WHEN WILL AMERICANS BE AMERICANS AGAIN?

There is so little doubt over who is the TTP Hero of the Week right now that I’m jumping the gun, rather than disclose it in the Half-Full Report tomorrow.

She’s a lady from the small town (pop. 6,600) of Wetumpka, Alabama on the Coosa River some 12 miles north of Montgomery.  Her name is Becky Gerritson. 

Day before yesterday (6/04), in her capacity as founder and president of the Wetumpka Tea Party, she testified on Capitol Hill before the House Ways and Means Committee.  After putting up with her and her fellow witnesses being mocked by one of the biggest scumbags in Congress, Baghdad Jim McDermott – who told them they had "brought [IRS persecution] upon themselves" – she told the Congressistas:

"I’m not here as a serf or a vassal. I’m not begging my lords for mercy. I’m a born-free American woman, wife, mother, and citizen. And I’m telling my government that you’ve forgotten your place."

 
Her statement, after recounting the IRS abuses visited upon her group, concluded with these tearful words:

"This was a willful act of intimidation to discourage a point of view. What the government did to our little group in Wetumpka, Alabama, was Un-American. It isn’t a matter of firing or arresting individuals. The individuals who sought to intimidate were acting as they thought they should, in a government culture that has little respect for its citizens.

Many of the agents and agencies of the federal government do not understand that they are the servants of the people. They think they are our masters, and they are mistaken.

I’m not interested in scoring political points. I want to protect and preserve the America that I grew up in, the America that people crossed oceans and risked their lives to become a part of, and I’m terrified that it is slipping away."

 
 
The CommieMedia ignored her magnificent words.  The only praise was on Fox, by Stuart Varney:

"You’ve forgotten your place."  These are indeed the words of a proudly born-free American, and Becky Gerritson should be a hero to all of us for the courage to stand up to the Fascists of Washington and say them to their face.  Yet her heroic words are also tragic, for it is millions of her countrymen who have allowed the fascisti to forget their place.

Actually, not just millions but tens of millions, scores of millions who live in fear and dependency in America, and as a result are no longer born-free Americans like Becky Gerritson.  She has the self-reliance to accept personal responsibility for her life – so she could look the Congressistas (Pub and Dem) in the eye and tell them: "It’s not your responsibility to look out for my wellbeing" – but at least half her country does not.

A perfect example took place this morning (6/06), when the Senate voted (with half of the Pubs joining the Dems) to bring the trillion dollar food stamp bill to the floor.  Yes, S.954 is entitled the "Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act of 2013" and called simply the Farm Bill, but over 80% of its $973 billion is for food stamps.

By the Dems’ design – people who are dependent upon you vote for you – a record number of 47.8 million Americans are on Food Stamps now.  The House version wants to cut food stamp spending by 3% over 10 years – the most Pubs could gin up the courage for – and the Dems are predictably screaming over heartless Republicans wanting to starve the poor.

Even more Americans are scared – frightened-in-their-boots terrified – of the federales.  When I think of the IRS, for example, I think of penguins.  I was just in Antarctica, as you know, and I saw a lot of them.  One of the most interesting sights is to watch a mass of them on an iceberg wanting to jump in the water to catch fish because they’re hungry – but they don’t know if there’s a leopard seal waiting for them underwater.

So the ones in the back are pushing and the ones in the front are screaming in penguin squawk, "Stop pushing!"  — until a few fall off, and they all stop and wait to see the fate of those in the water.  A leopard seal is a large animal.  It can be over 11 feet long and weigh up to 1,300 pounds.  Here’s one we encountered off South Georgia (that’s me in the red coat):

Leopard seals are ferocious predators. Penguins have very good reason to be scared of them – here’s why:

Be a tax protestor, and the IRS will swallow you like a leopard seal swallows a penguin.  Maybe the way to destroy the IRS and make it ineffectual is for millions of Americans to defy them – but like the penguins on the iceberg, who gets to jump in the water first?

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has a website up asking people to sign a petition to Abolish the IRS.  Signing it is an invitation for a visit by a leopard seal.  Besides, there’s only one way to actually get rid of the IRS predator, and it certainly isn’t passing some law that the next Congress and President can change:  you must repeal the 16^th Amendment.  That’s a tall order.

Further, going after one agency, no matter how nefarious, is too small a target.  Somehow, we’ve got to get Americans to learn how to be Americans again.  To get a nation of Becky Gerritsons, we need vast numbers to experience what it’s like. 

One way to do so would be to welcome Zero’s threats of a government shutdown if the House passes a budget he doesn’t like.  Remember that all money bills have to be initiated in the House.  The House holds the purse strings – all it has to do is refuse to appropriate money for some program and that program is belly up.  Neither the Senate nor the President can constitutionally authorize any money spent unless the House first says so.

A wonderful example just occurred a few hours ago, when the House voted 224-201 to defund the implementation of Zero’s DREAM amnesty policy.  Marvelous.

All Zero can do is threaten to veto a budget bill – which must also pass the Senate to get to his desk.  In so doing, he can shut down the whole federal apparatus – and Tea Partyers, conservatives, libertarians, should be like Br’er Rabbit pleading, "Oh, please don’t throw me in that briar patch!":

We have to do whatever it takes to cajole, wheedle, threaten, force, persuade Pub Congresscritters to shut the federal monster down.  Actually, to have Zero do it for them.  Look at all the über-hyperbolic chicken-little sky-is-falling predictions of Doomsday that Zero made over the dreaded Sequester – not one of which came true. 

Americans need to learn to live without Washington police state fascism.  That’s got to be the message, that’s got to be the overall goal.  Once they see that they can stand on their own two feet without a government crutch, then we can move to concrete goals, like eliminating entire government departments and agencies.

For starters, the EPA, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Insecurity, the Deaprtment of Agriculture, and Health & Human Services.  Then we can move on to repealing the 16^th Amendment.  (That would require an Amendment to do so, like the 21^st to repeal the 18^th – Prohibition – so might as well repeal the 16^th and the 17^th in one package deal.)

But in the meantime, it is now our patriotic duty to act on Becky Gerritson words.  Every time a public official or bureaucrat-municipal, state, or most especially federal – interacts with you in an imperious, demanding, or inappropriate manner, we need to respond by informing them that they have forgotten their place. 

That they are a public servant.  Since you are part of the public, that means they work for you, and they need to go get you a cup of coffee, rather than be bossy and make unreasonable requests with which you will not comply. (It’s OK to make an exception for the IRS leopard seal.)
