HALF-FULL REPORT 10/21/11

Rough justice.  You’ve all seen the phone camera pics and videos.  They are horrific, but you can’t have much sympathy for a murderous monster like Gaddafi.  He got what he deserved – especially since he was given a plethora of opportunities to safely leave Libya and live out his days in comfortable exile.  The choice to end like this was his.

So Bush got Saddam and Zero will claim he got Gaddafi – even though Marco Rubio was right in observing that it was the Brits and French.  The contrast in how they were "gotten" is, however, instructive in the extreme.

That contrast is between the humane calm professionalism of American soldiers pulling Saddam Hussein out of his spider hole, and the bloody frenzy of ragtag Libyan rebels pulling Moammar Gaddafi out of his drain pipe.  This is the difference between civilization and barbarism, between democracy and mobocracy.  It is tempting to say the difference is reflected in that between the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street.

If that’s a stretch, let’s talk about Tarzan.  We all had heroes when we were kids, and mine was Tarzan of the Apes.  I had every Tarzan book written by Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) and devoured them all (yes, they still are in my library).  One phrase of Burroughs that he used often stuck with me:  what he called "the thin veneer of civilization" that diaphanously covered the savagery of which so many humans are capable.

That "thin veneer" is all that protects us from the savages.  Damage or destroy it, and the savages among us quickly emerge to take over.  This is what the man Americans elected to be the President of the United States three years ago is committed to doing.

You see it in the anti-white racial violence of black flash mobs. You see it in the rat-infested filth of the Occupy Oakland protest, where a local TV reporter was told on Wednesday (10/19) "We shoot white bitches like you here."

Yesterday (10/20), the Oakland Tribune newspaper reported that the Occupy Oakland encampment next to Oakland’s City Hall was populated by "homeless people, ex-convicts, at least one registered sex offender, students, unemployed hotel workers, reform-minded activists … bullies, the mentally ill, drunks, thugs, and anarchists," in a scene akin to a one from ‘Lord of the Flies.’

These are the people Zero told on ABC News Tuesday(10/18) that he is "on their side."

Oh – and all those pitifully educated, hopelessly naïve trust-fund hippies camped out in New York’s Zuccotti Park are getting a thin veneer lesson too: Fellow protestors are stealing all their expensive capitalist-made stuff, like iPhones, digital cameras, and laptops.  Think they’ll learn their lesson?

You have to be ready for this.  We know that the folks who write and publish the New York Times are moral scum – but this last weekend(10/15) they ran a story so breathtakingly evil it will be difficult to wrap your mind around it.  The headline is Planned Parenthood Struggles After State Budget Cuts.

Since the NYT is blatantly pro-abortion it’s expected to support Planned Parenthood’s abortion mills and denounce that "Around the country, state legislatures from Arizona to Kansas have passed sweeping measures this year intended to make it more onerous for Planned Parenthood clinics to stay open."

What specifically infuriates the NYT here is that the Texas legislature earlier this year cut the state "family-planning" (the left’s euphemism for abortion) budget from $115.5 million to $37.9 million over the next two years (why is there such a budget item at all?).

Try not to hyperventilate when you read why the NYT thinks this is inexcusable:

"Budget analysts warned lawmakers that reducing family-planning access would affect at least 180,000 men and women each year and could lead to more than 20,000 additional babies being born at a cost of more than $200 million."

Warned?  Warned?  20,000 babies not murdered, being given birth and life instead, is a terrible catastrophe to these people.  The NYT closes its story with a quote from a Planned Parenthood client:

"We’ll be worse if they take away that money for Planned Parenthood. The hospitals will be filled. We will have more children. We will need more food stamps. This is not what the Valley needs. This is not what our community needs. This is not what Texas needs."

Children will cost food stamps, so they should be murdered instead.  This is the evil of the Left naked and unadorned.

Let’s have a pick-me-up after that.  Here’s a good news headline:  More Than 2,000 Military Chaplains Say ‘No’ To Homosexual ‘Marriage’.  Finally, some folks with courage to stand their ground.  How refreshing.

Tired of lefties calling everyone who disagrees with them a racist?  Mess up their brains by calling them a classist.

For years I’ve been describing Commies and Nazis as both motivated by envy:  class-based envy towards the rich exploitative bourgeois, or race-based envy towards the rich exploitative Jews.  Yet while race-hatred is known by everyone as racism, there is no equivalent term for class-hatred -until Dennis Praeger came up with it this week (10/18):  classism.

Dennis is spot on here.  Classism practiced by its proponents such as Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot, has been just as genocidally murderous and tyrannical as Hitler.  But since "class hatred is as fundamental to the left as the Trinity is to Christians," what unites the left is "making the rich into scapegoats for society’s ills," just as racists scapegoat whatever group they hate, be it whites, blacks, or Jews.

Dennis is making a call to action:  Classism is just as morally evil as racism.  Hating someone for being in a different economic group than you is as morally repulsive as hating someone for being in a different ethnic group than you.  And can lead, as history has so bloodily shown, to mass slaughter.

Denouncing classism as one would racism strikes at the core vulnerability of the left.  This is brilliant of Dennis Praeger, and it is why he is the HFR Hero of the Week.  Use the word at every opportunity:  Classism.  Liberals are classists!

A Hero Honorable Mention must go to Ron Paul this week, for proposing a cool one trillion dollar budget cut in his Plan To Restore America released Tuesday (10/18).  It eliminates five entire cabinet departments –  Energy, Education, Commerce, HUD, and Interior – privatizes the TSA and the FDA, brings most other agency budgets down to 2006 levels, and repeals Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and Sarbox.

It only cuts the EPA by 30% — but the entire federal work force by 10%.  When asked by a reporter, why he would fire so many federal workers, he quickly responded, "They’re not productive jobs."

Contrast this with the Idiot of the Week, Dem Congresscritter Keith Ellison, who maintains that government regulations create jobs – because the more regulations, the more people businesses have to hire to "respond to the new requirement."  This is not a gag, he actually says this.

Although in truth, the real idiots are the voters in Minnesota’s 5th CD (which includes all of Minneapolis) stupid enough to elect him three consecutive times (since 2006).

************

Another Hero Honorable Mention must go to the Senate Republicans who scuttled Zero’s second Jobs Bill last night(10/20).  This took moxie, as Zero thought he had them cornered with his emotional pleas to spend billions on "teachers and first-responders."  They shut him down with a 50-50 vote (3 Dems joined in).

Zero had a hissy-fit, shouting to his supporters: "If you thought Republicans in Congress couldn’t possibly vote against the interests of teachers and cops, they proved you wrong tonight."  No, President Zero, they proved you wrong.  Let’s hope the Senate Pubs keep this up.

We’re going to end this HFR with a surprise. Actually, it’s a surprising glimpse of who these Occupy Wall Street folks really are.

Yes, the Communist Party and the Nazi Party and George Soros and Big Labor and thugs, thieves, and Zero are all trying to take OWS over.  Yes, most of them are mis-educated know-nothings venting their inchoate anger regarding our economic mess.

But when professional (and Democrat – he worked for Bill Clinton) pollster Douglas Schoen polled the OWS protestors last week (10/10-11), conducting 198 in-depth face-to-face interviews in Zuccotti Park, you see these folks aren’t quite the un-American radicals you think.

Only 48% say they will vote for Zero next year.  Only 44% approve of the job he’s doing and 51% disapprove.  While 100% say they are "turned off by our political system," when asked "What frustrates you the most about the political process in the United States?" only 3% said it was "our democratic/capitalistic system."  Only 6% said "income inequality."

What angered them the most (30%) was the "influence [presumably on government] of corporate/moneyed/special interests," and (21%) "partisanship" [presumably on Capitol Hill].

When asked what they would most like the OWS movement to achieve, the only double-digit answer (35%) was to "influence the Democrat Party the way the Tea Party has influenced the GOP."  Only 4% want "a radical redistribution of wealth."  Only 4% want the "dissolution of our representative democracy/capitalist system."

When asked who is to blame for our country’s (and their own) problems, only 2% blamed the Tea Parties, only 7% blamed Wall Street, while 15% blamed "the American people" themselves of which they are a part, and 21% said "both parties" (16% said the GOP).

98% said they support civil disobedience to achieve their goals – but they drew a clear distinction between that and violence, for 69% said no to violence.  31% said yes.

While that 31% number is scary, the rest is not.  In fact, it’s quite reassuring.  The OWS people are Dems, no doubt, but they are not even close to being socialists, much less the radical Marxist crazies you might think.  They are angry and frustrated about our economy – as we are too.

It turns out that Herman Cain is right about them when he says he understands their anger, which should be re-directed at the right target:  Zero and his crony capitalists.

The enemedia is doing its best to portray OWS as stormtroopers for Zero’s Hate America Fascist-Marxist agenda.  That’s the fringe with their signs the enemedia focuses on.  Most of these folk, I suspect, could be tempted – with Joel Wade-type talk – to listen to at least some reason.  There’s cause for optimism and hope here.

One final note.  Given our unpredictable times, many of you have asked if it wouldn’t be possible to have a private get-together with me — and Rebel! — to discuss what good options there still are as doors are closing.

Rebel has succeeded in persuading me to hold an International Plan B Private Seminar over an extended weekend December 9-12, held in a private home on the Portuguese Riviera.  We’ll discuss how to thrive and survive in the US and abroad, dual citizenship and residency, offshore business and banking, and any part of the world participants want me to talk about.

We’ll also drink great Portuguese wine, eat great Portuguese seafood, and have time to experience the extraordinary beauty and culture  of Portugal.  We’re restricting this to six TTP couples max as the point is for it to be intimate and private.  Let Miko know if you’d like to join us.  He’s at 703-992-4529 or [email protected].
