HALF-FULL REPORT 07/24/15

It saddens me that I need to begin this HFR with bad news. Jack Kelly, beloved by TTPers for his column and my dear friend of over 30 years, has been diagnosed with incurable bone marrow cancer.

I’m making this public because I am asking you to pray for him. There is power in prayer and he needs to know he’ll have that with us.

As for me, I’m an incurable optimist. The median survival time after diagnosis of bone marrow cancer is five years. To me, this means that given the rate at which medical research is learning how to cure or slow down various cancers, his form of cancer won’t be so “incurable” four or five years from now.

But right now, Jack and his wife Pam need our prayers. Let’s let him know that he has them.

I’m writing this from the town of Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands north of Scotland. There’s over 5,000 years of history here, starting with the Neolithic village of Skara Brae dated to 3180 BC.

The exhibit explains how Stone Age people were able to live here 5200 years ago:

It was a “land of plenty” with “rich fertile soil” for grazing cattle and growing crops because it was “warmer than it is now.”

Global warming creates a land of plenty. It is so perfectly typical for the Left to create hysterical fear of something beneficial.

That Pope Francis as a man of the Left is attempting to do this as official Vatican policy is a principal reason why – in a Gallup Poll released Wednesday (7/22) – his popularity has plummeted in America, particularly among conservatives.

We also learned this week (7/20) that dissent on the Pope’s Marxist Environmentalism is breaking out within the Vatican’s top hierarchy. Cardinal George Pell has publicly challenged the Pope’s authority to advocate Warmism:

“The church has no particular expertise in science. The church has got no mandate from the Lord to pronounce on scientific matters. We believe in the autonomy of science.”

The Cardinal is of course correct: papal infallibility only applies ecclesiastically and to nothing secular. Further, Pell is now the most powerful Cardinal of all, as last year Francis placed him in full control of the entire financial structure of the Vatican.

He’s a total no-nonsense guy, “a linebacker in a cassock” as he was a big star player in Australian Rules Football, a very tough sport. He’ll tackle Francis’ muddled thinking straight on and won’t back down.

Now we turn to the Trump-McCain fracas. Trump makes one of patented publicity-seeking outrages about John McCain, and the Libtard Media and the GOP elite go into a tizzy. On Sunday (7/19), Trump issued an op-ed defense. In sum, he argues that, so what if he was a “war hero” over 40 years ago, he’s a political coward today, refusing to support veterans against the criminally corrupt VA and supporting total amnesty for illegals.

On this, Trump is right. He could also have noted that, personally, McCain is such a horse’s ass he’s afflicted with a neurosis we could call jerkomania – the obsessive compulsion to be a jerk.   Google “john mccain” + “jerk” and you’ll get 236,000 hits.

Worse, though, is how McCain is a corrupt jerk. To understand this and Washington staffer-to-lobbyist corruption, you need to read my Abramoff’s October Surprise for McCain (August 2008). McCain destroyed Abramoff with pathological vindictiveness because Jack took business away from his former staffers.

While I wasn’t at FreedomFest earlier this month, Rebel was and she heard Trump speak. Her warning to all of us who want a Walker or Cruz, an actual conservative for the Pub nominee:

“He’s amazingly charismatic, knows just what his audience wants to hear and says it articulately and with passion – and he’s funny, really funny. He’s really smart, he’s got 10 billion dollars, and is an absolute master at getting media attention. Watch out.”

Trump is no conservative by far – he’s a “liberal’s liberal” as the WaPo describes. Many Pub pundits thought Trump’s campaign was toast after his no-war-hero comment on McCain. Surprise – Trump has gained in the polls after denouncing McCain. Watch out, indeed.

Sure some interesting headlines this week.

Hillary Comes Closer to Criminal Investigation. Let’s hope so, the PIAPS no doubt belongs in jail. But what’s really going on here? The HFR is happy to tell you. The criminal investigation would be conducted by Zero’s DOJ, the same DOJ that’s refused to investigate any criminality within the Zero Administration or liberal organization (Planned Parenthood, anyone?).

QED: Zero DOJ launching an investigation of Hillary is for the purpose of getting her out of Joe Biden’s way for the Dem nomination.

5,000 Naked Anti-Homosexual Protestors to Greet Obama in Kenya. You just can’t make a headline like that up. It’s a headline – and a protest – that Zero certainly deserves. Such a shame Americans don’t have the guts to do it themselves.

Obamacare: One-Third Fewer Doctors and Huge Premium Hikes. That’s what you get when you want something for nothing. As P.J. O’Rourke said, “If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it’s free.”

And the Best Headline of the Week: Rubio to Trump: We Already Have a President With No Class. Thanks, Marco, we needed that.

Along with the PIAPS, there’s another politician who deserves a prison cell – this one for Treason.

Exhibit A: Obama shielding 80 percent of nation’s illegals from deportation. Excerpt:

“As part of his November amnesty Mr. Obama announced a program to proactively grant a temporary deportation amnesty to as many as 5 million illegal immigrants. But he also directed immigration agents not to bother deporting millions of others, even though they weren’t eligible for the official amnesty, which grants work permits and other benefits.”

Millions of illegal votes for Dems in 2016. It’s the death knell for American democracy, and is treason.

Exhibit B: Our Rulers in the United Nations Now Make America’s Treaties. And who turned over our sovereignty, with lies, deceit, and total unconstitutionality? This is treason, and some Pub candidate needs to accuse Zero of it.

Now for the HFR Hero of the Week. It’s by popular TTPer acclaim with which the HFR certainly agrees. The fact that she’s an exceedingly attractive young blonde has nothing to do with it. That just gets your initial attention. What counts is passionate patriotism for America and her courage for denouncing Zero’s lack of it.

Her name is Tomi Lahren. She’s just 22 years old, yet has a news commentary show on OAN – One America News Network.   On Saturday (7/18), she unloaded on Zero regarding his refusal to protect us against Radical Islam. By today, just six days later, her 2½ minute clip posted on YouTube has gotten 4 million hits. Watch it and you’ll see why:

I’ll close with a couple of Orkney photos. When I went to Skara Brae, it was cold and rainy. This was the villagers’ workshop area:

And this, one of their homes, complete with shelves, cupboards, and beds. This was 5,000 years ago. Then it would have been covered with a roof made with driftwood and hides.

By the time I got to the Ring of Brodgar, a World Heritage Site erected by the same Neolithic people as at Skara Brae 2,000 years before Stonehenge (4500 BC vs. 2500 BC), I got some sunshine:

It turned out to be a day the ancient people here would have appreciated – but still thought was way too chilly. The Orcadians (what people who live here call themselves) I talked to all say the summer weather for the past few years has been “unseasonably” cold and rainy.

Orcadians want it to get warmer like it was when Skara Brae was flourishing. What we need in 2016 is a new president who agrees with them.
