Ia orana!  That’s Hello! in Tahitian (ee-ah-rana).

Captain James Cook (1728-1779) made his first voyage to Tahiti in April 1769.  Whenever introduced to a chief, he would doff his hat, sweep it before him with a slight bow, and greet him by saying, "Your Honor."  Tahitians have been greeting each other by saying how they pronounced "your honor" ever since.

Most all of us dream at one time or another of living in a Polynesian paradise of perfect balmy weather, palm trees wafting in the breeze over soft sandy beaches, turquoise lagoons laden with fish, dramatic mountains covered with fruit-laden tropical forests – something like this, maybe…

raivavae.png

I took this on a motu or sand islet on the reef surrounding the island of Raivavae in the Austral Islands of French Polynesia.  This is remote or real Polynesia, not the tourist version.  No hotels, no restaurants, no air conditioning, no swimming pools (infinity or otherwise), no Internet, intermittent electricity, and what few modern conveniences exist from a cold Hinano beer to a liter of gas are exceedingly expensive.

Which is why there are so few tourists in this "unspoiled" idyllic island, and almost no one comes here to retire.  The islanders who live here are wonderfully friendly, Raivavae is breathtakingly beautiful, you’ll never forget a visit here – but it won’t take long before you want to get back to America.

************

The current on-going tragedy, of course, is that the America we’d want to get back to seems no longer to exist.  Reading every morning’s news these days is like reading – and living in – a horror story.  When will it end?  Or will we never get our country back from the fascist thugs in Washington who have stolen it?

Conservative scholar Michael Barone published a short book last month (12/12) entitled "Can Big Government Be Rolled Back?"  It is a concise compendium of Republican efforts to stem or stymie the relentless tide of Democrat fascism since Warren Harding fought the legacy of Woodrow Wilson.  He ends with the Clinton-Gingrich duel in the late 90s and doesn’t mention Zero at all.

In sum:  the GOP was occasionally effective in preventing as much expansion as the Dems wanted over the last 100 years, but never succeeded in truly rolling the expansion back.  Further, Barone offers no substantive suggestions or real hope as to how rollback could genuinely be achieved in the future.

For us old-timer Cold Warriors, however, "rollback" has a distinctive redolence.  We remember when the "rollback" of the Soviet Union seemed an impossible dream in the face of the relentless expansion of the Soviet Empire.  Yet it was done.  And how it was done has a distinctive relevance for today.

Soviet Rollback was achieved by liberating enough of its colonies until the Soviet Union itself could be extinguished as a nation-state.  The Soviet Union, we argued, was Humpty-Dumpty.  Once it was broken apart, it could never be put back together again.

To what extent could this be a recipe for regaining our freedom as Americans?

************

We should start by accepting that our once sovereign states have become colonies of an unconstitutional federal government, run by a political party that has cheated its way into power.  With Zero’s stolen second term, we are subjugated under a Putin’s "democracy" in Russia or Chavez’s in Venezuela.  For Zero’s ruling elite, the Constitution exists only as something to be gotten around, and to which only lip service must be paid.

The next step is to identify those colonies where resistance to colonial oppression is strongest and has the most potential.  That’s what we did with the Reagan Doctrine.  Focus on where Soviet rule was the weakest and most vulnerable.  So we ignored Cuba and supported the Contras in Nicaragua and the Muj in Afghanistan.

When the Muj won and the defeated Soviet Red Army retreated in February, 1989, the focus was upon the Soviet colonies of Eastern Europe.  When the Berlin Wall fell in November, 1989, the focus became the colonies inside the Soviet Union itself.  In December, 1991, the Soviet Union ceased to exist.

So we must today focus on where resistance to Washington’s colonial oppression is strongest.  This week, two examples emerged.

On Monday (01/21), HB490, The Mississippi Balance of Powers Act, was introduced into the state’s legislature.  TTPers are encouraged to study the Bill’s text closely.  It is a quite well-reasoned argument for the Tenth Amendment, and against the specious use of the Commerce Clause, the Necessary & Proper Clause, and the General Welfare Clause to expand federalie power.

The Bill’s purpose is to: "serve as a notice and demand to the federal government to cease and desist any and all activities outside the scope of its designated constitutionally enumerated powers."  To effect this, it will establish a "Joint Legislative Committee on the Neutralization of Federal Laws."  Yes, neutralization.  Another word for nullification.

The committee may call for a vote by simple majority of the State Legislature to "neutralize in its entirety a specific federal law or regulation that is outside the scope of the powers delegated by the people to the federal government in the United States Constitution."

If the legislature votes to so neutralize, "then the state and its citizens shall not recognize or be obligated to live under the (federal) statute, mandate or executive order."

The CommieMedia is already busy smearing this effort as – what else? – racist.  After all, it’s from Mississippi, so as the AP smear job argues (which is parroted by Fox News), it’s by definition racist.

Thus it is vitally important that HB490 be replicated in other state legislatures outside of the South – Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, the Dakotas, for example.  TTPers with influence and contacts among state legislators could not be more encouraged to lobby them to introduce the neutralization bill in their legislature.

This is at the state level.  The second example of colonial resistance is at the county level.

On Wednesday (1/23), the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) issued a list of the scores of county sheriffs across the country who are publicly pledging not to enforce Zero’s unconstitutional gun control Executive Orders.

Typical is the open letter to Zero signed by the entire membership of the Utah Sheriffs Association. The key quote:

"As the duly-elected sheriffs of our respective counties, we will enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal official will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights – in particularly Amendment II – has given them.

We, like you, swore a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation."

"Trade our lives"  — the HFR interprets that to mean they’ll resist federalie attempts at gun seizure with armed force.

So here is action TTPers can take in their county – launch an effort to persuade their county sheriff to join the CSPOA and sign the open letter to Zero.

The bottom line here is that the place to fight federalie fascism and colonialism is not Washington.  We need to focus our efforts far, far less on the fools on both sides of the DC aisle, and far more on where we live – or ought to live.  For if you are in a Deep Blue State, you need to consider every option for getting out and into a Deep Red one.

The only way to defeat DC is at the state and county level.  A coordinated effort of Red States refusing to enforce federalie fascism is what it will take for states to end their colonial status.  That could lead to outright secession and the ultimate breakup of the United States.

But I doubt it.  Today, America is bitterly divided by the Makers and the Takers, the Producers and the Parasites.  Yet America is not Humpty-Dumpty as was the Soviet Union.  There is a common bond between most Americans that Soviet subjects never had.  This applies to those Americans so addicted to government handouts they can’t imagine how they’d survive without them.

The day is soon coming, however, when the handouts will vanish – via federal default, hyperinflation, governmental collapse, state secession, as what cannot go on has to stop.  The takers will have to fend for themselves – and most will amaze themselves by figuring it out.  Then they’ll be proud of themselves for doing so, and be real Americans again.

Thus, the breakup of America is what it may take for America to be reconstituted and free.  Just make sure you are well out of harm’s way during the process, safe in a Red State and not anywhere near any urban area full of moochers.

One other thing you can do:  if you’re not already a member, join the NRA.  TTPer Mitch Rapp has tipped the HFR about a deal Gun Talk radio show host Tom Gresham has made (scroll to end).  Instead of paying $1K for a NRA Life Membership, it will cost you only 300 bucks.

You need only call 888-678-7894 – and you get American Rifleman for life, plus a host of discounts, and as Mitch says, you’ll be helping the most effective gun rights lobby there is when they need it.

************

And TTPer Edd wants you to know about another outfit deserving your support:  Students for Concealed Carry.  This April, their members will be wearing empty holsters on campuses all over the country protesting laws that allow only criminals to be armed at schools.

************

Oh, you did see that Fox Poll (1/20) revealing that two-thirds of gun owners would defy a federal law to take their guns?  Even well over half of self-described Dems and libs said they would.  The path to liberty is reasoned disobedience.

Amidst all the garbage of bad news this week – like Pubwimps letting the PIAPS make fools of them in her "testimony," or the continuing demilitarization/feminization of our military – at least one smack in Zero’s smart-ass face was delivered.  The DC Federal Appeals Court invalidated his faux-recess appointments to the NLRB, and thus hundreds of its rulings.

It’s small beer compared to the tsunami of awfulness, but it’s something.  And if you want something more, you might peruse this offering from the folks at The Hayride whom TTPer Kermit knows well.  It makes a good effort to put a pretty face on the Pubs’ voting on Wednesday (1/23) to raise the debt ceiling until May.  I’ll let you decide if the effort succeeds.

Well, time to close – I’ve got to catch a plane back home – by naming the HFR Hero of the Week.  First, though, the Jerk of the Week.

Couldn’t we ask David Attenborough to speak for himself and not all of humanity?  Let’s ask him to say, "I am a plague on the earth," and to rectify this deplorable situation by committing suicide.  Would you please be so kind, Sir David, to make your contribution to getting rid of the plague by getting rid of yourself?  It’s the least you could do.

It’s fitting then, that the Hero of the Week is another Englishman – Captain Wales of the British Army, who has announced he has blown away more than one Taliban terrorist when flying his Apache attack helicopter in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province.  What’s more, he’s proud of it, that he’s "taken lives to save lives."  It’s his job.  "People trying to do bad stuff… we take them out of the game."

"Captain Wales," you see, is Prince Harry, grandson of the Queen of England, who has the moxie to tell every Moslem crazy – and there are boatloads of them in England – to come after him.  With royalty like this, England may yet have a chance.

But does America?  Yes, if we refuse to submit to Washington, focus on freedom in our states and counties, and be prepared to ride out the storm when DC control collapses. For it will collapse.  Washington is Humpty Dumpty, not America.
