HALF-FULL REPORT 11/06/09

Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey never put on a circus better than the one being played for your entertainment right now, today (11/06), on Capitol Hill.  Pelosi Galore is in a state of screaming rage and panicked desperation, making every bribe and threat she can to get the votes for PelosiCare to pass tomorrow, Saturday.

She knows that if Members can go home for the weekend and get a load of their constituents’ volcanic anger before the vote, her bill is toast.  So hundreds of Members are having the Congressional Travel Office hold two flight reservations for them, one for this evening, another for tomorrow night.  They are waiting for Steny Hoyer (Pelosi’s Segundo) to complete his count.

Then, if he announces late this afternoon there will be a vote tomorrow, it means he thinks he has enough.  If he announces a postponement, it means he doesn’t.

As Jack Kelly says, bullying from a position of weakness isn’t very smart.  Trying to threaten people into committing suicide may work for Moslem crazies, but rarely for politicians, even Democrats.  It is going to be so much fun watching this slow-motion train wreck.

Before we go any further, though – did you catch TTP’s Dr. Dave Janda on the Glenn Beck show with Judge Napolitano?  It was fantastic!  Here it is on YouTube.  And here is the link you can forward to everybody you know so it can go viral:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsKxfK5O6qM.

And remember – Dr. Dave will be with us at the Alamo Rendezvous in San Antonio.  Another excellent reason for you to be there.

Okay, the HFR gets to crow a bit.  The HFR of October 16 said that relief from liberal lunacy was 18 days away, that Nov. 3rd promised to be "a Day of Doom" for Zero and the Pelosicrats.  Was it ever.  Big time.  All of these folks are Egyptians, however, who live along the River Denial, so they will learn nothing.  They’ll just keep digging themselves into a bigger hole in the riverbank.

The question of the moment is how many or how few Blue Dogs will jump in that hole with them.  Note that the question of how many RINOs will seems settled.  As far as PelosiCare is concerned, RINOs are extinct:  not one single House Republican will vote for it.

But there are only 177 R’s in the House vs. 258 D’s – which means 41 Blue Dogs have to jump Pelosi’s ship to sink PelosiCare.  Right now, it looks like more than 41 have – but alliances and votes are switching by the minute.  Pelosi’s desperation to not let them go home to their districts before forcing a vote is hilarious.

What’s also hilarious, incredibly so, is the hyper-sour grapes of the OPM, going into overdrive to claim the election results don’t really mean anything after all.

OPM (yes, pronounced like opium) is the drug liberal drug pushers want voters to get addicted to:  Other People’s Money.  But it now has another meaning.  It replaces MSM to designate the "mainstream media" liberal oligarchy of the Associated Press, al-Reuters, BBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, New York Times, and the WaPo.

The new designation for this liberal cabal is OPM:  Obama Propaganda Machine.  They no longer deserve to be called "media" – to do so is an insult to any journalist with integrity.

More hilarity.  Lost Harry Reid is postponing votes on both health care "reform" and cap/trade until next year.  The Senate doesn’t even have a companion bill to PelosiCare yet, it doesn’t exist.  The mood among Senate Republicans is daylight and sunshine – "We have the wind at our backs," one of them told me.  The Dems, however, from Reid on down are walking around like they have anvils on their shoulders.

"The entire Reid-Pelosi-Obama agenda is now on life support," my Senate friend continued.  "We’ve got to put it out of its misery."  He paused.  "And then, it’s up to us to perform.  If the voters see us providing real pro-freedom alternatives to all this Democrat nonsense, well, look out 2010 and really look out 2012."

Then he ran the math of those years by me.  Next year there’s an even split, 18 Dem seats up vs. 18 Pubs.  So the best the R’s can hope for is a gain of four or five seats.  They need 11 for majority.  But 2012 is very different.  Only 9 R’s are up vs. 24 D’s – many of whom are freshmen coming in with the 2006 Pub debacle.

The combination of a despised president trying to get reelected, a despised Dem party, and the math of 9 to 24 exposes the Dems to a true Senate disaster in 2012.  "That’s what can happen," my friend concluded, "if we earn it with the voters – so we’ve got to earn it."

I hope you don’t mind if the HFR crows just an eensy bit more.  Last week’s HFR said not to be concerned about all those headlines proclaiming a deal had been made in Honduras to put Zelaya back in power thanks to pressure from Hillary and Johnkerry.  The deal was illusory, wishful thinking, the HFR advised.

And sure enough, what are the headlines today, one week later?  U.S.-Brokered Honduras Deal ‘Dead.’ Surprise, Roberto Micheletti and the Hondurans played Zelaya, the US State Department, the Zero White House, the OAS, and the United Nations like a fiddle.  The supposed hicks from Honduras, tiny little weak Honduras, stood up to them and suckered them all.

Right now, the Hondurans are the most heroic – and savviest – folks on the planet.  Who knew?  They’ve kicked the Marxist agenda of Zero and Hugo Chavez right in the cojones.  The HFR salutes them with an ice cold Salva Vida beer.  ¡Viva Honduras!

Oh, yes, let’s follow that up with a glass of Alagash White custom-brewed in Portland, Maine raised in thanks to the people of Maine for illegalizing homosexual marriage in their state 53% to 47% on Nov. 3rd.  The frosting on the cake is that leaders of national homosexual groups are bitterly blaming Zero for their loss.

Last August in When Will Hugo Chavez Be Taken Out?, it was noted that Colombia’s Alvaro Uribe was smoothly goading Hugo Chavez with "infuriating pinpricks of annoyance until Chavez’s bullying bluster finally snaps – so that instead of loudmouth threats to invade Colombia, he actually does.  Then Uribe gets to take Caracas."

This strategy is proceeding.  Yesterday (11/05), Chavez announced the deployment of 15,000 troops on the border with Colombia due to Colombia provocations.  Colombia’s battle-hardened (through years of fighting the FARC guerrillas) and US-trained troops would eat Venezuela’s alive – for the Venezuelan army has never fought a war, ever.

Uribe believes in the wisdom of the admonition, Give war a chance.  ¡Viva Alvaro!

This coming Monday, Nov. 9th, is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is no surprise that President Zero will not be there in Berlin to commemorate it, for he is so anti-American he is embarrassed by America’s victory in the Cold War.

That victory was won by America’s greatest and noblest president of the 20th century, Ronald Reagan.  The moral difference between him and the current occupant of the White House is grotesque.  It can be expressed by contrasting Zero’s cowardly absence with President Reagan’s historically courageous speech at the Berlin Wall on June 12, 1987.

America was blessed with Ronald Reagan, and now is cursed with Zero.  But the lifting of that curse has begun.  We have much to celebrate and be thankful for this week.
