HALF-FULL REPORT 11/27/09

A prefatory note before we begin this Thanksgiving Edition of the HFR:  I am celebrating in particular the at-long-last completion of The Jade Steps.  The final chapter, the Epilogue, was finished this week.

Once the final edit is done, it will be available as an E-Book, and then in a print edition.  It is one of history’s most epic sagas of heroic love and liberation – and one of the most unknown, misunderstood, and distorted. 

As I have said, The Jade Steps is a true story. Every principal event described actually happened, every named person really lived and had that name.  It all happened almost 500 years ago, but it still remains the cause of the civil war within Mexico‘s soul.  Mexico will never rise out of the Third World and overcome its inferiority complex towards America until this spiritual wound is healed.  That is the purpose of this book  — and hopefully, the movie.

Hear that sound – the wails of fury, the gnashing of teeth of the world’s Fascist Left over its defeat by tiny little Honduras?

Oh the bitterness!  Look at this Associated Press "news" story (not an editorial) run in the New York Times about how Sunday’s elections will "enshrine the coup."  Or the Guardian in London bleating that the elections "trample democracy."  The left has lost and can’t stand it.  This is really fun.

It’s even more fun to see the FL direct its bile towards its own guru – Zero and his administration – for "abandoning" Zelaya.  The mouth-frothing at the Puffington Host is typical.  It’s especially gratifying because – thanks to the Hondurans being canny enough to hire Clintonista Lanny Davis to lobby for them (as you learned in the HFR last July) – Zero is for once doing something pro-American.

So, here’s what’s going to happen.  The turnout for this Sunday’s election (11/29) will be massive, the Chavez-sponsored violence minimal.  The hundreds of international observers (save for a few Chavez plants), including those from the US State Department, will declare them free and fair.  The US will announce it will recognize the new government.  No matter how much Brazil complains, it will end up being "isolated" as more and more countries follow the US lead.

Following this week’s decision (11/25) by the Honduran Supreme Court that reinstating Zelaya until the new government takes office in January would be illegal, next Wednesday (12/02), the Honduran Congress will vote to affirm that decision.  Zelaya is history.  Brazil will have to grant him asylum, and he will be permanently exiled from Honduras.

The momentum of the situation will quickly be transferred to neighboring Nicaragua.  Last Saturday (11/21), hundreds of thousands of Nicaraguans protested across the country against the Sandinista/Chavista communization of their country.  Honduras’ victory over the International Fascist Left will cause these protests to explode.

Meanwhile, as an indication that Honduras’ economy is on the mend after the left’s boycott, Honduras coffee exports are way up. Why don’t we all celebrate the Honduran Triumph with a cup of great Honduran coffee?

No matter, however, how great the angst of the Fascist Left is over Honduras, it is dwarfed by what they feel over Climategate.  If you can imagine its depression and shock over the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union 20 years ago, that’s what it’s like for it now.

The Fascist Left never was really Marxist or communist – Marx or Marxism-Leninism was simply the most persuasive rationale for totalitarian power.  Once that rationale was destroyed by the fall of the Wall and the USSR, the FL dropped it and looked around for another.  They found it with "Global Warming."

TTP has been explaining how the whole thing was a fascist hoax since Solar Warming in September 2005.  It is most concisely explained on the back of the TTP Global Warming Is A Fascist Hoax T-Shirt:

You have ordered yours, haven’t you?  And one for all your friends for Christmas, right?

Climategate has killed off "Cap & Trade" in Congress – killed as in dead – and the Copenhagen Treaty is DOA.  Yet so many billions of dollars in "research" funding, corporate "alternative energy" scams, and "carbon credit" ripoffs that those trying to cash in on The Current Religion of the Fascist Left will be in hysterical denial over Climategate.

While it will entertaining to watch this debacle unfold, the most important lesson to take away from it is this.  The Hoax of Global Warming has done grave damage to the greatest contribution to the practical benefit of mankind in history:  Science.  The reputation of science itself has been trashed.  This is a serious tragedy and the only way to correct it is to remove its cause:  government funding.

Without the US and other governments paying scientists billions of dollars to produce bogus "research" that "proved" what government bureaucrats and politicians wanted proved so they could expand their power, the global warming hysteria would never have gotten off the ground.

If scientists want their reputation back, they had better start arguing for a separation of state and science.  Just as, for the sake of religious freedom, there should be no state-sponsored religion, for the sake of scientific truth and knowledge, there should be no state-sponsored science.

Government funding of science is poisonous, and will always result in scientists – who are as fully human and subject to temptation as the rest of us – in selling their souls for a pottage of government grants.

And the sooner Republicans start campaigning on a promise to zero out federal funding for the whores of science, the better their chances will be in 2010.

Speaking of jokes – it’s heartening to see Zero becoming one on Saturday Night Live.  I hope you saw the SNL skit on Zero and Hu Jintao last weekend (11/21).  It’s been yanked off NBC.com and YouTube.  Here’s one site that still has it.  For adults only, it’s OMG funny….

How funny do you think it is when governments go broke?  Personally, I think it’s thigh-slapping that students at UCLA are freaking out in anger over tuition hikes when the CA government is $24 billion in the hole this year.  If I were still living on the Left Coast, I’d walk around campus telling the kids that when I was one of them in the early 60s, tuition was $56 a semester.  A $500 scholarship I won in a speaking contest paid for all four years at UCLA.  Tuition is now going to cost them over 10 Grand – per semester.

New York won’t have a single dime in its bank accounts in less than a month.  State after state is going bankrupt.  Such a fate for the Federales themselves is so looming that the New York Times ran a financial exposé last Sunday (11/22):  Wave of Debt Payments Facing US Government.

You know the news of the moment, that Dubai is defaulting on its debt.  The markets are in boot-quaking fear not just over Dubai’s relatively puny $85 billion.  It’s whether the Big Kahuna will follow suit.  If the US defaulted on its sovereign debt, it would be an almost unimaginable calamity – but it could be the only solution to reign in the fascist beast Washington has become. 

Read that NYT article on coming debt payments carefully.  The chances of the US defaulting like Dubai are increasing daily.  I’d be nervous if I were living off Social Security – or Chinese.

In the Give War A Chance department, the current buzz in all the Middle East capitals is that Turkey is going for the Caliphate.  Turkey is the successor state to the Ottoman Empire, ruled by a Sultan who claimed not only political jurisdiction over his subjects but also religious jurisdiction as the Caliph, the Commander of Believers.

The founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, abolished the Caliphate and converted Turkey into a secular state.  The present government of Turkey, led by Recip Tayyip Erdogan (air-doh-wan), is motivated by an Islamist hatred of Ataturk and dreams of re-establishing the Ottoman Caliphate.

For a Turk to claim he is the Caliph, the boss of all Moslems, brings a few problems.  Two of them are named Arabs and Persians.  The Ottoman Sultan-Caliphs never controlled Shia Persia and were in constant wars with it over centuries.  The Ottoman Empire ruled all of the Arab Middle East including Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and the most inhabited parts of Saudi Arabia.  They are now, if Erdogan hasn’t noticed, independent.  The hatred between Arabs and Turks is at least as great as between Persians and Turks.

So the latest talk in the Cairo and Damascus coffeehouses – and bars in Tel Aviv – is that if Erdogan announces the establishment of a new Moslem Caliphate with its center in Istanbul – the Ottoman capital – and really pushes for it as he is giving every indication of doing, there may be a three-way war between Turkey, Iran, and the Arabs.

Gulf Arabs are already on a hair-trigger regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions.  All of them, the Saudis, Kuwaitis, Emiratis, Omanis et al, desperately want Ahmadinejad’s nuclear clock cleaned. Turkey is trying to curry favor with Syria by dumping on Israel and claiming to be the "protector" of the Arabs against the Jews.  It’s a siren song that falls on cynically deaf Arab ears.  The same siren song is being played to no effect in Tehran.

Bibi and his Israelis are sitting back and enjoying the show.  Maybe the Turks, the Arabs will tear themselves apart and do Israel’s job for them.  One can always hope – and Bibi is doing whatever he can to bring that hope to reality.  Give War a Chance – especially among Moslems in the Middle East.

One last bit of good news.  Last August in 2010 Senate Sitrep, I predicted a GOP gain of 5 to 7 seats (in Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and California, maybe Delaware and New York).  This week political guru Larry Sabato is predicting the possibility of a net GOP gain of 9!  He adds Arkansas and North Dakota.

That would bring the GOP to 49-51.  24 Dems will be up in 2012 versus only 9 Pubs.  The odds of a GOP Senate majority in 2012 are very high.  It will take only two Dems to think ahead of the game and flip to give the GOP a majority right after November 2010.

A GOP House majority for the next Congress – requiring a net gain of 41 seats – is now clearly in the cards.  No one thought it was possible for the Senate.  Not any more…
