HALF-FULL REPORT 11/13/15

Puerto Ayora, Galapagos Islands. For all of this week I’ve been in a remote place in Colombia with no internet, then flew all day to get here today – which means I really have only the vaguest notion of what’s been going on. Plus I have to attend to the TTPers traveling with me.

So all I can do is make some quick notes, rather than the usual HFR, for which I apologize and will make it up next week. (Update: Joe Katzman has just come to the HFR’s rescue with a plethora of insights about this week, which are appended at the end of my notes. Thanks, Joe!)

Regarding the Pub debate Tuesday night (11/10). I couldn’t watch it – no tv – but from what I heard, those with something to substantive to say did well: Cruz, Fiorina, Paul, and Rubio, although Marco bombed on his dumb remark about philosophers. Kasich was a jerk as usual, and far more liberal than any conservative can tolerate.

That Trump mumbled and bumbled his way to saying nothing of substance wouldn’t surprise you, as the HFR has long noticed this trait of his – he’s a PR guy, a P.T. Barnum entertainer. What was surprising is Carson didn’t have much to say either.

It’s hard to imagine Kasich lasting much longer, the quicker he’s no longer there on the debate stage the better. It would be great if that were Jeb Bush’s fate as well, but unlikely – even though his being endorsed by Bob Dole should be a kiss of death. Unfortunately, Trump won’t collapse fast enough to be out by the next debate – which will be hosted by CNN with all its hyper-lib bias.

Then again, after 72 Hours of Crazy with Trump, including Trump comparing Ben Carson to a child molester, it’s getting obvious we’re dealing not with a harmless eccentric publicity-mad billionaire, but with someone mentally unhinged. There’s no longer any justification for being a Trump supporter now.

The talk is that Cruz and Rubio are now or soon will be the top two finalists – with Carly so sharp and incisive that she’s right behind. The HFR of course is rooting for Cruz-Carly.

The media is evidently in a frenzy this week about some supposedly massive college student protest demanding free education as a “right,” wiping out their student loans, freaking out about microagressions, and of course bleating about being victims of racism and a white patriarchal rape culture.

What a wonderful opportunity for Pub presidential candidates to tell them all to just STFU, to shove their victimy bleatings and microagressions up their noses, and stop being gimme-gimme beggars. Oh, and to advocate the voting age be raised to 25. Far too many college kids are sniveling pussy crybabies. Adults need to tell them to grow up.

The suicidal insanity in Europe continues, as countries like Sweden and even Germany start to control their borders after letting hundreds of thousands of Moslem wolves inside. EU leaders at a summit with African leaders in Malta offer $2 billion to take back the African hordes that snuck across the Med to live off EU welfare states, which was angrily rejected by the African leaders – “You let them in, you get to keep them!”

The African leaders of course want more bribe money, $2bil isn’t enough. Same with Erdogan’s Turkey – he wants way over $3 billion to stop flooding Europe with “migrants” from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Obviously, the solution to Europe’s “migrant crisis” from Africa and the Middle East is to eliminate any form of government welfare to non-citizens. They won’t stay for long. The only governments with the guts to do this are those of Eastern Europe, Poland in particular, and Denmark. Big surprise – they have no migrant crisis in their countries.

To back that up, there was an enormous anti-migrant rally in Warsaw, Poland on Wednesday, tens of thousands demonstrating against the EU and its migrant policies, even burning the EU flag. Gotta love the Poles.

Meanwhile, France is being taught another horrific lesson of the idiocy of millions of Moslems in their midst – with dozens killed and over 100 hostages taken in a series of Moslem terrorist attacks today. It’s high time for the French to start being Polish.

Best news of the week is the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that Zero’s executive orders protecting 5 million illegals from deportation are unconstitutional. 26 states are suing Zero on this, and this is a huge victory not just against Zero’s plot to get millions of illegal alien votes for Dems in 2016, but for state 10th amendment rights over the federalies in general.

To top that off, the Fifth Circuit also threw out the attempt of Zero Justice to destroy a school choice voucher program in Louisiana. The Fifth Circuit is clearly the HFR Hero of the Week.

Those are my notes. Here’s Joe:

Germany: Berlin police raided 10 buildings using 60 police officers, trying to suppress criticism of the German government’s ethnic displacement policy. Panicky, much? The Germans also want social media networks to act as advance censors, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has strongly implied that this is already happening.

Germans, for their part, have coined the term Lugenpresse (Lying Press). Just missed Lugenschwein (Lying Swine) – sorry, Jack Kelly, no royalties!

The thing that crosses my mind is that if social media is swept clean, it forces people toward email and face-to-face modes. Which would slow message propagation, but might boost physical organizing. Considering what’s beginning to happen already re: violence and its potential, this may be a case of “careful what you wish for.”

This was interesting. In September, German scientist Gangolf Jobb announced that researchers in 8 European countries, including Germany and the United Kingdom, were no longer allowed to use Treefinder, which builds phylogenetic trees from DNA sequence data for evolutionary biologists.

It’s usually the other way around with software, but note his field. More and more, human genetics = crimethink. Even as the field itself grows in practical significance. Hmm.

Poland: November 11th is Remembrance Day/ Veterans Day/ Armisitice Day, and also the day Poland celebrates its post WW2 independence. A Warsaw rally of 25,000 – 50,000+ people carried signs like “Poland for Poles, Poles for Poland”; “Stop Islamization”; and: “God, honour, homeland,” chanted the protesters as they marched under a sea of red-and-white Polish flags.

Europe will either become The Nations of Christendom once again, or it will repeat its recent history, or it will die as Islamic Eurabia. It has become crystal clear that the Leftist Option is a catastrophic treason, and the time for choosing is now upon them. Poland is choosing its side. Other peoples must struggle with their own decisions.

Meanwhile, I am praying that Cardinal Sarah grows further in stature, and becomes the next Pope. If Europe is to have any hope of pulling through as a continent rather than an isolated Eastern rump, the Catholic Church will be the fulcrum.

Africa was under-represented at the latest synod due to papal appointments, but still formed the core of a bloc that stopped major changes to doctrine. If we change that appointment pattern via a faithful intellectual African as Pope, who has experience with Marxist persecution and with Islam… traditional Catholics would switch from trying to play theological defense, to a demographically-accelerating institutional cultural offensive.

Fundamentally Transformed!

But it is too late for Europe’s Jews. By the time Europe’s future is resolved, I expect it to be judenrein. I hope Europe’s Jewish refugees come to fully understand the lessons being taught there before they flee to the Jewish homeland. Or to America, if that’s the only option left. Because they will not be able to leave the problems behind. Not those of their enemies’ making. Nor those of their own.

Book Recommendations

Christmas is approaching. Ditto Hannukah. And Kwanzaa – for which we remember Jack’s friend Dennis Turner.

For those of you interested in all things military, the new 4th Generational Warfare Handbook provides an excellent backdrop for current events in Europe and the Middle East.

You might also want to read up on Irish events from 1915 – 1921, and especially the efforts of the IRA’s exceptionally capable intelligence chief Michael Collins. Times and places change, but humans don’t, so look this stuff up on Amazon on in your library.

Harry S. Truman was right. The only thing new in the world is the history you don’t know.

Finally, you’re about to see why “SJWs Always Lie” is my next book recommendation. Followed by California’s 1916 Sixth-Grade Reader as a gift option for the younger set.

Academia Lost

David “Iowahawk” Burge says that if he understands college administrators correctly, colleges are hotbeds of racism and rape that everyone should be able to attend.

Fox Sports asks, correctly, “Is the Entire Mizzou Protest Based on Lies?” Sure looks like it. Repeat after me: “Social Justice Warriors Always Lie.” (Rule #2: SJWs always double down, vid. their increasingly outrageous lies about the KKK on campus, etc. Also Rule #3: SJWs always project. What they complain about is what they want to do to you. Sucks to be you if you’re white.)

Note #1 – and pass this one on to friends and relatives. Here is the playbook for how you respond to a Leftist mob attack at work.

Senior individuals at Mizzou and elsewhere made the critical mistake of apologizing, and had their reputations destroyed as they resigned. NEVER do that. Never let friends or relatives do that.

Underneath it all are 3 key angles.

The connection with the black experience is best explained by black Fox News columnist Jason Whitlock, who drops a tactical nuke on the whole Mizzou affair. My lord, that was beautiful.

The 2nd obvious angle is the growth of Maoist Red Guard fascism, and complete denial of any intellectual mission for colleges. Mao’s fanatic Red Guards began in colleges and escalated into a lethal, anti-intellectual “holiness spiral” (note this core social mechanism) that murdered tens of millions in The Cultural Revolution.

Now, a Millennial generation raised to fascism in America’s 20-year long Milgram Experiment of a school system reacts as trained:

“[Yale] is not about creating an intellectual space! It is not! Do you understand that? It’s about creating a home here! You are not doing that.”

What to do? Fight. Don’t be a groveling sap trying to save the academy as a base for your enemies. De-legitimize it as a swindle of lies that teaches little at high cost, favors the oligarchy, and requires supervision. Then cripple its structural foundations, and encourage alternatives. So, how?

On a broader level, The American Interest offers a typically weak response that may still be useful: a system of national exams, sponsored by employers, that would allow students from less prestigious schools to demonstrate that they had learned as much as Ivy grads. By widening the (currently narrow) hiring pool for top jobs, it would put a serious dent in the Ivy Madrassas’ future wealth and power. For equality!

Glenn “Instapundit” Reynolds, in contrast, understands that the proper response to Mao’s Red Guards is war. End tax-deductibility of contributions to any school with over $1 billion in endowments. Force qualifying schools to spend at least 10% of their endowment per year on student aid, so taxpayer’s don’t. Eliminate documented discrimination against Asians by forcing universities to admit strictly on objective criteria such as grades and SAT/ACT scores, with random drawings used afterward if necessary.

Schools that don’t want to do these things don’t get any government subsidies – currently about $54,000 per student at Princeton – or government student loan backing.

That’s how you do it. Heck, accept both proposals. Then add specific Students’ Bills of Rights, religion as a protected discrimination category in college admissions and employment, reduced per-student payments from governments for programs with annual tuition costs over $10,000, accreditation of online competitors, and more. Do it via state legislatures.

Once the hammer starts to comes down, support and praise for reasonable people like the Heterodox Academy project (some nice names in there) will have much more influence. Your enemies won’t move without a threat. Make it clear, and real, and happening. Then you point to credible moderates who can induce enemy organizations to make further structural concessions, as the path to peace. If you haven’t learned this from having it done to you for 40+ years… may I suggest learning it now.

A serious, coordinated assault on the current college model needs to begin – one matching the current serious, coordinated structural assault by the Marxist Left via Title IX, etc. The Left is opening the window for us. A backlash is building. Contact your GOP state representatives about this, and make this a priority for local conservative political organizations. Start separating state-level fighters from corruptocrats.

It’s just like foreign policy, people – make it dangerous for people to be your enemy, or you’ll have tons of enemies and no friends.

[Note from JW: Real war would be the total complete elimination of the Department of Education, ending all federal funding of any kind to universities, most especially student loans. Ted Cruz has promised to do this if elected president.]

Employment Lost?

The 3rd, silent angle to the college kerfuffles is a growing failure of belief that college is a worthwhile investment. Even as automation continues to eat jobs in the 80-120 IQ range – and promises to climb higher up the scale. Nobody really knows what to do about this.

The Wall Street Journal ran “Where the New Jobs Will Come From”, which gave the standard line about new jobs in new fields. Jerry Pournelle responds:

“I don’t see that happening; even with 20 hour weeks and other artificial ways to get more people working. I may be an elitist, but I don’t think that 60% of the population can DO those jobs – and I am very sure that the current education system cannot teach most of the population to do them…. If you want to know what public schools are capable of, look at The California Sixth Grade Reader which was copyrighted in 1916 and used in California public schools; compare it to the reading books now used in tenth grade. And weep.”

This. So much this. Great (e)book, by the way. If you have relatives younger than 15, the Reader is worth strong consideration as a cheap, quietly subversive educational gift.

On a personal level, Doug Casey has a worthwhile thought for college-age kids. It worked for Jack’s son Brandon. Or, consider something like a Thiel Fellowship, if you can get one.

Locally, just a few thousand dollars from the Rotary Club and local Chamber of Commerce might create something similar to the Thiel Fellowships on a smaller scale. You might even strong-arm local governments into kicking in, to ‘promote local entrepreneurship and avoid a brain drain.’

Then make sure conservatives judge the proposals. That’s how you build infrastructure that changes incentives, and creates future supporters for more changes.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life…

The Happiness Hall of Fame boasts among its inductees Deepak Chopra, Muhammad Ali, and a pantheon of authors, sports stars and inventors. Plus one rabbi: Zelig Pliskin of Aish HaTorah, an Orthodox Jewish outreach organization. He took his first step watching some guy named Johnny Unitas.

This Aish Ha’Torah article offers some links and other resources, and members who pay attention to Joel Wade’s articles (as you should) may detect some familiar themes. I’ll leave you with this video:
