BENEDICT TO THE RESCUE

In a week where California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed a hyper-leftwing pro-abortion lesbian “married” to her “partner” as his chief of staff, and South Africa’s Constitutional Court ordered Parliament to legalize homosexual “marriage,” the moral sanity exhibited by the Catholic Church was a welcome relief.

On Wednesday, November 29, the Vatican issued an Instruction entitled, Concerning the Criteria of Vocational Discernment Regarding Persons with Homosexual Tendencies in View of their Admission to Seminaries and Holy Orders, which now has the authority of canon law.

It reiterates that homosexual acts are “grave sins… intrinsically immoral and contrary to natural law.” The purpose of the Instruction is to “clearly affirm that the Church, even while deeply respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to Seminary or Holy Orders those who are actively homosexual, have deep-seated homosexual tendencies, or support the so-called gay culture.”

Pope Benedict is taking a moral stand, standing firmly against the shrieking gales of limp-wristed liberalism. He is determined not only to rid his church of pederastic perverts, but is determined that his church is the moral rock of St. Peter that it is supposed to be.

You learned that Benedict was going to do this last April in The De-Homosexualization of the Catholic Church, which concluded:

“Benedict XVI is going to give people what they spiritually hunger for and no longer find in their pews today: a firm place to make their moral stand. This Pope is going to regenerate the moral revival of Christianity – to the great benefit of all Christendom, to the great benefit of Western Civilization, and to the great frustration of its enemies.”

For as I explained earlier that month in Miracle Max in Europe, Benedict is Europe’s best chance for survival:

“For many astute observers, Europe is doomed by a ‘perfect storm’ of inescapably negative demographics, welfare state bankruptcy, and the creeping seizure of its cities by Moslem immigrants. Yet the cause of all three is Europeans’ willful abandonment of their cultural souls. Restore that to them and all three of the clouds creating this perfect storm start to clear.

”Such restoration can only be done with and cannot be done without Christianity – and not some wishy-washy, apologize-for-the-Crusades, can’t-we-all-get-along, multicultural-diversity-transgendered theological goulash, but a straight-talk, look-you-in-the-eye Christianity of muscular moral certainty with no excuses and no apologies.”

Thus this Instruction is only the beginning in Benedict’s struggle for the soul of Western Civilization. Wish him well.
