THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DREAM THERE HAS EVER BEEN

On October 28, 2001, as America was trying to cope with the shock of September 11, Game 2 of the World Series  began with Ray Charles singing America the Beautiful for 50,000 attending the game and millions via television.  To this day, it’s hard to watch without tears pouring down your face:

America is the most beautiful dream there has ever been.  On this Thanksgiving Day, let’s reflect on why, and what has happened to it.

The word dream has several meanings.  Webster’s gives them as:  a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep; a visionary creation of the imagination; a state of mind marked by abstraction or release from reality; something notable for its beauty, excellence, or enjoyable quality; a strongly desired goal or purpose; something that fully satisfies a wish, an ideal.

A dream can be a fantasy, a delusion, a nightmare – or it can be an inspiration, a moral ideal, an ultimate standard of excellence.  What ties all these meanings together is being not real.  A dream is something imaginary, as opposed to reality.

We have dreams of America – of what we imagine America to have been and what it could be.  For conservatives, these dreams are heroic and inspiring.  For liberals, they are nightmares.  When we think of America, we think of what’s good and moral; when liberals think of America, they think of what’s bad and immoral.

When we think of the 1950s, we think they were idyllic – Ozzie & Harriet, Leave it to Beaver America.  When liberals do, they think of Jim Crow-McCarthyism America.  When we think of Thomas Jefferson, we think of the Declaration of Independence and the Louisiana Purchase.  When they do, they think, "He owned slaves."

Our dreams minimize America’s imperfections.  Theirs maximize them.  We are proud of our country, they are ashamed.  Ask a liberal if he or she is proud to be an American, and if they say "Yes," they’ll always follow it with a "but" and a litany of denunciations.

Here’s the bottom line to this dichotomy.  All countries and peoples have ideals, a dream of what their society should aspire to be.  America’s are the most noble and moral of any in history.

No country ever in history had been founded on the ideals of individual freedom and the consent of the governed before 1776, much less had the almost superhuman courage to fight and defeat the greatest superpower of the day to achieve them.  And what’s more, those ideals were in fact achieved to an extraordinary extent.

This is the fact that liberals and today’s Democrats cannot admit.  Because of America’s founding moral principles, America has achieved more freedom and more prosperity for its people than any other nation in history by far – no other nation comes remotely close.

All liberals and Democrats do is focus on the flaws, and then guilt-monger them as a means of achieving their goal – power instead of prosperity.  And we allowed them to.  We let them get away with it.  By focusing on the ideal, we allowed America’s dream to slip further and further from reality.

Today, they are coming ever closer to achieving their dream of America as a Nanny Police State, a fascist nightmare that is an Orwellian antithesis of America’s founding principles.

The culmination of this tragedy was 16 days before last Thanksgiving, when on November 6, 2012, millions of Platonic Conservatives and Libertarians chose to let the perfect be the enemy of the good by not voting for Mitt Romney, and thereby consigning their country to the Forces of Darkness.

We can use this Thanksgiving to commit ourselves to rescuing America from these forces so determined to destroy America’s Dream.

Today is supposed to be one of gratitude.  It’s time to say that gratitude is not enough.  All the thankfulness on earth for America’s blessings will not get them back, for the truth is that so very many of those blessings are gone.  The Democrats’ Nanny Police State has eliminated them, along with millions of people’s livelihoods including, now, their health insurance.

It is going to take action, not gratitude, to dismantle the Nanny Police State, and start turning the American Dream into reality once again.

That action is a Revolution of Disobedience.  Defying the Nanny Police State’s unconstitutional edicts through peaceful civil disobedience has to become today and tomorrow’s civil rights movement.  It’s going to take the same courage of America’s Founders to do so.

One way, even the best way, to initiate this is to disobey the edicts of liberal political correctness.  To go on the moral offensive against liberals and Zero-worshipping Dems at every opportunity.  Pick a fight with a liberal today!  And every day from now on, at work, at school, even at the dinner table tonight if a lib family member is there.

The purpose of Thanksgiving is to be thankful for being American. Thankful with no buts.   No whining and moaning about what happened to the Indians, or about slavery and poverty and racism. No buts.

You’ll drive libtards crazy if you ask them to do this.  See what happens when you ask them if they agree with these facts.  If they disagree, they must name the alternative and factually back it up.

*America is the least racist nation on earth (to disagree, another country must be named and knowledgeably described with less racial turmoil and animosity).

*Americans are the most charitable and generous people on our planet; no other people or country comes remotely close.

* America has more religious freedom than any other nation.

* American capitalism has created more wealth for more people than any economy in world history.

* American soldiers have brought more freedom to more people throughout the world than those of any country in history.

* Western Civilization, of which America is the pre-eminent example, has brought incalculable benefits to mankind, compared to which its blemishes are negligible.

The most beautiful dream there has ever been is the America our Founders conceived of – and then fought with their lives to create in reality.  If we wish to adequately express our thankfulness and gratitude to them, and to Providence for blessing their efforts, then we must commit ourselves to recreating their dream in reality.

The American Dream still exists as an ideal – but no longer in reality.  It has been stolen by those who wish to pervert and destroy it.  We can recapture it and bring it to life once again.  Let’s begin doing so on this Thanksgiving Day.
