HALF-FULL REPORT 05/09/14

We start with this Urgent Announcement from Carol Bundy, wife of Nevada’s Patriot Rancher Cliven Bundy

Please make your way to Blanding Utah this Saturday May 10th 9AM to protest the BLM Closure of Recapture Canyon.

Blanding has been the site of many BLM overreach efforts, including the horrific BLM SWAT team raids that resulted in the deaths of three Blanding residents.

County Commissioner Phil Lyman has organized a peaceful ATV ride into "Recapture Canyon".  This Canyon was "temporarily" closed over 7 years ago by the BLM.  You do not need an ATV to participate.

We need to help the people of Blanding re-establish who is in control of the land.  This is your next stand.  Will you be there to help them like you helped us?  Please make the trip to Blanding, we need to keep sending the message loud and clear wherever the BLM is illegally asserting its power.  Thank you, Carol

A message with direction and map from San Juan County Commissioner Lyman is appended[1] at the end of this HFR.  Blanding is in the Four Corners region where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona meet.  For any TTPers anywhere near – Taos, Phoenix, even Denver – try to be there.

The BLM – Bureau of Land Management – unconstitutionally controls over 270 million acres or 422,000 square miles of "public" lands.  That’s an area as large as Texas and California combined, or twice the size of France.  It has morphed into a Fascist Police State agency of militarily-armed Gestapo goons.

The people of Blanding and all San Juan County are so totally fed up with federalie BLM fascism that San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge personally went to the Bundy ranch in Mesquite, Nevada, to ask for their support.  Thus this plea from Carol Bundy.

This is incredibly short notice, yes – but try to be there if at all possible.

************

We’ll have a first-hand report on what’s going on at the Bundy Ranch next week, but meanwhile, a must-read in this regard is Victor Davis Hansen’s magnificent Cliven Bundy and the Rural Way.

************

The #1 best-seller on Amazon is a desperate attempt to revive the Marxist economics of thievery written by a French fascist:  Capital in the 21st Century by Thomas Piketty.

It’s your typical Euroweenie/Harvard Faculty screed against "the rich" backed up by a blizzard of data that Forbes Magazine debunks as Fifty Shades of Inequality.  Today at the Vatican (5/09), Pope Francis chimed in with an Oxymoron of the Ages, demanding a "legitimate redistribution of wealth."

There can be nothing "legitimate" or moral about stealing what doesn’t belong to you.  Piketty and the Pope might as well say, "I believe in honest theft."  Just exactly how is this "redistribution" performed except at the point of a government gun?

Most average folks recognize this, so besides nostalgic lefties who get their jollies reading New York Times editorials, no one really buys in to Marxism anymore.

Zero may quote Piketty in an attempt to provide faux gravitas to his "inequality" blather, but this week we saw him placing his demagogic bet on Green being the New Red:  using Warmism as the Left’s rationale for fascism.

On Tuesday (5/06), the Zero White House released a monumental compendium of pseudo-science called The National Climate Assessment.  Along with it came a list of Executive Actions that Zero plans to "reduce carbon pollution" and further expand government control over every American business and every American life.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts simply blew up at the lunacy of it all.  When White House climate flunkie John Podesta gave a decline in the California snowpack from last year to this as proof of Warmism, Watts provided a brilliant explanation of how "maddeningly idiotic" the White House claims are.

Yesterday (5/08) on Watts’ site, climatologist Paul Knappenberger took Zero’s Climate Assessment apart, showing just how it "confuses climate with climate change."  Or as Mike Ramirez explains:

November can’t come soon enough – or rather the 115th Congress next January, with Crazy Harry Reid no longer running the Senate and the defunding of Zero’s lawlessness on Warmism and so much else can begin.

************

"Crazy Harry" is actually what a lot of people in Washington are calling Reid these days – and they are worried and serious, not joking.  On Wednesday (5/07) on the Senate floor he confirmed in 30 seconds what they fear – that he is delusional and slipping into senile dementia:

Pollution is the cause of climate change, the Koch brothers are "the two richest people in the world," and they are "the main cause" of global warming.  If Crazy Harry thinks he can distract voters away from the plethora of scandals devouring the Dems by Alinsky-izing Charles and David Koch, his efforts have failed.  The more this dawns on him, the more demented he becomes.

He really is going clinically crazy.  Goodnight, Harry.

************

How refreshing to contrast the smarmiest senator – that would be Reid – with the smartest – that would be Ted Cruz.

On Wednesday, his office released a report, The Obama Administration’s Abuse of Power, citing 76 specific instances of lawlessness by Zero.

"Of all the troubling aspects of the Obama presidency, none is more dangerous than its pattern of lawlessness," says Cruz.  "If these same acts had been committed by Richard Nixon, every day the headlines in newspapers would be banner headlines."

Try to read the entire Cruz report – or if you can’t, here’s a summary provided by the London Daily Mail.  Once again – Ted Cruz is the HFR Hero of the Week.

************

Speaking of Texas – Cruz’s state as you know – how about this for the Coolest Headline of the Week:

Texas Is Permanently Shutting Abortion Clinics and the Supreme Court Can’t Do Anything About It.

Stand up and cheer.

Speaking of lawlessness – on Wednesday (5/07), while Crazy Harry was mouth-foaming in the Senate, the House voted 231-187 to hold Lois Lerner of the IRS in Contempt of Congress.

Strangely enough, after stonewalling for months, the IRS suddenly agreed less than 24 hours later to hand over all of Lerner’s emails.  What a coincidence!

The House also voted to demand that Holder Justice appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate Lerner and the IRS’ persecution of conservative groups.  Of course, you may think it’s a fairy pipedream to think that the most dishonest Attorney General in US history would do such a thing.

But constitutional lawyer Ken Klukowski argues that Speaker John Boehner already has the authority to order the House Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest and incarcerate Lois Lerner.  Ken cites the Supreme Court decision giving him the right to issue a warrant for the arrest of someone in contempt of Congress.

You may recall, however, that in June of 2012, the House voted to hold Eric Holder himself in contempt of Congress regarding the Fast and Furious scandal – and that Holder ignored it completely, refusing to cooperate in any way, and Boehner did… nothing.

Yet that was then.  Now, if Holder refuses to appoint a prosecutor regarding Lerner – and a true independent, not a toady, the talk on the Hill is that the House Pubs (with either Boehner’s acquiescence or actual support) will initiate impeachment proceedings against him.

We will see.  For something else happened in the Boehner House this week that portends it might.

************

That would be Boehner, on Monday (5/05) appointing Trey Gowdy (R-SC) to chair the Benghazi Investigative Committee.

The Dems are freaking out, and the Enemedia in a frenzy to discredit him, because Gowdy is the real deal.  He’s a junk yard dog prosecutor who knows what he’s doing, and will neither be bullied nor put up with Dem shenanigans.

Gowdy will be relentless, and when he’s done, Hillary’s political hide will nailed to his prosecutorial wall.  Good for Boehner.  Watch this takedown of the media by Gowdy on Benghazi.  Wow.

What of interest happened elsewhere in the world this week?

One item is the leaking on Monday (5/05) of China’s Plans for the Collapse of North Korea.  The leak was with official Chicom approval.  Evidently it’s a shot across Kim Jong-un’s bow, telling him to STFU and stop threatening war with the ROKs.  There’s also a not-too-subtle or-else.  If the Young Un doesn’t start being a good little boy, well… accidents happen.

Chinese accidents happened on purpose this week in the South China Sea, with the Chicom oilco CNOOC moving a billion-dollar offshore oil rig into Vietnamese waters, with Chinese warships attacking and ramming Vietnamese Coast Guard ships in the process.

On the day before, Tuesday (5/06), the Philippine navy seized a Chinese fishing boat with 324 dead and dying sea turtles at Half Moon Shoal just 60 miles off the coast of Palawan Island – clearly in Philippine waters, yet as you know, the Chicoms claim the entire South China Sea as their territorial waters.

How the Chicoms have the gall to claim they have "undisputable sovereignty" over Half Moon Shoal is beyond reason – as you can see:

spratlys_half_moon_shoal.png

Note, in the insert, just how far away China is.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious that the Chicoms want a war in the South China Sea.  The only folks capable of giving them a fight are the Vietnamese.  Funny how history turns out – for we’ll be on Hanoi’s side this time, hoping the Chicoms will get a good bloody nose.

In a press conference in Brussels yesterday (5/08),  European Central Bank president Mario Draghi revealed that capital flight out of Russia is 4½ times larger than Kremlin claims.  Outflows are some "160 billion euro out of Russia," or 224 billion dollars.  The Russian finance ministry claims it’s only $51 billion.

Russia – and Putin – are in far greater financial trouble than a lot of Russophiles think.  In fact, the folks at Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post believe that: Putin’s Adventurism in Ukraine Will End in Disaster for Russia.

A disaster economically and financially, as we can already see.  A disaster geopolitically, as Europe and the US now support the government in Kiev as never before, while NATO is moving troops, weapons, and training into all Eastern Europe.  And a disaster diplomatically, as Putin thinking China will back his play is a fantasy.

Expect Russia to be in economic crisis by the end of the year.  Perhaps even politically.

************

Lastly internationally, there’s Thailand.  It’s breaking apart.

On Wednesday (5/07), Thailand’s Constitutional Court, with all the judges bought off, removed Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from office on the incredibly flimsy grounds that she illegally transferred a bureaucrat from one post to another.  Today, 10,000 protestors were on the streets of Bangkok demanding the complete removal of her government.

The protestors are in the pay of Bangkok’s corrupt royal and military elite in collusion with the crony capitalists whose bribes and monopolies ensure their fortunes.  Shinawatra is an outsider from the countryside, where people love her and vote for her.

The odds are she’ll leave the capital for Chiang Mai in the north, where she’ll set up a competing government.  The country may well break in two.  Let’s hear from our Chiang Mai TTPer on this.  We’re listening, Brian.

************

Let’s close with what is clearly the scandal of the week back here in the USA.

It’s not that the NFL doesn’t want to draft homosexual football player Michael Sam.  "He’s not really good athlete," they say.  Oh, no, it’s a scandal much worse than that.

It’s that the pansy owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, didn’t pick Johnny Manziel – Johnny Football from Texas A&M– when he had the chance.  Guess Jones wants to keep losing with Tony Romo.  Did I mention Manziel is born, raised, and played college ball in Texas?

So Johnny Football is going Cleveland?? Good luck, Johnny.  I’ll be rooting for you.  And I’ll be rooting for Dallas to lose all next fall.

[1] . Message from Commissioner Lyman:  I apologize that the protest on May 10th is not perfectly defined. That is kind of the nature of a protest. The main thing is the 9:00 AM assembly at Centennial Park In Blanding Utah on May 10th. The Park is at 900 South 300 West.

At that meeting we will have information on the many trails on which people may ride legally. Also remember the tailgate social Friday night starting at 6:30 pm, also at Centennial Park. For my part, I plan (as of this writing) to come into Recapture from the North end. About two miles down the road you come to the BLM closure sign.

The road continues on from there in the closed area about a mile or 1.5 miles until you come to where the water pipeline leaves the canyon. At that point the trail starts to wind through thick willows. I expect to turn around at that point and drive back to the closure sign and head out of the Canyon on a trail going West.

That trail, which is legal and open, goes up on top of the Canyon. It is pretty steep, but if you have a 4 wheel drive machine or a horse, you should be fine.

Side-by-Sides are no problem on this open road. Once on top, there are many legal trails that head south. You can come back into town or keep going south until you get to a major gravel road known as Perkins Road.

This road marks the South Boundary of the closed area. When you get to that point you can head south down the creek bed and you will be on the historic trail which leads all the way the the San Juan River. About 10 miles down this trail you will come to the old Stone Ruins of the Shumway Homestead.

A few miles further and you will be on on Hwy 262. There are a lot of options for you to be 100% part of this very needed protest without riding on any closed trails. Thank you all for your strong support of local jurisdiction over local interests. I hope to see you on Saturday."
