The HFR's goblet is raised this week in sympathy to this young lady and not to her murderer.  She is Mary Jo Kopechne.  Her death at the hands of a drunk Ted Kennedy served one purpose for which America must be forever grateful:  it prevented his ever being elected President of the United States.

The HFR goblet contains no mawkish, treacly, fawning oleaginous encomiums to a man who has done more objective damage to his country than any American alive today.  Millions more would be alive today if it were not for his truly fanatical crusade in the Senate to allow mothers to murder their unborn babies for any reason whatsoever.

Those millions have been replaced by countless hordes of illegal aliens thanks to his immigration bills of 1965 and 1986.  No one – no one – has done more to destroy American culture on purpose by being the key advocate of every culturally destructive  left-wing lunacy for the last 40 years.

On purpose because there is clear evidence he was a traitor, offering to work with Soviet leaders such as Yuri Andropov to thwart Ronald Reagan's efforts to win the Cold War.

The HFR does not gloat upon the pain and suffering of any fellow human being.  His type of brain cancer is fatal and cannot be cured.  It affects the area of the brain that controls speech, writing, and reading.  The HFR hopes that his suffering will be minimal and his passing peaceful – but nonetheless raises a full glass of gratitude that he will soon no longer be in the Senate and in a position to do further damage to America.

One politician deserving of HFR praise this week is Alaska governor Sarah Palin.  To get an idea of what a hero she is, here's the demonizing headline of today's (5/23) London Times:  Protecting Polar Bear Gets In The Way of Drilling For Oil Says Governor.  She actually has the guts to sue the Federales for ludicrously listing polar bears as "threatened" when their population is exploding.

The whole entire purpose of the phony listing is to use the fascist Endangered Species Act (ESA) as a rationale to prevent oil drilling – and Gov. Pallin is exposing it.  As columnist George Will notes, with this polar bear ruling, the enviro-fascists are now in a position to use the ESA to regulate anything.

So let's all toast Governor Sarah – not only the hottest governor in the US, but also the gutsiest.  No wonder a lot of folks want her to be McCain's running-mate.

And as long as we're into toasting politicians, here's yet another hoisted glass of Chianti to the HFR's favorite European, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi – who this week convened his cabinet in Naples to announce new laws against illegal immigration in Italy.

They include making illegal immigration a jailable offence, confiscation of property rented to illegals, expelling illegals out of Italy, and other measures all which have outraged European human rights groups.  Berlusconi doesn't care.  He cares about Italians instead.  Cento anni di salute e felicità, Silvio!

The HFR is now happy to celebrate the news headline of the week – the Arab Al Jazeera announcing Six Million African Moslems Convert To Christianity Each Year. 

Al Jazeera calculates there are now over twice as many Catholics alone as Moslems (330 vs. 150 million) in non-Arab or sub-Saharan Africa alone.  And Evangelical Christianity is exploding on top of that.  The Qatar-based newsite laments that "every hour" 667 Moslems convert to Christianity, "every day" 16,000, "every year" over six million.

It condemns the cause: "the Christian missionary octopus."  The HFR raises a crystal flute of Dom Perignon champagne to the Christian missionary octopus!  Nothing less than Dom will do for this!

Lastly, the HFR raises a glass, if not of Dom at least an excellent Napa Merlot to the US Supreme Court for two outstanding decisions issued on Monday (5/19).

First, in an 8-1 decision with only hyper-lib Stephen Breyer dissenting, it upheld the conviction of the "Millennium Bomber" Ahmed Ressam, a Moslem al Qaeda terrorist who was planning to bomb the LA Airport on Millennial New Year's Eve at the end of 1999.

His pro-terrorist leftie lawyers tried every legal manipulation possible to get him off on a contrived technicality – and all to no avail.  The SCOTUS has now guaranteed he'll be safely in the slammer for many, many years to come.

Second, in a 7-2 decision (with libs Ruth Ginsberg and David Souter dissenting), it upheld Congress' 2003 law against child pornography.

There are few more disgusting perversions than child pornography.  Of course, the perverts who engage in it and their pro-pervert lawyers defend it with a perversion of the First Amendment right to free speech.   No sale, said Justice Scalia, writing the majority opinion:

"Offers to provide or requests to obtain child pornography are categorically excluded from the First Amendment."

These are two great pro-American judicial victories, one to preserve our national security, another to preserve our culture.

No wonder Phyllis Schlafly convened a meeting of conservative leaders in Washington on Tuesday (5/20) to call for united conservative support for John McCain – for one reason only:  federal judgeships.  McCain promises to appoint judges like John Roberts and Sam Alito while Obambi promises to appoint judges like Breyer and and Ginsburg.

Case closed, says Phyllis.  It's McCain or the pro-perverts and HateAmerica left run the courts.  The HFR concludes she makes a convincing case.
