Sark, Channel Islands.  This is a uniquely interesting place from which to celebrate this Fourth of July weekend.  As one of the Channel Islands (as in the English Channel although they are much closer to France than England), it is a "Crown Dependency" – meaning it is sovereign and independent except for defense and foreign affairs.

Guernsey and Jersey (along with small Herm and Alderney) are the other islands and interesting as well – but Sark is fascinating as the only feudal fiefdom left in Europe, and for being a microcosm of a number of  America’s difficulties.

Think of how useful to our freedom the Sark tradition, dating back to 10th century Norman law, of Clameur de Haro would be.  If a citizen believes his rights have been infringed, he can confront the infringer and call out in the presence of witnesses:  "Haro, Haro, Haro! À mon aide mon Prince, on me fait tort!" ("Haro, Haro, Haro! To my aid, my Prince! I am being wronged!").  After which he must recite The Lord’s Prayer – in French.

With this, and the complaint registered with the local court, the accused must immediately cease his actions against the accuser.  Think of how this could stop fascist tyrannies by bureaucrats, local to national!  Whoever is found by the court to be in the wrong – accused or accuser – is fined or penalized.  Loser pays.  Imagine making a bureaucrat or politician personally pay for trying to violate a citizen’s rights.

Sark’s independence and freedoms are now threatened.  The EU bureaucracy is determined to abolish both – even though Sark and the other Channel Islands are not a part of the European Union.  English bureaucrats (they call them "civil servants" – but when do bureaucrats act like servants instead of treating citizens as their servants?) insist on running the internal affairs of these islands – even though they are not a part of England nor the UK (the United Kingdom).

Legally and by Crown charter, the only boss Sark and the other islands have is the British Monarch – but Queen Elizabeth refuses to exercise her authority, illegally delegating it to bureaucrats.  An island of freedom is being washed away, not by jackbooted stormtroopers but by a steady unrelenting onslaught of rules (although behind every government regulation lies an actual armed stormtrooper).

You would think that every citizen of Sark would be calling out the Clameur de Haro at every infringement of his cherished freedoms – but the onslaught is too overwhelming for them to do so.  They see it as hopeless and wallow in nostalgia.

It’s a sobering lesson for our Independence Day.  July 4th is Freedom’s Birthday.  For the first time in the history of humanity, a nation was founded on the moral right of its citizens to be free, to have a government whose purpose was to protect their freedom, and to remove that government when it became tyrannical.

On this July 4th, these moral rights we have as Americans are more in jeopardy now than at any time since America won its independence.  The warning of Ronald Reagan has a frightening immediacy today:

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.  We didn’t pass it to our  children in the bloodstream.  It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

What happened this week that could be labeled pro-freedom?  Most important was the Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision on Monday (6/28) to uphold the 2nd Amendment and reaffirm that keeping and bearing arms – guns – is an inalienable right belonging to all Americans just as much their right to speech and religion.  This is a big deal.

But what else?  That Sheets Byrd finally died?  That Zero’s Immagración speech was boring treacle? That the Pubs in the Senate managed to delay the vote on the Dodd Financial Deform bill until after the July 4 recess? Thin gruel.

This 2,300 pages of legislative pathology is the latest example of the fascist frenzy Zero and the Dems are overwhelming us with.  You wonder, how is it possible that, according to Rasmussen, 45% of the electorate still approve of Zero’s presidency?  How is this possible?  Are 45% of Americans moocher-parasites and/or room-temperature IQ retards?

TTPer "bweston" affixes this quote at the bottom of his posts on the Forum:  

"The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America today. Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince."

Stocks are falling off a cliff.  So is employment.  Our national debt has exploded to literally lunatic levels with the only possible consequences being Weimar hyper-inflation or default.  The insanities keep mounting – and Zero is at 45%?

Too many Americans are in shell-shocked denial and paralysis – not unlike too many folks in Sark.  So what is there to celebrate on Freedom’s Birthday this Sunday?

November 2nd.  55% beats 45% — not even Dem cheating can overcome a voting gap that large.  TeaPartyers and rational patriotic Americans are going to reclaim their country – America belongs to us, not the moochers, parasites, and political retards.  November 2nd – the day the American Renaissance begins, the day the Second American Revolution is launched – that’s what we celebrate Sunday.  Freedom will have two birthdays this year.

This is a hefty novel, at 363 pages.  I must admit I am extremely proud of it.  I hope it really does help to heal the civil war waging within the soul of Mexico.  For only when Mexico heals itself will the threat of Mexico – its war of illegal immigration against us, its fantasy of reconquista, its inferiority complex towards America – come to an end.
