SHUT YOUR MOUTH: The Democrat Fascist Assault on the First Amendment

The conservative "activist" community here in Washington got itself into a foaming lather last week over the attempt by Senate Democrats to subject their activities to criminal penalties.

Section 220 of the S.1 "lobbying reform" bill required all activists – even bloggers on the internet – who communicate in any way with 500 or more members of "the public" to register and file reports with the government as lobbyists, and face criminal penalties including heavy fines and one year in jail if they fail to do so.

It was a straightforward and outrageous assault on the First Amendment, true blue fascism embedded right in the very first Senate bill in our new Democrat-controlled Congress.  The New York Times had nary a word of complaint, nor did the rest of the major media.

The conservative blogosphere alerted so many folks who deluged their respective Senators with complaints that the offending section was stripped from the bill last Thursday (1/18) by a vote of 55-43.  Every single one of those 43 votes to retain Section 220 was a Democrat.

Leading the charge against Sec. 220 was my friend Richard Viguerie, one of the founders of modern American conservatism.  He counsels the threat is not yet over on his site, GrassrootsFreedom, for Pelosi Galore is trying to insert it into the House version of the legislation and then have it retained in the House/Senate reconciliation bill.

We owe Richard thanks for this. Now I'm talking to him about conservatives exposing the assault the Democrats are making on our 1^st Amendment free speech rights across the board.  For their "lobbying reform" is part of a growing comprehensive effort to silence and criminalize speech liberals don't like.

Earlier this month, a group of liberal moonbats held a National Conference for Media Reform in Memphis, which hailed Congressman Dennis Kucinch's call for the revival of the Fairness Doctrine.  Subsequently interviewed by Lou Dobbs on CNN, he announced he would be holding hearings and offering legislation.

The moonbat left, typified by DailyKos and Moveon.org, is all fired up at the possibility of shutting down conservative talk radio (thus it's known as the "Hush Rush" movement) at the point of a government gun.

When Ronald Reagan abolished the Fairness Doctrine in 1987, it made possible the explosion of conservative talk radio, and since "liberal talk radio" can't off the ground, liberal fascists want to force it upon us.  Here is Reagan's veto message to the Senate.  It's eloquence applies to today.

Last year, Algore and other environazis began using the term "global warming deniers" to anyone skeptical of their claim that evil human beings are overheating and destroying the planet.  For the enviros, a global warming denier is morally equivalent to a Holocaust denier, and they want folks to associate the two.

Google "global warming deniers" and you'll get 126,000 hits.  The Left is rapidly attempting to criminalize doubt in their global warming religion – for such doubt is for them a genuine religious heresy.  So we see calls for "Nuremberg-style trials" for deniers, for their denial amounts to a crime against humanity.  I am not making this up.

This past week, we were treated with the spectacle of the Weather Channel's "Climate Expert" Heidi Cullen called for denying AMS (American Meteorological Society) certification for television meteorologists skeptical of global warming.

Such skepticism is, for Heidi, proof of such ignorance as to mandate decertification:  "It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise."  Ah, Heidi, here's a news flash:  hurricanes in the southern hemisphere do rotate clockwise (here's the explanation on the NASA website).

Ted Kennedy and other senatorial fascists have been trying for years to pass federal hate-crime legislation.  Many states already have it, such as New York, which criminalizes thought by increasing jail time and fines based on the motive for committing a crime.

"Thought crimes" are a quintessential example of fascism.  Now the Democrats want to go beyond this and include "hate speech" into such thought crimes – and intend to do it with children.

Pelosi Galore will soon be sponsoring "anti-bullying" legislation punishing schoolchildren for "hate speech" – or its euphemism "verbal harassment" – regarding the "sexual orientation" or "gender identity" or "alternative lifestyle" or even "economic circumstance" of another kid on the playground.

I explained Why Liberals Are Fascists last August.  With their control of Congress, they are now going whole hog in proving they are fascist to the core. 

There shouldn't be anything more revolting (other than their fanatical desire that mothers be allowed to murder their own babies) than liberal Democrats criminalizing children's speech. 

What the "lobbying reform" frenzy this week may catalyze is conservatives' connecting the dots between all the various Democrat assaults on one of our most basic freedoms, the freedom of speech.
