HALF-FULL REPORT 05/24/13

Might as well get the most disappointing news of the week out of the way first.

In light of the Boy Scouts of America announcing its capitulation to the homosexual lobby yesterday (5/23), I am very tempted to return to them my Eagle Scout medal.  I have a letter framed and on the wall of my study.  Dated November 23, 1956, it is addressed to me and personally signed by Dwight Eisenhower, President of the United States.

He wrote how much he "greatly enjoyed my meeting with you and your family," and ended with "congratulations on being the youngest Eagle Scout."  The story is told in A Boy Scout’s Fantasy

I am ashamed of BSA and disgusted at their cowardice in abandoning their principles for the sake of liberal PC approval.  Countless parents will now never let their boys join the Boy Scouts and with good reason.  And of course, the BSA leadership is too stupid to realize that this is only the start of their moral surrender — for this is the opposite of placating the homosexual lobby, it simply encourages them to escalate their demands.

As the "LGBT" crowd did immediately after the BSA announcement, saying it is only the "first step" in BSA capitulation to them.  They are right:  it is the first step on the road to the ruination of the Boy Scouts.

We need a belly laugh after that, and it’s provided by the Drudge Report which has been running hilarious headlines this week on Anthony "Little" Weiner’s run for Mayor of New York.  It was one year ago (last week of May, 2011) that Weinergate broke, resulting in the punniest week ever for the HFR.  Example from that HFR a year ago:

"The cocky Congressman has turned himself into the object of ridicule he’s always trying to make of conservatives.  He started out with a small problem but he’s made it worse with a limp defense.  Reporters described his response to their questions as ‘testy.’

He’s really bent out of shape.  And now Barney Frank wants to take the matter in hand and examine the Weiner evidence. He wants to make sure the matter is big enough to investigate.  Word is, Barney has called for oral arguments to begin immediately."

In keeping with this, how could Drudge resist red-siren headlining the news of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s putdown of Weiner’s candidacy as PREMATURE ELECTION, and subtitling the headline with an altered quote of Cuomo:  "Shame on us if we erect him."

Nothing is deadlier to a politician than to be a joke in the eyes of the public.  Jay Leno did it to Zero on The Tonight Show Monday night (5/20).  Here’s the transcript but be sure and watch the embedded video of Kids Ask Obama the Darndest Questions.

Leno followed this up on Wednesday night (5/22) in his opening monologue, joking:

"White House officials continue to insist that President Obama knew nothing about the IRS scandal until we all heard about it in the news last week. Well, they said because there was an investigation under way, it would have been inappropriate to tell him. And besides, he was too busy not knowing anything about Benghazi to not know anything about the IRS. Yeah.

"So the President didn’t know about Benghazi, didn’t know about the IRS scandal, didn’t know about the AP scandal. You know what this means? They took ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ out of the Pentagon and moved it into the White House."

You know the HMS (His Majesty’s Ship) Zero is in danger of sinking when the rats of the Libtard Media have started abandoning it.

On Wednesday (5/22), the editorial staff of the New York Times ran an official op-ed condemning "the Obama administration" for "threatening fundamental freedoms of the press."

The day before (5/21), the lawyer for the New York Times, James Goodale, wrote a NYT article entitled, "Only Nixon Harmed A Free Press More."  What Goodale said, though, was worse than that:

"President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom."

CBS News agrees that Zero is now worse than Nixon.  In a news story – not an opinion piece but straight reporting – yesterday (5/23), CBS stated:

"For the first time ever, a presidential administration is treating news reporting like a crime, and a reporter like a criminal suspect."

"First time ever…" meaning that not even Nixon, nor any other president, is as condemnable as Zero here.

And yesterday evening (5/23), the entire home page of HuffPo, the Libtard media’s main website, was devoted to a demand that Eric Holder resign:  "TIME TO GO"  blared HuffPo.

By this morning (5/24), however, the demand had vanished.  Just the story on which the demand was based is there.  Did HuffPo get a late night DOJ knock on its door?  In any regard, the revelation that Holder himself signed the search warrant for seizing Fox reporter James Rosen’s personal emails means there is now a death watch for Holder trying to remain as Attorney General.  He is toast.

************

The only news this week that could possibly be better than Holder soon to be an ex-AG is this.

Mrs. Zero  will be taking an "extended vacation" for the next few months, running away and hiding from the world and shutting up so we won’t have to suffer her insufferable busybody hectoring.

Time for two personal notes.

First, I along with all TTPers owe a debt of gratitude and big time thanks to TTPer, American Patriot Extraordinaire, and my friend, Larry Bailey

Capt. Bailey, former Navy SEAL and Commandant of the US Navy Special Warfare Center in Coronado CA that trains the SEALs, is the founder of SpecialOperationsSpeaks.  SOS has led the charge in exposing Zero’s and Hillary’s lying perfidy over Benghazi.  It is thanks to Larry and SOS that the scandal has been exposed, and Hillary’s chances for 2016 are in ruins.

I’d like to encourage you to support SOS in any way you can.

Second, it is with regret that I report the passing of my friend John Goddard, an explorer and adventurer extraordinaire, one week ago (5/17).  John was famous for his list of adventure goals, many of which he achieved.  We both were from Glendale CA, but as he was 20 years older than me, I only got to know him after I was set in my adventurous ways.

We’d always kid each other how the media liked to call us both "the real-life Indiana Jones," and all the various scrapes and near-misses we’d had.  Few people have lived life like John Goddard.  And he survived it all in one piece, making it to 88.  I should be so lucky.  RIP, John.

Who might be the HFR Hero of the Week?  None other than Apple CEO Tim Cook, who made no apology to the Senate Subcommittee of Fascist Intimidation on Tuesday (5/21).

The Senate extortionists and their envious echo-chamber in the media were outraged that Apple paid only $6 billion in taxes to the IRS last year, and "avoided" paying $9 billion more.  They were shocked that Cook didn’t grovel before them.

It’s cosmic irony that businessmen and private businesses are always accused of being greedy "fat cats" – when the greediest institutions and people on earth are governments and those who run them.

There was, however, one Senator on the committee with honesty, decency, and integrity – Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.  In no uncertain terms, he said he was offended by his colleagues’ spectacle, and demanded they apologize to Apple.

The Wall Street Journal (5/21) demolished Dem Sen. Carl Levin’s attempt to extort and demonize Apple.  But the article you really need to read is Tim Carney’s on Apple and the Beltway Shakedown.

Tim is spot-on.  This is the way Washington works.  It’s a shakedown racket of fascist extortion.  If you read nothing else this week, read and reflect on Apple and the Beltway Shakedown (yes, I’m repeating it, it’s that important.)

************

As everyone beyond the Washington Beltway is all too aware, the biggest shakedown artist in America is our beloved IRS.  And it’s about to become vastly more so, as it’s in charge of enforcing Obamacare.  The potential for fascist abuse is gargantuan.

Here’s how gargantuan.  Last March, a lawsuit was filed against a number of IRS agents by a California healthcare company, alleging that, without a search warrant, "in a case involving solely a tax matter involving a former employee of the company, these agents stole more than 60,000,000 medical records of more than 10,000,000 Americans, including at least 1,000,000 Californians."

The Spectator gives the background to the suit, then asks:  Has The IRS Already Seized Your Medical Records?

As Dagny D’Anconia tells me:

"In the California case alone, 1 person in 30 in America now has their personal medical records seized and data mined.  Imagine the blackmail potential for the Democrats to use.

Obama has put the person at the IRS in charge of abusing the conservative organizations into the position of the head of Obamacare:  Sarah Ingram.   Do you want a person like that in charge of your medical decisions?  Who will live and who will die under her hand?  Who will have their healthcare approved, and who will not?  Who will be taxed and who will be exempted?

Perhaps conservative people will quietly die from lack of medical care, one by one, alone and never knowing why they were not approved.  At what point do we call it a political genocide?"

The IRS Abuse Scandal is rapidly reaching escape velocity. The example of jack-boot tyranny suffered by Catherine Engelbrecht, provided by Peggy Noonan yesterday (5/23), is one reason of many why Charles Krauthammer thinks this is the scandal that could be "a fatal problem" for Zero.

Another reason is that on Monday (5/20), the IRS Abuse Scandal’s smoking gun was revealed: that the day before the IRS launched its attack on conservative groups, Zero met with the IRS union boss in the Oval Office.

At this point, however, what TTPers, Tea-Partyers, and all conservatives should be doing is yell Whoa!! to the temptation to make this personal, about getting Zero.  The goal should be much bigger than some vendetta.

Thanks, as Jack Kelly tells me, to Zero and his Obamunists providing such revolting illustrations of big government tyranny, there is now an unprecedented opportunity to strike a major blow for conservative reform, if we have the wit to recognize it and the guts to go big.

Big means BIG.  It means there is now the best chance of our lifetime to abolish the IRS, lock, stock, and tyrannical barrel.

Imagine the impact on the voting public if the House Pubs this fall, after debating the alternatives, passed a bill to junk the entire current tax code and replace it with either a 10% Flat Tax or a national Fair Tax.

The Reid Senate would scoff, but if the House went large on this and with the IRS Abuse Scandal too large to ignore, then Kelly argues, Senate Dems could sign off on getting the IRS out of Obamacare.  Then the Pubs can rid of the whole IRS meshugaas when they take the Senate in the 2014 mid-terms.

Kelly thinks the Obamunists can now be put permanently on the defensive.  Zero’s unwillingness to admit error ever, coupled with reluctance to make decisions means the Obamunists will likely always be a beat or two behind the power curve in responding to new revelations, which will occur with greater frequency if potential whistleblowers see him getting weaker.

Zero’s credibility will continue to suffer mortal wounds, which is critically damaging to liberals’ assumption of moral superiority.  Let’s use this fabulous opportunity not just to get Zero, but to get big, intrusive, fascist, unconstitutional, police state government out of our lives.  Let’s begin by getting rid of the IRS.

It’s time to have some fun, so that’s what we’re going to end with.

I have an incurable fondness for The Eagles.  Who can ever forget Hotel California, or Your Lyin’ Eyes, or Take It Easy (Standin’ on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, and it’s such a fine sight to see;  it’s a girl, my Lord, in flat-bed Ford, slowin’ down to take a look at me…)?

When The Eagles broke up in 1980, their founder Glenn Frey went solo.  His most successful album was The Allnighter, released in 1984.

I did a lot of speaking on college campuses around the country in those days, on the coming collapse of the Soviet Union.  I’d intro my speech by having a track from The Allnighter played through the auditorium’s sound system — really loud.  The kids’ cages would always be rattled – for here was badass rock n’ roll played by one of rock music’s icons, and it couldn’t be more anti-Soviet and pro-American.

I thought I’d play it for you now – because as Frey joyously compared America to the "cold and gray" Soviet Union, so shall we, in the not distant future, celebrate a post-Zero America.  The lyrics follow, so you can sing along.  If you can’t rock out to this, you haven’t got a pulse. Turn your speakers or your headphones up to the max and enjoy…

(Ps:  Note the left is in the dark and the right is in the light)

It’s Better In The USA, by Glenn Frey — 1984

{mp3}08 – better in the usa{/mp3}

Lyrics (chorus in parentheses)

Well, they look to the east
They look to the west
The Third World wonders
Which way’s the best
We got freedom, we got soul
We got blue jeans and rock’n’roll

Man, there ain’t no choice
It’s better in the U.S.A.
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)
You can be what you want
Say what you wanna say
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)
Why can’t I make you understand?
It’s better in the U.S.A.
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)

I hear the same propaganda day after day
It’s gettin’ so hip to knock the U.S.A.
If we’re so awful and we’re so bad
You oughta check the night life in Leningrad

Man, it ain’t even close
It’s better in the U.S.A.
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)
If you could see behind the curtain
Life is cold and grey
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)
How can I make you understand?
It’s better in the U.S.A.
(It’s better, it’s better)
I think I’ll play

Woah!

Nobody’s perfect and change comes slow
It’s really up to you which way you wanna go
You can move to the left
Or move to the right
You can stand in the dark
You can stand in the light

Drivin’ on the beach
On a night in June
Me and my baby
In the lover’s moon
They’re playin’ sweet soul music
Got it turned up loud
Make me feel so good
Make me feel so proud

Man, there ain’t no choice
It’s better in the U.S.A.
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)
Well, they’d be movin’ here from Moscow
If they could only find a way
(It’s better in the U.S.A.)
How can I make you understand?
It’s better in the U.S.A., baby, baby
(It’s better)

We got the burgers and fries
(In the U.S.A.)
We got the friendly skies
(In the U.S.A.)
We got the beautiful girls
(In the U.S.A.)
Got the beautiful curls
(In the U.S.A.)
We’re drivin’ beautiful cars
(In the U.S.A.)
We’re diggin’ movie stars
(In the U.S.A.)
We get to make romance
(In the U.S.A.)
Let the little girl dance
(In the U.S.A.)

It’s better, baby
Nice sweater, baby
What do you say you and me go for a little drive?
Come on

(It’s better, it’s better, it’s better…)
