HALF-FULL REPORT 06/12/09

David Letterman certainly settled one thing this week:  that the terms  "no-class pervert scumbag" and "liberal" are synonymous.

Sarah Palin wrote a classy yet scathing response to his depraved jokes about her 14 year-old daughter, but she shouldn’t have restrained her husband Todd from responding how he wanted.  Like any father, he wanted to punch Letterman out.

Todd wanted to issue a public statement saying something like:

"Mr. Letterman, you have insulted my daughter in the most grossly perverted way.  I am on my way to New York as you read this to see you.  We shall settle this man-to-man, with our fists.  Prepare to defend yourself.  If you choose not to fight, you will have declared to the world that you are the yellow-bellied coward I know you to be."

Letterman would have soiled his metrosexual pink underwear.

Yet liberals are not the only folks scared to death of Sarah Palin.  So are the old bulls of the Republican Party Establishment – which is why they replaced her with Newt Gingrich at their annual Senate-House fundraising dinner Monday night (6/08).

They knew they would raise a lot more money if Palin spoke.  With Gingrich, they raised only $14.5 million, the lowest in years.  But Gingrich is no threat to them, and Palin is.  She would upend the entire Republican power structure, with guys like Boehner swept away.

So Palin is muzzled, and Paul Ryan is not allowed to talk about his Alternative Republican Budget – which would really work – but instead is relegated to introducing Newt, who says not a word about how "global warming" is a hoax and ends his talk with a tribute to FDR.

Yet the old bulls of the party’s past won’t be able to keep the future at bay for much longer.  For that future is not just Palin all by her lonesome.  It’s lots of young folks like Paul Ryan, Mike Pence, and Eric Cantor – Number Two in the House GOP leadership (behind Boehner) who yesterday (6/11) compared Zero’s corrupt thuggery to that of Putin’s in Russia.

All of these folks of the future realize there has to be a revolution within the GOP before a national revolution against Zero can succeed.  It will be full of surprises and fascinating to watch.

Speaking of surprises, how about a Chicom named Qin Gang being the hero of the week?

At a UN conference on "climate change" in Bonn yesterday (6/11), Mr. Qin, the Foreign Ministry’s official spokesman, gave China’s response to demands that it drastically reduce its "greenhouse gas emissions":  Fugetaboutit!

China will increase its emissions, not decrease them, he said:

"China is still a developing country and its priority is to develop its economy, alleviate poverty and raise living standards. Given that, it is natural for China to have some increase in emissions, so it is not possible for China to accept a binding or compulsory target."

Every UN bureaucrat is in a state of shock.  Their entire scheme to gain power over the world’s economy via the "Copenhagen Treaty" (successor to Kyoto) went down in flames with those words.  Mr. Qin’s words are also a slap of Zero’s face.

This is what happens when you send your Tiny Tim Treasury Secretary to Beijing to beg them to keep holding up the dollar and not submarine your giant "climate bill" scam – and they laugh in his face.  Now China is laughing directly in Zero’s.

Getting China onboard the great global greenhouse gas shutdown is a necessary condition for "Cap and Trade" to pass.  Plus, the Dems are in a huge catfight among themselves over various provisions of the climate bill.  Thus the odds that this massive power and tax seizure will go down in flames is increasing by the day.

Thanks, Mr. Qin!

Thanks also go this week to Europe’s voters, who are finally getting angry enough to reject both socialism and the Islamization of their cultures.  There is real hope now that "both will be things of the past," as several friends in Europe tell me.

The best news is in England.  It’s not just that Gordon Brown and his Labor Party are toast, and that David Cameron’s Conservative Party will be swept into power.  It’s that there is a new generation of Conservative MPs who are far more to the right than Cameron, and will force him to come to them.

What this portends for us is that Zero may soon be "OBE"  — overtaken by events, obsoleted.  If Europeans thumb their noses at socialism and Moslems, can Americans doing the same to a socialist Moslem president be far behind?  And to his party soon to drowning in scandal?

Time for some fun.  I hope you’re enjoying the New York Senate spectacle as much as I have.  Two Dem state senators, both crooks, have sided with the Pubs who promised them legal protection in exchange for giving them a bare majority.

It’s total chaotic paralysis in Albany, exactly the way government should be when it’s on the verge of doing something stupidly evil.  Now there’s little chance that there will be a senate vote on the assembly-passed homosexual "marriage" bill before adjournment on June 22.

More fun.  The most radical groups driving for more government control over our lives are public employee unions – and in state after state, there’s no money to keep them in the style to which they’re accustomed.  This is exploding in California, where, reports the Sacramento Bee:

"Faced with mounting costs and shrinking revenues, cities and counties from Sacramento to Los Angeles are curbing (public union) employee benefits, scaling back pay and cutting jobs."

Best of all, this is causing a wonderful war between the unions and Dem politicians.  Wait ‘till the union members figure out that their pensions are gone with the wind.  Or municipalities actually declare bankruptcy, voiding all contracts and obligations with the unions.

This is about to happen in Oakland, which is especially delightful because Oakland’s mayor is an out-and-out communist, former congressman Ron Dellums.

But all of this is not confined to the Left Coast.  They are shrieking in Illinois, predicting mass starvation on the streets if government handouts are shut down.  Expect growing hysteria in state after state as the looters and beggars in them confront the wisdom of Margaret Thatcher:

"The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money."

There is indeed a vast upside to this Great Recession.

Yet amidst all the economic doom and creeping fascism, the American entrepreneurial spirit will still forge ahead.  So we’ll end this HFR with an uplifting example.

It’s about a young black inventor-entrepreneur named Joe Scott.  He’s coming to the rescue of all drivers extorted by speed traps and red light cameras with his PhantomAlert software.

You download PhantomAlert software into your car’s GPS.  Joe has some 10,000 subscribers who have logged in the locations of over 110,000 speed traps and red light cameras all over the country, which are updated daily.  Whenever you are approaching one, your GPS flashes a red alert light and a voice warning tells you what kind of trap it is.

This victory over government extortion is American ingenuity at its best.  Thanks, Joe!

Ps:  Okay, I’ll confess.  I am one of those drivers who consider "Speed Limits" to be rather "Speed Suggestions," so I’m especially appreciative of PhantomAlert.
