TOOLS TO PROTECT AGAINST TYRANNY

It is imperative as we move forward in uncertain times, that we take actions to protect ourselves. One way to accomplish this is by using tools readily available to protect you.

One such tool is Proxify, which enables you to surf the Web anonymously, privately, and securely. You can read all about it here:

Proxify

They have multiple domains scattered around the globe and the service is available 24/7/365. For the best service one must sign up as a paid customer. It is $40.0 US dollars for six months, and if you sign up for automatic renewals your price will never increase, even when the general price goes up.

It’s a tremendous amount of protection for $80.00 per annum.  Another great tool for protection is:

Ironkey

Lets revisit Ironkey, an usb flash drive with electronic protection built inside. If some one steals your Ironkey they have ten chances to break in. After that the circuitry inside self-destructs and is lost forever.

Ironkey includes a Firefox secure browser that secures all cookies and browsing history on the device itself. No traces of your comms will be left for prying eyes on your computer, as long as you use the built-in Firefox browser. If you use Webmail on this portable browser, that will also be fairly secure.

4Securemail

If you want to have real secure mail then you should consider the folks who run 4securemail. It will cost you $39.99 per year for this service. You can funnel or forward other email accounts through your 4securemail account. Once you sign up with an account, you can choose an unused name such as [email protected].

An account includes 100MB of storage; when you need more it can be purchased in 100MB chunks for $1.00 per month. I have created an account with this organization and  highly recommend it. Their severs are located in Virginia, USA.

VMware

Another avenue of protection can be accomplished by running the application VMware. This virtualization software application allows you to run multiple OS packages on your PC or Macintosh or Linux box.

Here is where we outsmart the thieves, crooks and fascists with this application. You can setup a VMware created application to always stay the same when you finish using it.

Follow me here, because what that means is if you have a good working OS set up in virtual land, when it’s closed it reverts back to its original state when you created it.

So if viruses or Trojans or bots are attacking you, once you sign off it matters not, because the default state you set up your OS is once again clean as a whistle.

One of the tidy little things VMware does is facilitate moving from a PC to a Mac.  As their literature says:

"With the free VMware Converter tool and these easy steps, you can bundle up your entire Windows PC-including files, applications, and operating system-to run on your Mac using VMware Fusion."

Thanks to this, I have Ubuntu, Knoppix, Windows 2000, WIN XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Mandriva Linux, Suse Linux all running virtually on one Macintosh, and yes I can do this on my PC also.

Skype

Skype is a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) that enables one to make phone calls from their PC’s to land phones, other internet Skype users etc.

There has been a great deal of discussion of whether Skype is secure or not. The best information available suggests that when using Skype to call another Skype user via PC’s it is very secure. If calling a landline then obviously that is a weak link.

Skype Security

At a later date we will revisit Encryption in detail. It’s a big subject.  Google "best encryption application" gets 307,000 hits.

I should also clearly state that none of these tools I mention are sought for the pursuit of anything illegal. Privacy does matter though, and in an Orwellian World it is prudent to protect your identity, privacy and communications from prying fascist, criminal minds.

For now, be free, be secure, and live free of fear for the future is ours. The tightest box we allow ourselves to be forced into is done with our acceptance. Refuse to let this happen and the mind is free to be productive and survive.

Until next time
