HALF-FULL REPORT 03/07/14

It is always an intensely interesting and educational experience on any visit to China.  Now that I’m out, I can talk about it, as everything you do online is monitored – just like in the US (except that you can use an anonymizer like Cryptohippie which is blocked in China).

On Saturday, March 01, there was an astonishing terrorist attack at the railway station of Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.  Six men and two women, wearing masks and all black uniforms of some kind, bearing long knives – no other weapons, just knives – stabbed 29 people to death and wounded well over one hundred.

I was not far away at the time, and flew through the Kunming airport the next day.  There was no extra security, no flight delays, everything was normal with nothing unusual – even though four of the "terrorists" were still at large (the other four had been shot by police at the train station).

The scare quote marks for "terrorists" because, while the world press (see the NYT link above) dutifully swallowed the Xinhua government press claim that the attackers were Moslem Uighurs (wee-gurz) from far western China, where there are constant rebellions against Chicom rule.

The Great Chicom Firewall tries to isolate Chinese from the online world – e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Gmail, and Google are blocked – but within China there is a web communication system called Weibo used by over 500 million people daily – and a lot of folks on Weibo aren’t buying the official story.

They first note that not a single major newspaper in China outside of Yunnan ran the story on the front page.  News is being suppressed.  Second, eyewitnesses report – like this one (in Chinese of course) by a lady named Zuo Ruxing – that the attackers seemed professionally trained and skilled, using only one stab to kill a victim then moving on to the next.

Other witnesses noted that the Number 14 Army Base is located next to the train station, which is being investigated for being controlled by renegade Politburo member Bo Xilai, now in prison.  It’s not easy to kill someone with a knife, especially with just one thrust. 

That 8 untrained Moslem separatists were able to kill 29 and seriously wound over 100 more within a few minutes before station police started gunning them down doesn’t make sense to millions on Weibo.

Looks like the Chicoms are using the Uighurs suffering under Chicom imperialism as scapegoats, to cover up a berserk rampage by a PLA (Peoples Liberation Army) unit under threat.  For background on persecution of the Uighurs, see The Chinese Conundrum from Sept. 2010 (an enticement:  there’s a photo of The Tomb of the Fragrant Concubine).

Like the Former Soviet Union, China is a colonial empire within its own borders.  Since colonizing East Turkestan in 1949, it is always raising the Boogeyman of Islam (as I wrote in June 2005) to justify its oppression (2^nd enticement:  check out The Beauty of Loulan in the article).

The most horrific Chicom colonial oppression, however, is that of Tibet.  The Chinese have slaughtered well over two million Tibetans to maintain their vise grip on their Tibetan colony. 

It is little wonder that the Tibetans call Chinese soldiers garrisoned throughout Tibet tibu, monkeys, Chicom officials pakba, pigs, and the swarms of Chinese immigrants sent to colonize Tibet chusin, crocodiles devouring Tibet’s culture.

Every Chicom undie in Beijing got into a twist over Zero’s meeting with the Dalai Lama on February 21.  Reading the bitter condemnation in the English edition of China Daily brought a sardonic smile to my face.  One can only imagine their impotent rage when yesterday (3/06), the Dalai Lama was the Guest Chaplain giving the opening prayer for the US Senate.

For decades, the Chicoms have focused their hatred on the Dalai Lama and waited for him to die, sure that once he does, they can complete their full suppression of Tibet.  But as explained in Monkeys in Tibet (March 2008), revolts against them are going to explode once he’s gone, rather than go away.

Unfortunately, it’s not just the Chicoms but millions of regular Chinese who will angrily claim "Tibet is a part of China!" if their colonial rule is ever questioned.  Exactly the same with Russians over Ukraine.

As recounted in Monkeys in Tibet, back in the Reagan Doctrine days of the ‘80s, I met a group of anti-Communist Russians who talked inspiringly about how much they wanted freedom and democracy for Russia and an end to Soviet tyranny.

After telling them how much I supported their goals, I asked, "What about freedom for Ukraine?"  They changed from Jekyll to Hyde.  Bristling with anger, they said, "Ukraine is part of Russia!  It will always be a part of Russia!"

What’s so totally ridiculous about this two-bit KGB thug Putin seizing Crimea and playing the Russian bear is how our very own President Pussy hasn’t the cojones to kick him in his vulnerabilities.  As Bloomberg reports, in response to Putin’s invasion, the Russian stock market and the ruble have fallen off a cliff, costing Putin and his oligarch buddies billions in losses. 

As CNN reports, the Russian economy has been on life support for the last year, but the Ukraine crisis has just pulled the plug. And that’s just for starters.

"Why not seize Putin’s assets?" is a question being seriously asked in Western corridors of power.  He’s stashed away tens of billions – reports are as much as $70 billion – and however they are hidden behind cutouts and frontmen, the No Such Agency knows where they are. 

The NSA has to be good for something more than collecting data on US citizens so they can be prosecuted anytime the government wants to target them.  It can easily send Putin’s billions straight down the rabbit hole.

Putin’s Ukraine thuggery would fatally backfire if it would prod the Euroweenies to steamroller the Eco-Luddites freaking out over fracking, and allow a Fracking Boom in Europe producing all the cheap natural gas and oil it needs, breaking free of any need for Russia’s pipelines.  Russia would simply go belly up.

Natural gas prices in Europe are 3 to 4 times higher than in the US ($4 vs. $12-16).  On Wednesday (3/05), Speaker Boehner called for Zero to end the ban on US gas exports.  Interestingly, shortly thereafter, the New York Times reported that the State Department agrees.

"The (Ukraine) crisis has escalated a State Department initiative to use a new boom in American natural gas supplies as a lever against Russia… the strategy is to move aggressively to deploy the advantages of its new resources to undercut Russian natural gas sales to Ukraine and Europe, weakening such moves by Mr. Putin in future years," the NYT reports.

Incidentally, take a look at the gas pipeline map in the article.  Notice that the only gas pipeline to the Crimea (and thus to the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol runs from east of Odessa, far from any Russian influence.  A cutoff of Russkie gas to Ukraine would cut off Crimea.

About Crimea.  The people to keep an eye on there are not the Russians or the Ukrainians but the Crimea Tatars.  They are a Turkic people, descended from Genghiz Khan’s Golden Horde that once ruled Russia.  They are Sunni Moslem, were slaughtered and enslaved by Stalin, hate Russia’s guts and are totally pro-Ukraine. 

There are over a quarter-million of them (12% of Crimea), and if oppressed by Putin they will fight, and fight guerrilla war dirty.  What’s more, such a resistance could ignite their fellow Moslems in southern Russia (the "North Caucasus") who have been rebelling against Moscow rule for 200 years.  As the London Guardian notes (3/05):

"If the Crimean Tatar problem explodes, the blowback for Moscow will be immense… Russia has millions of Moslems of its own, the vast majority of whom are Sunni, including next door in the North Caucasus."

The Sunday (3/09) print edition of the New York Times will have an article on Ukraine already online that I encourage you to read.  The headline is:  How Russia Has Already Lost The War.  Consider these excerpts:

"Ukrainians, who were brought together by shared hatred of the former president, Viktor F. Yanukovych, are being brought closer still by the Kremlin-backed invasion…

Crimea may never again be part of Ukraine. But no matter what happens over the next few months, or even years, Mr. Putin and his vision of an authoritarian, Russian-dominated former Soviet space have already lost. Democratic, independent Ukraine, and the messy, querulous (but also free and law-abiding) ‘European’ idea have won… 

For Ukraine, as well as for Russia and much of the former U.S.S.R., the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 was only a partial revolution. The U.S.S.R. vanished, but the old nomenklatura, and its venal, authoritarian style of governance remained. Mr. Putin is explicitly drawing on that heritage and fitfully trying to reshape it into a new state capitalist system that can compete and flourish globally. An alliance with Mr. Yanukovych’s Ukraine was an essential part of that plan.

That effort has now failed. Whatever Mr. Putin achieves in Ukraine, it will not be partnership with a Slavic younger brother enthusiastically joining in his neo-imperialist, neo-Soviet project."

Putin’s hubris may prove his undoing in Ukraine.  His failure to recolonize it will result in a revolution against him as the Russian economy is flushed down the toilet.  All his macho bare-chested posturing will be a joke for future historians.

My friend John Bolton nailed it yesterday (3/06) in his speech at CPAC:  "Our biggest national security crisis is Barack Obama."

John could not possibly be more spot on.  Yet Zero is not only the Number One threat to America’s national security.  He is the Number One threat to America’s economy, to America’s freedom, to America’s culture, and to America’s future.

So let’s see where Zero and his DemFascist minions may have screwed up this week.

Hugh Hewitt’s prediction a week ago (2/27) that the Dems would suffer a 14-seat Senate loss in November got a boost when one of the most vulnerable, Arkansas’ Mark Pryor on Wednesday (3/05) claimed his Pub opponent, Congressman Tom Cotton had a "sense of entitlement" for a Senate seat because he served in the military.

As HotAir’s Ed Morrissey says, the irony "is so huge that it’s impossible to overstate."  There is no human being in the history of Arkansas who has a greater "sense of entitlement" than Pryor, whose daddy, David, was governor, then senator from 1979-1997.  The jerk got elected trading on his family name.  This gaffe, as Ed says, will bury him.

Another Dem Senator on the way from being toast to burnt toast is North Carolina’s Kay Hagan.  Her approval in an Elon University poll released Tuesday (3/04) is at 33%.  Ouch.  Pub Thom Tillis should win going away.

On the governor front, Connecticut is deeply blue, yet Pub Tom Foley is tied in the latest Quinnipiac poll with Dem Gov Daniel Malloy, 42-42.  As Jack Kelly tells me, when an incumbent is no better than even, and has no more than 42 percent support against a guy who has yet to win his primary, he is almost certainly toast.

Yet it’s even worse for Hawaii’s obnoxious Dem Gov Neal Abercrombie.  Honolulu papers are reporting than Pub challenger Duke Aiona is now way out in front of him 47 to 38%.  That’s just astounding for Blue Hawaii. 

Looks like if the Pubs don’t screw this up, November 2014 could be a massive realignment election.

Of course, the best political news of the week is Zero’s humiliation in the Senate, where on Wednesday (3/05), seven Dems joined all the Pubs to throw the Justice Department nomination of cop-killer defender Debo Adegbile in the ashcan. 

The Hahahahaha moment of the week came when Zero had a hissy fit and condemned the vote as a "travesty."

No, President Slimeball, the travesty was your nomination of Debo in the first place.  Actually, the true travesty is your infestation of the Oval Office.

The most knee-slapping moment of the week came when members of the Democratic National Committee couldn’t name a single accomplishment of Hillary Rodham Clinton.  And this old hag is the Savior of the DemFascist Party in 2016??  In your dreams, Dems…

OK, that’s it, folks.  It’s good to be heading home, and I’m so grateful for Jack Kelly and his marvelous HFR’s in my stead.  Let’s close with a Wow!  That’s as in WOW!  As in Rick Perry at CPAC this morning (3/07).  Perry is back and on fire – this is the 10^th Amendment President we’ve been looking for. 

Ted Cruz might be better for Senate Majority Leader.  Be prepared to stand up and cheer like everyone else at CPAC.
