CROATIA BOOM UPDATE

To update you on the Freedom Research Foundation delegation to Croatia with Congressman George Radonovich, June 26-July 3:

By the end of April, the Croatian government expects to announce the commencement of negotiations for Croatia’s joining the EU. This commits Croatia to raise and spend vast sums to bring Croatia’s infrastructure — roads, bridges, airports, ports, etc. — up to EU minimums.

This includes completing The Adriatic Highway from Trieste, Italy to the Croatian port of Riyeka, along the entire Dalmatian Coast, along the coasts of Montenegro and Albania, to connect with the Greek highway to Athens. It includes major upgrades for the ports of Riyeka and Split.

Not only is there the political will, with Croatia’s new government, to complete the legal, transparency, and foreign investment protection reforms that must accompany building the infrastructure minimums — Croatia has no other economic choice. It must join the EU and transform itself from an agriculture-based economy to a modern diversified economy because there is no way its agricultural products can compete with EU-member agricultural subsidies.

The other mainstay of the Croatian economy has been tourism. But as befits a socialist country, it has been shoddy and seedy, mass tourism on the cheap with concrete block barracks, huge cafeterias with mediocre food at best, trashy campsites, all flooded with hordes of German and other Euro-Proles on state-paid vacation who drink beer out of cans and hate spending a pfennig on the local economy.

The new government of Prime Minister Ivo Senader intends to change this, to shift from mass tourism to quality tourism, to create an Adriatic Riviera. There 1,500 islands along Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Since the mass tourism is only focused on a few locales, most of the coast and islands are untouched. The potential for marinas, golf courses, world-class and boutique resorts in hidden coves and adjacent to national parks is almost endless.

Thus the Freedom Research Foundation delegation to Croatia, led by me and accompanied by Congressman George Radonovich, will be focusing on investment opportunities in real estate, tourism, construction companies, and investment banking.

As I mentioned last week (“The Pro-America VIP Investment European Vacation,” now posted in the Classics section), we’ll be meeting with Prime Minister Ivo Senader, government officials, business leaders and bankers.

The dates are June 26-July 3. I can take only eight primary delegation members together with their wives and one or two children. I could not encourage you more to consider joining us in order to prosper from the coming Croatian Boom. Please contact my assistant Miko de las Reyes at 703-531-1897 or [email protected].

And yes, one of the best investments in Croatia are the wineries of Dalmatia.
