What could be more delightful than the Dems tearing themselves apart?  That they go broke doing it.

The best news of the week –     Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright trashing Obambi and Obambi trashing him back – shouldn't qualify for the HFR as the glass is just too intoxicatingly, overflowingly full.  And, besides, we discussed this in Obama in Greece.

But right in second place has got to be Democrat Coffers Run Dry.  The Dems have raised so many millions – and blown them all.  Only Democrats could do this.  What do they know about living within their means, anyway?  Even a DNC official admitted that it's "nuts that we're spending so much money fighting each other instead of Republicans."

To which we can only say, don't stop now.  We're enjoying seeing your IQ-challenged donors seeing their money go up in smoke, for nothing.

We're also enjoying listening to the grinding and gnashing of Democrat teeth over the positive economic news this week:  DOW over 13K, jobless rate down, dollar up, factory/durable goods orders up, Wall St. optimistic – it's enough to make anyone praying for economic misery so Dems can get elected cry.

Make no mistake, Capitol Hill Dems really do think this economic good news is political bad news for them – and thus will do everything they can to damage it.  Like continuing to block any attempt to increase oil and gas production in the US – while blaming Bush for $4 gas.  If only drivers across America could pull in to their local gas station and see this price sign:

Now let's hop across the Pond to note that the Mother Country just might be coming to its senses.  The Brits wiped the floor with the Labor Party today (5/02).  Labor got so "gobsmacked" in local elections across the UK it came in third behind the Tories and even the political dog's breakfast of the Liberal Democrats.

The HFR raises its glass to one Tory in particular, Boris Johnson, a lovable blonde mop-head who revels in driving lefties apoplectic with comments like, if homosexual marriage was legal, then "why shouldn't a union be consecrated between three men, as well as two men, or indeed three men and a dog?"

Boris got himself elected Mayor of London today.  He defeated incumbent mayor Ken Livingstone, who is so far to the Left he ardently admires Stalin and goes by the nickname of Red Ken.  Good riddance, Kenny.  And hello, Boris.

The HFR will keeping watch on Boris, and on Tory leader David Cameron – for the odds are clearly now that he'll be Britain's next Prime Minister.  There may be hope for the Limeys yet.

We'll stay in Europe for another moment, because even though TTP was not nice to Moscow this week with The Coming Destruction of Russia, nonetheless the HFR is grateful for Putin's thumbing his nose at the glowarmers.

Russia says has no plans to cap carbon emissions is the headline.  Putin's top environmental policy guy Vsevolod Gavrilov, blithely announced this Monday (4/28) that "We don't plan to limit the use of fuel for our industries… Energy must not be a barrier to our comfort. Our emerging middle class demands lots of energy and it is our job to ensure a comfortable supply."

The HFR hereby appoints Vsevolod Gavrilov to be John McCain's advisor, authorizing him to drill through McCain's thick skull and pour some energy sense into his brain.  It would so refreshing for the next inhabitant of the White House to have the same courage to give glowarmers the finger as does the Kremlin.

Another issue the HFR wishes McCain could gain some good sense on is illegal immigration.

The HFR is cheered by this week's stories:

U.S. Border Crackdown Leads to Drop in Illegal Immigration:  "The crackdown is causing the longest and most significant drop in illegal migration from Mexico since the Sept. 11 attacks…"

Crowds Are Smaller At Protests By Immigrants:  "In many cities, including New York, Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles, crowds were a small fraction of those in previous years, with few people outside protest areas even aware that marches were under way…"

Fewer Latino immigrants in U.S. sending money home:  "More than three million Latin American immigrants in the United States, responding to the economic downturn and new uncertainties about their future, have stopped sending money home to their families…"

Someone needs to sit Johnny down and make him read them.

The other story, of course, is about the weather/climate satellite evidence showing global cooling for the next 20+ years

Global warming is so over, John.  So, c'mon, Ace, drop the stubborn act for once and show us old dogs can learn something new.  The HFR will raise a glass to you if you do.
