The HFR Word of the Week is… impeachment.  Here are the Constitution’s instructions:

Article I, Section 2, Clause 5:  "The House of Representatives… shall have the sole power of impeachment."

Article I, Section 3, Clause 6:  "The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present."

Article II, Section 4:  "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

We’ll get to Zero in a moment, but first notice that the process of impeachment applies not only to the president and vice-president, but "all civil officers" of the federal government.  This means, e.g., Attorney General Eric Holder and Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan can be impeached and removed from office.

The precedent is Justice Samuel Chase (1741-1811), appointed to the court by President George Washington in 1796, impeached by the House at the urging of President Thomas Jefferson in 1804, and acquitted by the Senate in 1805.

The most destructively liberal Justice of recent times was William O. Douglas (1898-1980), placed on the court by FDR in 1939 and staying there wreaking constitutional havoc until 1975.  Impeachment proceedings were initiated against him twice, by Reps. William Wheeler (D-GA – no relation as he was a Dem) in 1953 and Gerald Ford (R-MI) in 1970.

They were mere attempts which the Dem-controlled House quickly squashed.  But unless Elena Kagan recuses herself in the upcoming challenge to ObamaCare, she may become the first Supreme Court Justice since Chase to actually be impeached.

The House Judiciary Committee announced this week (7/06) it was conducting an official inquiry into whether Kagan perjured herself in her confirmation hearing regarding her lobbying for ObamaCare while in the White House, and whether she is legally required to recuse herself.  This was at the prompting of a letter signed by 49 House Members requesting the inquiry.

It’s likely that Kagan will do a recusal, but the stakes could not be higher for the Dems – ObamaCare is their dream gateway to vastly increased control over our lives – so she may risk impeachment, confident that a Dem Senate won’t convict her.  She should consider the odds that it will be a GOP Senate in 2013.

On to Holder.  Jack Kelly explains today (7/08) why the Fast and Furious scandal may be Obama’s Watergate.  Zero and Holder found out this week what happens when a scapegoat refuses to be scapegoated, refuses to be thrown under the bus.  ATF head Ken Melson was supposed to take one for the team, and instead ratted on his bosses.

His testimony to the House Committee on Oversight & Reform on July 4 prompted a scathing letter the next day (7/05) from committee chair Darrell Issa (R-CA) and his Senate counterpart Chuck Grassley (R-IA).

It is clearly a prelude to a demand that Holder resign – and a warning that if he does not, he will be impeached for the crime of authorizing the sale of thousands of weapons to criminals running guns to Mexican drug gangs, and for obstruction of justice regarding Congress’ investigation of the crime.

Holder can’t get out of this, as on April 2, 2009 in Cuernavaca, Mexico, he bragged about his Project Gunrunner (another name for Fast & Furious).  His speech is on the DOJ website.  Goodnight, Eric.

As for Zero himself, this depends on 218 House Republicans miraculously morphing into vertebrates and refusing to raise the debt ceiling.  If the miracle occurs, Zero will undoubtedly spend what he wants without Congressional approval, which is clearly impeachable as acknowledged by Tim Scott (R-SC).

Now we see Chuckie Schumer trotted out by Zero to threaten invoking the 14th Amendment, claiming it gives Zero the authority to issue an Executive Order to violate the debt ceiling set by Congress.  Yet another example of why the Dems are the Demagogue Party.  Here’s Section 4 of the 14th:

"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."

Chuckie, of course, does not mention Section 5 that follows:

"The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article."

The President does not have the power – only Congress.  Further, the claim that the US Government will go into default on its debt service without raising the debt ceiling is an incredibly obvious lie.  The tax revenue taken in by the Feds vastly exceeds required debt service payments, and Social Security payments, and military paychecks.

All the House has to do is 1) refuse to raise the debt ceiling;  2) authorize that all federal revenue must first be spent on debt interest due, plus Social Security and active duty military paychecks; 3) further authorize spending for such things as the Pentagon, Medicare and veterans’ hospitals; and 4) everything and everyone else gets to suck hind mammary – like the EPA, Education, and Energy.

Zero is bluffing with his EO and 14th Amendment threats.  Will the Pubs call his bluff or cave?  Bill Kristol is sure they’ll cave big time.  The odds that they’ll get conned and rolled are exorbitantly high.  To think otherwise is like the definition of a second marriage:  the triumph of hope over experience.

Realize though, that whatever "deal" (meaning a Dem con) is agreed upon by the Pub leaders, it still has to be voted on by 218 folks.  Prior to that vote, it will be up to the Tea Partiers to raid the offices of every Congresscritter not promising to vote against the con, and tar and feather him or her – for real.  It’s going to be a long hot summer.

**********
This means, if moochers in Wisconsin can get violent, occupy the state capital building and trash the offices of state legislators voting against them, then why can’t Tea Partiers do the same?  Why can’t we fight back?

Here’s a headline this week (7/06):  In Venezuela, An Unpleasant Foretaste of What’s to Come.  It predicts, with Chavez’s impending death, dictatorship and civil war.  Read the story, substituting "America" in place of "Venezuela" in the headline.

Violence and lots of it, is coming to us.  If the Dems and the Left can’t intimidate and trick us into surrendering our freedom to them, they’ll take it away by force.  If we don’t fight back, we deserve to lose it.  There’s a lot of loud talk about a Second American Revolution.  If it doesn’t begin for real – action instead of hot air – should the Pubs cave on the debt ceiling in the next few days, then there may never be one at all.

**********
Sure, we may get rid of Zero in 2012 with Rick Perry or Sarah Palin in his place.  But he or she won’t take office until January 2013, 18 months from now.  If Zero and the Dems are not stopped now, the hole they have been steadily digging us into will be much deeper by then – and that much harder to dig out of.

What most normal folks don’t get is how alien the moonbat left is from the rest of us, how relentless their obsession is to control our lives.  They just never stop.  Two events of this week provide clear examples.

On Wednesday (7/06), Slick Willie Clinton had the effrontery to call Voter ID laws a form of Jim Crow racism.  What could possibly be more reasonable than requiring the same government-issued photo ID anyone needs to get on an airplane to get into a voting booth?

Yet Dems rail against Voter ID because it prevents them from winning elections in their traditional way – by cheating and voter fraud.  So they take the offensive, and in a state of hectoring moral dudgeon play the race card.

When is this horse manure going to stop?  It won’t until Pubs get right back in their face – in fact, actually punch any Dem in the face who calls them a racist – outright accuse them of promoting voter fraud, and tell them to go to hell.

The second example, which thankfully came to a righteous conclusion last night (7/07), was Zero’s attempt to advance the Left’s agenda of destroying American sovereignty by trying to prevent the execution of an illegal alien rapist-murderer.

Notice that every news story about Humberto Leal – even this one on Fox – calls him a "Mexican national," instead of an illegal alien who’s been here since his folks snuck him in when he was two.  Notice how the dirtbag confessed to his crime at the end (after pleading innocent since 1994), then shouted "Viva Mexico!"

It’s not news that the enemedia is on the side of illegals, even when they rape and murder.  What should be news is the bald-faced agenda of the Left regarding Leal.

Leal’s lawyer, Sandra Babcock, is a radical left law professor at Northwestern University whose career is dedicated to subjecting American courts to "international law."  She works closely with another law professor at Northwestern, Bernardine Dohrn – the communist-terrorist who bombed the Pentagon in 1972 and co-authored Prarie Fire: The Politics of Revolutionary Anti-Imperialism with her communist-terrorist husband, Bill Ayers.

Yes, that Bill Ayers, Zero’s mentor and ghost writer of Zero’s phony autobiography Dreams of My Father.

A number of TTPers are aware of the United Nations program to abolish American sovereignty and replacing it with "global government" – meaning the UN – called Agenda 21.  It’s becoming more entrenched into the fabric of our society down to the local municipal government level, as these analyses show.

That Zero is fully signed on to Agenda 21 was overtly demonstrated this week by his all-out support of the Babcock-Dohrn-Ayers strategy of using Humberto Leal to subvert US law.

The Agenda 21 game couldn’t have been made more clear today (7/08) when some grand UN poohbah denounced "the US" for "breaking international law" by executing Leal.

The appropriate answer is:  So what?  We didn’t break our laws, and those are the ones that count to us, not yours.  Besides, it was Texas that offed him, not Washington.

To which we can say today, Viva Texas, viva Perry! for standing up to Zero and the UN, and letting Leal get what he deserved.  That’s why Texas is the HFR Hero of the Week

We should also call out Viva Albania! this week, as my friend Prime Minister Sali Berisha unveiled a statue of President George Bush on Wednesday (7/06 – Mr. Bush’s 65th birthday) in a town 25 miles north of the capital of Tirana.

Albania is arguably the most pro-American country on earth.  American flags are everywhere.  Bush visited Albania in 2007 (the only president to do so) and championed Albania’s membership in NATO.

The back story on this is then-Albanian Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu (now Environment Minister) established a solid friendship with Bush’s SecDef Donald Rumsfeld, who then got behind Bush’s visit.  Bush and Berisha liked each other immensely, which cleared the path to NATO.  Thanks, Fatmir!  Here we are in Albania last week:

One more call:  Viva Greece!  That’s for converting the Kill The Jews Flotilla into the utter failure of the Flotilla Fiasco.  With Turkey becoming an Islamist enemy of Israel, and sponsoring the Gaza flotilla, Greece saw its chance to befriend Israel and screw the hated Turks (who oppressed them for centuries) to boot – a real two-fer.

So good for the Greeks.  Now if they could only show the same gumption in controlling their economy, and the parasites who feed on it.

Before we go, the HFR wishes all the best to a friend of TTP who declared his candidacy for the presidency this week (7/03) – Thad McCotter (R-MI).  Thad was kind enough to speak to us at Rendezvous X in Las Vegas.

You can learn about his campaign and principles on the McCotter2012 website.

It’s with regret that I must inform you that Thad took a tumble two days after he declared (7/05), when he defended Zero’s bailout of GM and Chrysler.  This is bad, like Gingrich supporting ethanol subsidies or RomneyCare.  He may have just strangled his candidacy in the crib.  TTP will be happy to publish his explanation and you can judge for yourself.

Let’s end this on a positive note.  That Prince of Pessimism, Pat Buchanan, thinks that the House Pubs may not cave to Dem bullying.  If they were, why then, Pat reasonably asks, are the Dems and the enemedia in a state of over-the-top name-calling hysteria?  Good question.  Maybe hope will triumph over experience!

And here’s a really positive note:  The trailer for The Undefeated.  Enjoy!
