HALF-FULL REPORT 05/08/09

First up this week is something I should entitle Blown Away By Who You Are.  We have been deluged by TTPers who wish to participate in the Achilles Heel Project (AHP) and are simply in awe of their bios.

The talent pool of TTP – the variety and depth of accomplishments, experience, knowledge, and credentials in so many fields – is astounding.   We’re marshalling it for AHP, but I want to synergize it for TTP as a whole.  So we have formed a "social networking" site for this purpose:  http://tothepointnews.ning.com/.

Here is where TTPers can go to meet, chat, and collaborate with each other.  There are so many wonderful folks on TTP – here’s how you can all get to know yourselves.  Have fun and synergize!

Next is an announcement:  the TTP Summer Rendezvous –  the Winning the Revolution Rendezvous – will be in Williamsburg, Virginia from Friday, September 11 to Monday, September 14.

Colonial Williamsburg  recreates the America of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.  Nearby Jamestown is where the settlement of America began in 1607.  And close by is Yorktown, where America achieved victory in its War of Independence in 1781.

It is an incredibly emotional experience to be at Surrender Field, where the British troops under Lord Cornwallis gave up their arms and surrendered to George Washington while the British band played "The World Turned Upside Down."  This is where free America was born, this was where our Revolution was won.

What more appropriate place could there be – and what more appropriate date than September 11 weekend – for TTPers to join together and commit to winning our American liberty once again?

We’ll have prices and details shortly.  But if any of you live in the area (like Newport News, say) and would like to help us plan and organize, let us know at [email protected]. It will be much appreciated.

And where else should we have a Winter Rendezvous after Williamsburg but Lone Star Texas?  The Remember The Alamo TTP Winter Rendezvous will be in San Antonio next January.  We hope to see you at both…

Last week, in Imagine a Plan B Abroad, Rebel told TTPer Fred’s story of living in Panama.  The attractiveness of Panama got even better this week with the election of conservative businessman Ricardo Martinelli as president.

The region has been seeing the election of one communist after another – Correa in Ecuador, Ortega in Nicaragua, the FMLN in El Salvador, and of course, Chavez in Venezuela.  Bucking this trend, Martinelli will team up with his neighbor Alvaro Uribe in Colombia to offer a pro-capitalist, pro-prosperity agenda for the region.

Panama had 9.2% growth in 2008, one of the best in the world.  Martinelli wants to make 2009 just as good.  Panama is now a real bright spot amidst the impoverishing fascist gloom.  And remember, Panama has arguably the world’s best banking secrecy.  Congratulations, Panama!

We can’t let this HFR go by without hoisting a full glass of schadenfreude to that Cretin of the Senate, Arlen Specter.  Is this great or what?  Finally a politician of immense power and no principles gets stripped of his seniority and is looked upon as a schmuck by the party he betrayed and the party he betrayed to.

He has about as much chance of getting reelected to the Senate next year as the dogcatcher of Wilkes-Barre.  It is simply thrilling to see an ultimate RINO getting what he deserves.

Another thrilling sight may be coming to South Bend, Indiana on May 17.  That’s when President Abortion gives his speech at Notre Dame, and a large number of conservatives intend to get arrested in protest – "until the South Bend jail is overflowing."  I sure hope our TTPers who are ND alums and live nearby will be among them.

Such civil disobedience by conservatives is exactly what is needed right now – a civil rights movement of the right protesting anti-life fascism through civil disobedience and refusing to obey immoral laws.

The Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, the Vatican‘s highest court, Archbishop Raymond Burke, has now formally denounced Notre Dame’s honoring a man "aggressively advancing an anti-life and anti-family agenda" as "the greatest scandal."

It’s inspirational to see Catholics start standing up so firmly for Christian values and against the Evil of Zero.  May 17 will put a spotlight on that evil, and could be the start of a mass Anti-Zero Movement.

That evil was on blatant display this week with the mafia-like shakedown of Chrysler bondholders, who received death threats if they didn’t let the government steal their wealth and give it to the union thugs of the UAW.

But it’s much worse than that.  What is going on is "the fascist nationalization of the US financial system."  An insightful explanation of how this is being done is now up on American Thinker.  Note that the article mentions Pimco – Pacific Investment Management Company which runs the Total Return fund, the world’s largest bond fund –  as a gigantic multi-billion dollar beneficiary of Zero’s fascist schemes.

Perhaps it’s only a coincidence that the CEO of Pimco is a Moslem named Mohamed El-Erian.

Speaking of fascism, you are not going to believe the extent of it in a bill currently in Congress sponsored by hyper-left Linda Sanchez (D-CA).  HR 1966 has the Orwellian title of The Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act.

In the name of "protecting the children," HR 1966 would make it a crime, subject to fines and imprisonment, for anyone to transmit "in interstate or foreign commerce any communication" – including "email, instant messaging, blogs, websites, telephones, and text messages" – "with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person."

Read that, and the bill text (via the link above) carefully.  Sanchez wants to put you in jail if you pick up the phone or use the Internet and cause someone "emotional distress."  We should call HR 1966 The Fascist Destruction of the First Amendment Act.

We could also all contact this porcinely obese Congresswoman to tell her that she is guilty of violating her own law, that communicating her sponsorship of this fascist legislation via her website has caused us "substantial emotional distress," and that therefore she belongs in jail, not in Congress.

Lastly, the HFR raises a full glass of gratitude, honor, and respect to one of the greatest pro-freedom patriots ever in Congress, Jack Kemp.

There have been many encomiums to him since his passing on May 2nd.  Richard Rahn’s The Jack Kemp I Knew focused on his contribution to economic freedom.  I became close friends with Jack working on the Reagan Doctrine together to rid the world of the Soviet Union.  Jack was true-blue "FTC."

Both my wife and I cried when we learned a while ago that his passing was imminent, for we both loved him dearly.  But what I’d like to do is tell you a story about him that’s never been told, a tragic story of how he was prevented from becoming President of the United States.

At the Republican Convention in August of 1988, George H. W. Bush, after gaining the presidential nomination, jaw-droppingly stunned every Republican on the convention floor and across the country by choosing Dan Quayle as his running mate.  It was so goofy that no one understood why Bush would do such a thing.  Here’s what happened.

Jack Kemp was a presidential candidate that year along with Bush and others including the leader of the "Religious Right" at the time, Pat Robertson.  During the campaign, Robertson was enraged that fellow evangelical leader Tim LaHaye campaigned not for him but for Kemp instead.  LaHaye had a huge evangelical following, and Robertson developed a vicious hatred towards Kemp for taking evangelical votes which he thought were rightfully his, away from him via LaHaye.

Bush won the primaries and the nomination but Robertson still carried an unquenchable grudge.  At the convention, word leaked out that Bush had chosen Jack Kemp to be his running-mate.  Robertson stormed into Bush’s office set up in the Superdome in New Orleans and in high fury threatened that if Kemp was on the ticket, he would walk from the campaign and ensure that "the millions of my followers" would either sit on their hands or work for Bush’s Democrat opponent.

Rather than telling Robertson to go to hell and shove his threat up his nose, Bush caved – and then panicked.  He had to announce who his choice was in 24 hours.  In idiotic desperation, he plucked doe-eyed Danny Quayle out of complete obscurity as an unknown senator he thought conservatives would accept.

He never told Kemp, who found out about the switcheroo while standing on the convention floor as it was announced.  Everyone around him saw him fighting off the tears.

Because Pat Robertson put a personal grudge over what was best for his country, Jack Kemp was not Vice-President, elected with Bush in 1988.  As VP, he would never have stood for Bush reneging on his "read my lips: no new taxes" pledge, which cost Bush the presidency in 1992.

A Bush-Kemp victory in 1992 meant there never would have been a Clinton presidency.  And Kemp would likely have gone on to win the presidency himself in 1998.   So much history for the tragic worse, all because of a temper tantrum and a cowardly back-down from it.

This episode was one thing Jack never wanted to talk about.  He couldn’t bear to carry a grudge, nor dwell on what might have been.  He was such a wonderful gracious great-hearted soul.  I am so proud and grateful to have known him.
