Candidate Trump’s “No Amnesty” pledge August 31, 2016

It’s 6am and I’m back in the HFR saddle.  I’m very grateful for Rod Martin and Jack Kelly so ably standing in while I was gone – thanks, guys!

I always look forward to early Friday mornings, ready to roll with the HFR.  Yet it’s called the Half-Full Report to avoid being Pollyannic – and let’s face it, Pollyanna is in the Intensive Care ward this week hoping she won’t be on life support soon.

This has been building for some time – a series of unforced errors accumulating towards disaster.  E.g.:

*not having a Come-to Jesus meeting with McConnell and Ryan soon after November 8, informing them they will immediately repeal Obamacare, with the former eliminating the Senate filibuster, as the first order of business of the 115^th Congress; that they will pledge to support and enact their new president’s agenda without delay or be replaced as Majority Leader and Speaker.

*not preventing Sessions from recusing himself, thus allowing the ridiculous appointment of Comey-crony Mueller to witch-hunt the new presidency.

*not choosing John Bolton as National Security Advisor who would have cleaned out Obama holdovers from the National Security Council, choosing an Obama-promoted squish instead.

There have been many others, resulting in Bannon and Gorka out, a plethora of swamp monsters still in, and “Republican control” of Congress a tragic joke.

And now it has come to this: #AmnestyDon is the new hot Twitter hashtag; Leftists, Never-Trumpers Gloat over MAGA Voters’ DACA Dismay is the headline this morning, and people are burning their MAGA hats.

This is true tragedy, a self-inflicted one of Greek Mythology proportions.  President Trump has dug himself into a deep hole, and it’s not just his DACA dance with Chuck and Nancy.

One core problem is his being in girlish thrall to men in uniform.  McMaster and Kelly are ordering Trump to knee-cap his own presidency – and he’s saluting.

McMaster and Kelly are bossing him around and he can’t say no to them – like agreeing to Obama’s Iran Deal (as reported in the NYT yesterday 9/14), never mentioning “Radical Islamic Terrorism” in his 9/11 speech on Monday, or signing on Thursday (9/14) the cowardly Charlottesville Resolution of Congress – a total Pub/Trump surrender to Left intimidation that only condemns “White nationalists, White supremacists,” and other non-threats to America with no mention of the real threat, the fascist thugs of Antifa.

And now they are pressuring him to surrender his core promise of No Amnesty.  Just ten days ago (9/05) he tweeted:

FYI, Donald, the Pentagon reports (9/06) that of the some 800,000 “Dreamers,” less than 900 serve in the military.  And here are 9 Lies about DACA many of your supporters think you’re buying into.

The scariest thing about Trump-DACA is the collapse of trust by Trump supporters.  If Trump breaks his promise on No Amnesty, then there’s no promise of his you can trust, and “it’s over,” as Hannity says. The IBD (the best op-ed page in the US) calls it “Trump’s ‘Read my lips’ moment”. Steve King is right:

The key word is “If.”  The conservative reaction to Trump’s DACA-dancing with Chuck and Nancy has been so volcanic that he must realize he has to fix this fast.

Hopefully, the reaction will be such a cold shower it will shock him into realizing he has to dump, at the very least, McMaster, if not Kelly too.  Cross your fingers, folks.  Trump can fix this, but he hasn’t got much time.

Well, that was pretty glass-emptying.  Actually, lots of cool stuff happened this week.  So let’s get to it.

The most fun is watching the PIAPS plunge straight off a cliff into a boiling vat of ridicule and contempt.  She’s on tour promoting her pathetic book, so bad that Amazon is deleting the vast number of one-star reviews.

Here’s one headline: Clinton Blames Comey, Russia, WikiLeaks, Facebook, Fake News, Voter ID Laws, Sexism, and Misogyny for Losing.

But that’s just getting started.  The London Daily Mail this morning (9/15) now has her Blame List up to 41 – and counting.  The only person on the planet she doesn’t blame is, of course, herself.

You’ll laugh yourself silly reading Piers Morgan (9.13): We all know what happened, Hillary: you’re a loser! Now get over it and give the rest of us a break.  For openers:

“(What Happened) is the most whiny, self-pitying, deluded load of literary claptrap written since Kim Kardashian’s ‘I was empowering women’ defense for posting naked bird-flipping selfies.”

She’s gone down the tubes for keeps – except as a reminder of the bullet America dodged on last November 8, a reminder of how grateful we all need to be that we have, for all his faults, The Donald in the Oval Office instead of this evil, crooked, stupid, rhymes-with-witch PIAPS.

Speaking of crazy witches, it turns out that the woman who dominated Washington High Society for almost 50 years – Sally Quinn as the wife of Ben Bradlee who ran the Washington Post from 1968 to 2014 – is one.  She believes in voodoo, and that her black magic hexes killed three people.

Speaking of fake women, little cutie-pies who pretend they’re women and end up betraying their country, Bradley “Chelsea” Manning, “The Left’s Favorite Traitor,” was awarded a Fellowship at Harvard University’s Kennedy School on Wednesday (9/13).

It didn’t last long.  The firestorm of protest against hiring a traitor convicted of espionage – who would still be in jail had not Zero pardoned him – proved too much for Harvard.  This morning (9/15), Dean Elmendorf withdrew the Fellowship, admitting it was “a mistake.”

Even Harvard Prog-Libs have a sense of shame.  Who knew?

Here’s a triad of the most interesting news of the week.

*On Wednesday (9/13), Fox reported: Liberals Sick of the Alt-Left Are Taking ‘the Red Pill’.

Using the scene in The Matrix movie choosing the blue pill to stay in a fake world, or the red pill to live in reality, and applying it to red state/blue state mentalities, the metaphor is being applied by more and more by people who have bailed out of leftist lunacy and become conservative.

A marvelous example is Candace Owens with her Red Pill Black YouTube channel with over 95,000 subscribers.  She’s really worth watching – and the Fox report certainly worth reading.

*Now, no one will accuse Ben Smith, the editor of the leftie BuzzFeed News, of taking the red pill, but he sure has a must-read on Tuesday: There’s Blood in the Water in Silicon Valley.

Smith notes that everyone, from Trumpers to Prog-Libs, from Steve Bannon to Bernie Sanders and Tucker Carlson to New Republic editor Franklin Foer, hates Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon and other “big tech” giants and wants to kill them.  For good reason.

*If I were to tell you that Hollywood is coming out with a big movie called Chappaquiddick, you’d grimace thinking it another Kennedy panegyric whitewashing Teddy’s murder of Mary Jo Kopechne.  And if you knew that the hyper-libs of the movie biz paper of record, Variety, gave a review of high praise, that would clinch your opinion, right?

Big surprise.  Variety on Sunday (9/10) praises Chappaquiddick as a “meticulous docudrama” focusing on Ted Kennedy’s “criminal negligence and cover-up” of his crime.  Rather than portraying Teddy as “a tragic figure,” it is “fundamentally the portrait of a weasel.”

Read the whole review, written by liberal Owen Gleiberman, Variety’s chief film critic.  It will astound you.  “The film says that what happened at Chappaquiddick was even worse than we think.”  Finally, the truth about Teddy comes out, and even liberals are praising it.

Speaking of winning.

This week, we welcomed back Dr. Joel Wade with his column The Virtue of Happiness.  So it is only appropriate that you know Joel has been for many years one of the best water polo goalies in the world.  He certainly proved that last month at the World Water Polo Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

On August 13, Joel was the goalie for the Santa Barbara Masters American team that won the Gold Medal.  Congratulations to Water Polo World Champion – and TTP’s dear friend – Joel Wade!  Here’s Joel proudly wearing the gold:

We close with this.  All of us are disgusted by the Left’s pathological compulsion to ruin everything.  Everything, including sports – epitomized by Hate America NFL players refusing to stand for the national anthem.

On Sunday (9/10) in Cleveland, the Cleveland Browns decided to put an end to this.  When the team was introduced, they ran out of the tunnel onto the field – with a number of Cleveland police officers, firefighters, and US military soldiers in uniform.  Then, all arm in arm, they stood proudly as the Star-Spangled Banner was played.

The crowd yelled, cheered, and cried.  This is what America used to be, wants to be, and can be again.  The Cleveland Browns are the HFR Heroes of the Week.
