HALF-FULL REPORT 03/14/14

Important Announcement:  the last section of this HFR is devoted to addressing concerns regarding the New TTP Forum.

The theme for the week is Birds of a Hubristic Feather.  The shades of Sophocles and Aeschylus are looking up at us from the depths of Hades in sad wonder that humans in power never learn the lesson the Greeks knew so well two and a half millennia ago.

Thus we get such marvelously good news this week as Pelosi Galore announcing that Dems Won’t Run from Obamacare in Midterms. You’re just not going to get a better example of masochistic hubris than that. 

Jolly Sinks Sink is the political headline of the week in a scenario straight out of Hollywood – an underfunded underdog unknown pro- health-freedom anti-amnesty good guy named Jolly comes from behind to defeat a massively funded famous favorite pro-health-fascism pro-amnesty demagogue named Sink. 

The race for FL-13, "the swingiest district in the swingiest state," was a "must win" acknowledged by all Dems for them to have any chance of retaking the House in November.  Alex Sink is the Chief Financial Officer for the State of Florida.  As the Dem candidate for governor, she barely lost to Pub Rick Scott (thus now current governor) in 2010.  The DNC poured money into her race.

David Jolly is a neophyte nobody who had no idea how to run a political campaign – it was so shambolic that the RNC gave up supporting him.  Boehner refused to send him any money because Jolly is against amnesty.  Even with outside support from groups like Americans for Prosperity, Sink outspent Jolly by over $1 million.

What sank Sink was that she is all-in for Obamacare and Jolly is for repeal.  Yet that’s not all.  She was so pro-amnesty she actually said at a campaign event that without amnesty, "Where are you going to get people to work to clean our hotel rooms or do our landscaping?"

But wait, there’s more!  The Warmist kooks at the Sierra Club spent $350,000 on tv ads denouncing Jolly as a "climate change denier."  The local enemedia rag, the Tampa Bay Times, vitriolically condemned him as well.  Jolly shrugged his shoulders.

Bottom line:  Sink the Dem lost because she’s for Obamacare, Amnesty, and Warmism.  The Jolly Pub won because he’s against all three.  What a hat trick.

And Bela Pelosi thinks she’ll be Speaker again by Dems’ doubling down on Zerocare?  That’s hubris on steroids.

Which of course is the path to electoral disaster in November.  We all know how capable the GOP Ruling Elite is to snatch defeat from victory, and how the Dems’ Marxist ends-justify-the-means morality justifies massive voter fraud.  Yet even Chrissie Tingling Leg Matthews is saying (3/13) that in the wake of FL-13, the Dems "are going to lose the Senate."

(Here’s Hugh Hewitt’s rundown on his 14 Pub Senate pickups.  Note #13, Oregon.  Pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Monica Wehby’s campaign slogan is:  "Keep your doctor. Change your senator.")

Matthews is a fascist demagogue, so naturally his solution is for Dems to scaremonger voters re Social Security, Medicare, and abortion "rights."  The real solution is obvious – for Zero to eat humble pie and admit that Obamacare is an unconscionable disaster, that it was a noble effort with noble intentions but he’s junking it in the face of reality and going back to the drawing board.

Pelosi and Reid would instantly get on board, and the whole Enemedia and Moonbat Blogosphere would demand he be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his courage and honesty and decency and humility and heroic saintliness.

We can be supremely confident this will never happen – because Zero is a solipsistic narcissist who lives in Hubris City.  In addition, he’s ignorant, uneducated, and actually pretty stupid – all his affirmative action Ivy League degrees notwithstanding.  He’s glib and shrewd and smooth – but not smart. 

Just ask what an actually smart politician would do – like Bill Clinton.  He’s a moral cesspool, but he’d have the smarts to drop this "Affordable Health Care" clusterfoulup like a radioactive potato.  Zero won’t.  He’ll double down, driving his party straight off an electoral cliff in November.

Is there anyone on the planet more hubristic than Zero?  Why, yes – that would be Vladimir Vladimirovich Pooty-Poot Putin.  Oh, look!  He’s riding a horse without a shirt! Oh!  He’s so big and tough and strong!  Oh, what a pile of horse manure.  I’m not a big guy – 5’11" and 175 – and beating him in arm wrestling was easy. 

Bankrupting him, his oligarch buddies, and his government should be just as easy.  As you can see from Ambrose’s Is Putin In A Fantasy World? today, Germany’s Merkel is serious.  Russia’s economy is a 90-pound weakling, Germany is an economic Charles Atlas.  If she threatens that Germany, combined with the entire EU and the US, "will cause massive damage to Russia, both economically and politically"  — that’s a direct quote – you can take it to the bank.

Finally, finally, finally, Mr. Russian Bare-Chested Bear has overreached.  When Merkel says the "assets of individuals" will be frozen, she means the guys Putin uses to stash his billions in Western banks.  This KGB thug has bet his whole wad holding a pair of deuces.  Evidently his contempt for Euroweenies and our Pussy President has convinced him he can bluff his way into their folding before they see his hand.

The irony is it’s Zero’s hubris that could do Putin in.  A poll was released on Tuesday (3/11) showing that a majority of Americans think Putin is a stronger leader than Zero, that Zero is a weak sister.  When the whole world is laughing at you for being a candy-ass, it’s a real incentive to prove you’re not.

Every word I hear is that the State Department is pressing for putting Putin in a vise.  All it will take is a tightening of the screws, and not by a lot as Russia’s economy is built on sand.

There is no way on earth that Putin has or could get the money to afford a real Cold War II.  Besides, his army is ridiculous.  Most of his ethnic Russian soldiers are poorly trained and drunk.  An astonishing number of soldiers in the Russian Army now are Moslems of various ethnicities from the North Caucasus and Middle Volga. 

How easy would it be for the Three Bad Words to recruit saboteurs among them?   You have no idea how they are mistreated in the Russian military, beat up and constantly being called chernozhopyi – "black asses."

Putin has another weakness he doesn’t even understand.  He hasn’t got Marxism as an ideological rationale for Russian imperialism anymore, just naked thuggishness – so he has no ideological allies like the Soviets had in the Western Left.  All he has now are Blame America First Libertarians like Ron Paul, who always take the side of America’s enemies no matter who.  (Give me a counter-example where Paul took America’s side if you disagree.)

Zero doesn’t have to come remotely close to Ronald Reagan’s resolve to do the Soviets in.  He just has to join Merkel in screwing Putin a bit.  Watch.  If he does, Putin will fold like a cheap suit.

Another blessing of Putin’s hubris is a real two-fer.  It accelerates Russia’s demise by spurring Europe to overcome its dependency on Russian oil and gas, particularly by allowing fracking.  Putin has bribed so many officials – such as former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder – and journalists to be anti-fracking that the game-changing technology has been blocked almost everywhere in Europe.

That will now end – and to the EnviroLeft’s detriment.  And once the fracking cat is out of the bag with hordes of people making money with good jobs and saving money with cheaper energy prices, no one will pay attention any more to anti-fracking maniacs in Europe just like in the US.

Here’s an example.  The UK Independent is even more leftie that the London Guardian – yet on Tuesday (3/11), it praised Sarah Palin for being right to say "Drill, baby, drill."  All of a sudden, even the British Left is praising fracking for enabling the US to be "a bigger oil producer than Saudi Arabia."

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Lurch has gone Full Lunatic declaring this week that Warmism – "Climate Change" – would be his #1 diplomatic priority now.  Not the slaughter in Syria, not nukes in the hands of crazy mullahs in Iran, not Ukraine and Putin, not any actual danger or world problem, but a religious lunacy. 

To back Kerry up, Harry Reid and 29 other religious kooks among Democrats in the Senate held a bizarre all-night talkathon in the Senate Chamber Monday (3/10) night – 15 hours of non-stop blather about Warmism – that no one in the country save for other kooks paid the slightest attention to.  It was truly weird.

What’s even weirder is that the fascists of Warmism are getting so unhinged they are now calling for any scientist who is a "climate denier" to be imprisoned for "criminal negligence" – and yet they have the temerity to make fun of Creationists as "anti-science."  That’s chutzpah.

So, in sum, this week we saw how Dem chutzpah and hubris are driving them towards disaster in November.  Next week we’ll see if that of Potemkin Putin has his bluff called and if so, how soon he’ll do an El Foldo.

Right now, to close, let’s address the problems many of you see with the new TTP Forum.

As you know, we were constantly being bombarded with complaints about the old Fireboard Forum.  So we promised to change it, and when we did, there were all these comments like, Hey, where did this come from, how come it’s changed?

At any rate, let’s take the major substantive complaints.  First is that the SSL certificate of TTP has been compromised.

No it has not.  There is only one and it’s been the same since we renewed it June 2013 – it’s for www.tothepointnews.com and it was issued by Go Daddy.  

What some of you have seen is that various articles include media pulled from other sites that use different certificates – for example when an image is placed in an article or on the site and that image is hosted under an SSL from say Amazon — the certificate used to load it will be Amazon’s. This has nothing to do with the TTP website at all.    

Second is that the Forum’s security has been compromised.  No it has not.  No post on the TTP Forum has been indexed or read by Google or any other spider.

The suspicion that posts have been is a misinterpretation of a feature of the open source bulletin board software we use, phpBB, to mean that the forum comments are accessible and indexed by Google, Bing, & other search spiders.  This is a feature of the board that displays everyone looking at the forum so that you can see any other users currently browsing the forums – including placeholder users for known search engines.

But while the Forum Board Index page itself is readable by Google, Bing, and other spiders, the post content is not. Only registered users can read other users posts and see other users profiles, usernames, etc.  This is still a private registered-users only board.

Third, there is a confusion as to whether the New Forum has the ability to receive "notifications" of new posts to threads a user is interested in, as the Old Forum could.  Here’s how to do so:

You can "subscribe" to any forums under "User Control Panel" -> Overview -> Manage Subscriptions.  Also, anytime you create a post you can ask to be notified of any replies.  

Fourth, there is the question about the New Forum supporting avatars like the Old one.  You can set an avatar under  "User Control Panel" -> Profile -> Edit Avatar.  After you set this it’ll show in any new post you create.

Lastly, there is the request that we install https security for the New Forum.  This will be done shortly.  I am assured by the TTP Webmaster that soon Skye’s EFF plugin https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere will be happy!

I want to reassure everyone that their identities and posts are completely confidential and not made public to any outside entities. Only registered members can view and post on our Forum exclusively.

Also, if people are wondering who is logged is as ETS, at the same time as they are logged in, that is our webmaster… so no cause for concern. He is on our team monitoring everything that goes on inside the Forum.
