation of giant bubble proportions.

Here’s one stat to show just how much of a bubble:  On July 29th, the value of shares traded on the Shanghai stock exchange was higher than that of the US,UK and Japan combined.

Xie points out that the Chicoms are pumping all this up for the 60th anniversary of their takeover of China in October.  After that, he says, the bubble pops.

"Property prices could drop like Japan’s in the last two decades, which would destroy the banking system," says Xie.

What a shame… not.

Lastly, how about some great personally-important-to-you science news?

Back in November 2007 in Technology, Freedom, and Saving Lives, I talked about a dinner I had with Chief Justice John Roberts.  One topic of discussion was the connection between technology and freedom.  I gave the example of gene sequencing.

It first cost over a billion dollars to fully sequence one person’s entire genome, then hundreds of millions, now tens, but it will soon drop to tens of thousands, then less than a grand.  At that point, compounding pharmacists (thanks to a SCOTUS decision) can make a drug cocktail just for a single individual and his unique assemblage of genetic problems – a drug that the FDA cannot ban.  I told the Chief Justice this 20 months ago.

This week, a biotech company announced it can sequence a full human genome for less than 50K.  "The cost per genome is going down exponentially almost on a weekly basis," says one analyst of the technology.  "We’re on the path to under $10,000 in the next one to two years, and under $1,000 in the next five years."

This is huge.  It will result in millions of lives saved, and yours may be among them – especially because the FDA can’t get in the way.  It will keep trying of course, but the Chief Justice has been forewarned.

One last thought – y’all have fun at a town hall protest next week, y’hear?  Here’s Hannity’s list of upcoming Town Hall Protests, state by state.  If you’re in Colorado, try and attend the one TTPer Carol Kirkstadt is organizing.  Check out her website lavishlyundone.  The HFR is proud to raise its glass to Carol and all Real American TTPers.
