THE NIGHTMARE OF CONDI

Please sit down.  Pour yourself a stiff drink.  You’re going to need it.

Something is being whispered on Capitol Hill that is so radioactive sweat breaks out on staffers’ brows at its slightest mention.  Here’s the context.

For a long time now, we’ve been telling you in To The Point that Dick Cheney will step down, Bush will appoint and the Senate will confirm Condi Rice as Vice President, that this will catapult her into being the Republican presidential nominee, and that she will be elected President of the United States in November 2008.

A Rice Presidency will destroy the Democrat Party.  The Democrat Party depends on blacks living on the Victim Plantation.  A Rice Presidency obliterates the myth of Racist America, and it is upon this myth the modern Democrat Party is built.

Democrats cannot get elected without 90% of the black vote.  Rice would deny them this 90% and more.  At most they would get 50-60% if that.  Any and all chance of Democrats regaining substantial political power in America would be over.  The entire power structure of the Democrat Party would be in ruins.

Any chance of the Clintons being back in the White House would be over.  A Condi vs. Hillary presidential race in 2008 is a fantasy.  Hillary, the most hated woman in America, wouldn’t stand a chance against Condimania.  If Rice runs, Hillary won’t. 

A Rice Presidency – a black woman conservative Republican elected president – shatters the core beliefs by which liberals make sense of the world, that America is evil-racist- sexist, and they are America’s only hope for redemption.  What happens when you threaten someone’s basic psychological well-being?

Working for a living is what Republicans do.  Working for the government is what Democrats do.  If Republicans are out of power, they go back to their normal jobs.  If Democrats are out of power, they don’t know how to support themselves.  What happens when you threaten what someone believes is his means of survival?

If the Democrat Party continues to exist, even out of power, then Democrats can console themselves that someday, when power comes back, they’ll get that government job they deserve.  What happens if the Democrat Party ceases to exist, goes the way of the Whigs, and with it goes all hope of government power and job security?

All of this and more is, for liberals, Democrats, the Democrat Party, and for Hillary Clinton personally, the Nightmare of Condi.  And when you wake up in a cold sweat from that nightmare in the middle of the night, night after night, you try to think of a solution.

It begins to occur to you that there is a simple solution that would solve all your problems.  Such a simple elegant solution that would not only make the nightmare go away, but be the path to the White House.  It would cement in people’s minds that America is irretrievably racist and morally disgusting, the guilt over which can be manipulated to total electoral victory.

It doesn’t seem that the tried-and-true solution of demonization by the liberal media will work with Condi.  She is, right now, already, the most powerful woman in the world, the most famous woman in the world, the most well-liked and respected woman in the world.  Even the French swoon over Condi.

Liberal smear tactics and attempted demonizing will be a very tough sell, and run the very great risk of backlash, particularly among the black electorate.  And so we come to whispers that there is only one solution available to save the Democrat Party and a Hillary Presidency from the Nightmare of Condi.

What causes the sweat on Capitol Hill brows is the fear that Hillary or her friends are capable of it.

I think you know by now what the whispers are about.  I told you to have a stiff drink.

It couldn’t be a phony "suicide" like Vince Foster, or an unsolved professional hit like Jerry Parks.  No, the perpetrator would have to be identified as a white right-wing racist deranged with hate over the possibility of a black president.  Once so identified, his removal could be arranged Jack Ruby-style.

Before these fears are dismissed as fevered paranoia, it would be instructive to read The Secret Life of Bill Clinton by one of the world’s great investigative journalists, Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, who during the Clinton years was the Washington correspondent for the London Sunday Telegraph and is now the Telegraph’s International Business Editor. 

Let’s pray that none of this goes beyond the whisper stage.  Yet the fears the whispers express are real, for the enormous threat of Condoleezza Rice to the Democrat Party is real. 

If you think the Democrats have become unhinged with their hatred of George Bush, wait until you see them go absolutely berserk with panic and rage over the Nightmare of Condi.  Panic and rage can drive people to do dangerous and desperate things.
