The official Consumer Price Index increase of 7% over the past year would be more like 11& if real current housing costs were used:

But it is actually much worse than that.  The Consumer Price Index climbs faster than at any time since 1982 – using 2021 calculation methods.  Using the 1982 calculation methods, the price increase rate would be about 14% instead of the official almost 7%.  At this rate, the dollar would lose about half of its value in just four or five years, as it did during the 1970s.

The current rate of inflation is roughly at the peak level hit in 1979.  Real wages, corrected with the official 2021 method CPI dropped at a faster annual rate than at any time since the early 1950s; corrected a non-fraudulent CPI, real wage decrease is in the early Great Depression range.   Savers and investors are desperately reaching for yields to protect their principal against massive inflationary losses, but in doing so, they are taking on huge risks.

This will end with disaster; it is time to start calling homeless tent and tarp encampments “Bidenvilles”:
