Let’s see, what shall I do this Sunday night – watch the Academy Awards or rearrange my sock drawer?  That’s a no-brainer:  it’s the sock drawer hands down.  I’ll pass on ridiculously-costumed America-hating egomaniacs spewing praise of homosexuality, tolerance for terrorists, and ridicule of everything normal Americans hold dear.

Hollywood thinks it is so avant-garde, courageously blazing new cultural trails, when the reality is that it is so behind the cultural curve.  It will spend most of Oscar night praising itself for making a movie about homosexual sheepherders and pretend it’s about happy cowboys.

Cowboys herd cattle, not sheep.  "Gay" means happily carefree, as in the 1934 Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie, The Gay Divorcee.  That homosexuals have hijacked the term in an act of linguistic thievery does not mean we should let them get away with it.

It turns out they haven’t.  Talk to most any young teenager today and you’ll learn that "gay" is a term of derision, a hip synonym for lame and pathetic.  If you hear a teenage girl say to another, "That outfit is so gay," it means it looks ridiculous.  Or if a teenage boy says, "That movie is so gay," it means it is a major waste of time and money to see.

This is very upsetting to the Pederast Conspiracy, otherwise known as "The Gay/Straight Alliance," which has chapters in high schools throughout the country  A homosexual teacher will offer to be the group’s "faculty advisor," the administration will be intimidated into allowing it as an expression of "tolerance," and any objecting parent is told they are intolerant and homophobic.

And the kids laugh and call this attempt at pederastic propaganda really gay and uncool.

You know Hollywood is so far behind the curve it’s in the Asteroid Belt when you see the Harris movie star poll.  The Harris Poll to determine America’s Favorite Movie Stars was conducted in mid-December 2005.  The results are impossibly delicious.  Bear in mind these are the Top Ten favorite movie stars of Americans right now.  Number One is Tom Hanks and Number Two is Johnny Depp.

But guess who is Number Three, the third most popular movie star in America ahead of Julia Roberts (#5) and way ahead of George Clooney (#8)?

John Wayne.

All the other nine are alive and still making movies.  The Duke hasn’t been with us since 1978, yet there he is, still tall in America’s saddle. 

A common denominator between all liberals is a visceral hatred of John Wayne and the characters he portrayed, who were all real men and the total antithesis of Brokeback’s sheepherders.  That’s why you can never trust any man who doesn’t like John Wayne.

You’d think Hollywood would get the picture, pardon the pun, especially since the Top Ten is top-heavy with men who are unafraid and unapologetic of their masculinity:  Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, and Sean Connery.

But no.  It insists on being pro-homosexual and pro-terrorist and anti-American.  It is a mystery to many why Hollywood hates America.  It is because of Hollywood’s primitive fear of the Evil Eye.

As discussed in Rejecting the Evil Eye (November 2004), liberalism is nothing more than a pose by those afraid of envy. This fear especially afflicts those who feel they have not earned their wealth or celebrity – heirs like Teddy Kennedy, or Hollywood actors and actresses.

Liberalism is not a political ideology or set of beliefs. It is an envy-deflection device, a psychological strategy to avoid being envied. It is the politicalization of envy-appeasement.

Envy-appeasement explains why Hollywood is so liberal. The vast amounts of money entertainment stars make is so grossly disproportionate to the effort it took them to make it that they feel it is unearned. So they apologize for it. The Liberal’s strategy is to apologize for his success, his country’s success, his civilization’s success, in order to appease the envious. 

Terrorism is an apotheosis of envy.  No one is more envious than a terrorist.  Homosexuals are neurotically envious of normal heterosexual society, into which they never will nor can be fully accepted.  Hollywood is desperate to appease their envy.

Hollywood is desperate to appease anyone envious of American culture, society, and values.

And that’s why the values of Hollywood are irrelevant to normal America.

Hollywood is on what is considers a moral crusade to break our culture’s back with movies like Brokeback Mountain.  But it is going to fail.

John Wayne’s America is going to prevail.  Not least because our kids think that terrorism and pederasty and sodomy is really, really gay.

[Note:  "Hollywood" is of course a generalization.  The liberal culture that dominates it dominates the Academy Awards.  Nonetheless, a lot of good stuff still manages to emerge.  An example – according to my friend Col. Robert K. Brown, publisher of Soldier of Fortune magazine – is the new CBS series, The Unit.  Brown tells me it’s first rate, with advisors from Delta Force.  It debuts March 7.  I’ll be watching.]
